This is a really fab bar/cafe and I have been lots with friends and also with children…read more It is probably one of the most family friendly cafe's or eateries in Leicester - they have toys and books and do children's parties at weekends regularly. Having said that it is not overrun with children, it has more of a mediterranean feel that children are welcomed but don't take over the place. There are lovely comfy sofa's, and big folding windows so it is very light and airy and has a lovely atmosphere. The food is fantastic too, I tend to have veggie breakfasts which are enormous (though in my opinion would be improved by the addition of baked beans, and a cup of tea included!) and cooked fresh on the premises. I have had a good selection of different kinds of food and have found it all excellent and fresh. Great place to visit, with or without children.

They are legendary. They also produce lovely plated salads with good fresh ingredients and nice crusty filled baguettes(choose the fillings and it will be made in front of you). It not an imaginitive chef that works here, don't expect a huge varied menu - its just decent honest fare. You can eat inside, and there is a small covered seating area at the front. Inside is again very basic - more 'greasy spoon' with chintz than urban contemporary. If you are a visitor to Tamworth and the weather is on your side I would suggest that you take out and sit in the 'Castle grounds' amongst the lovely gardens. It gets busy in here -which is again testament to its popularity - so expect a small wait. The staff are courteous and quite efficient though not particularly chatty. My working life would be vastly improved if only this place delivered - for those times when you are on a deadline and only a bacon, sausage and egg sarnie will help sod to cholestrol.

Food doesn't taste freshly cooked, it tastes like it is warmed through. They even manage to burn the toast, whilst warming through the tinned mushrooms. Expensive too, for a plate of inedible food. Shame I had to even give it 1 star.

Yes it's expensive, but that's the market they are aiming for, this isn't aimed at the person that earns minimum wage... It's aimed at professionals with plenty of disposable income. The bar is very nice, a good selection of drinks and the decor is good too. The food is high end, definitely not your Weatherspoons cheap burger and fries... They have proper chefs that use top quality ingredients. The management have done a good job at keeping this place going over the years, I think that keeping young attractive girls on staff all the time definitely helps! As I know most guys go purely for the eye candy... (Not me of course!) but most men are always saying how you never see an unattractive girl on staff... Not sure how legal that is to only hire attractive people, but they seem to have gotten away with it for the past decade so there we go... I guess it's all part of the brand...
