This is a perfect example of a family operation that feels like a 5 star resort. Better yet, it's run better than a resort that we've been to. We stayed in Palma on our first trip to Mallorca 16 years ago. It's bright lights, big city, night clubs, etc. We done did that. But we precisely wanted to change up the game this time around. And so happy we did! We read tons leading up to our Ses Salines trip because we did not want to replicate '08 in any way.
Hubs and I literally shaped our entire 2nd Mallorca August '24 trip to explore what else the island has to offer. We noticed other towns we've visited in the past that are beyond congested now like Sóller, Port de Sóller and other towns on the western side of the island. We will NOT miss that side of the island when we return. We love going off the grain- that's just who we are and the eastern side of the island will certainly call again.
Ses Salines is a charming town that offers a perfect mix of natural beauty from the countryside and the coast being away about 10 minutes was perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed both. S. Salines is also slow-paced (which we liked) and was an ideal destination for our 7-day getaway.
We wanted serenity, an oasis and a peaceful stay. Finca Sa Carrotja is all that and a bag of chips in Ses Salines. The owner has taken all the senses of the body and put into his farm:
Smell: as you walk around the grounds, you'll notice all the lime trees and the citrus scent they give, the herbs by the walkway, the flowers draping over.
Taste: the daily complimentary breakfast offering their farm grown plums, oranges from their trees- which I pressed every morning for a fresh squeezed glass of oj.
Sound: the owls in the background, the roosters crowing in the morning (no, they weren't a nuisance). In fact, with windows closed, the sound wasn't "right there" in your ear.
Sight: the entire Finca is well-maintained and not a branch out of place. The stone path leads you to the kitchen, leads to the pool, to the front courtyard, the parking lot area and to rooms. The pinks, pops of reds and purples all soften the browns and neutrals of the farm.
Touch: our room was ultra comfortable and offered us the best sleep for 7 days. The AC worked on all cylinders during Mallorca's intense summer. Had a lot of amenities (except an iron), water pressure was great, enough towels and safety lock box, etc.
Service was delightful from the owner (who's German[?] but spoke an excellent Spanish), and the ladies tending to the grounds and kitchen. We selected a 'Finca'- but this was tasteful experience which we'll cherish for years to come. read more
