Arzie was a good communicator and had fair pricing. Ultimately I was happy with the work done on the interior doors, but did not have my expectations met (I have high but reasonable expectations) on the exterior door work where three doors still have clearly visible light. Arzie started the project and had his helper Brandon finish up. Brandon was also pleasant enough to work with on the job. There were a few days where I was expecting someone to show up but either due to illness or business with another project that didn't happen and work shifted to the next day. Ultimately I still have work to do on the doors which defeated the purpose of hiring the handyman to free up my time to do other things. I saved some time, but I also have work to do to finish the job.

I hired Joy of the Lord Handyman to do a few different jobs on the exterior of my property,…read moreincluding stripping the stain from the floor of my deck. Unfortunately, a problem occurred during the project that has still not been resolved. During the job, the deck boards were power washed and then sanded while they were still wet. This left the wood surface rough and fuzzy across the entire deck. When I spoke with the owner, Arzie, about it he acknowledged the issue and said he would come back and fix it. Later, after I decided to hire a different contractor for a separate dock project that Arzie and I had previously discussed, his attitude changed. When I followed up with him about the deck repair, he refused to return. He said he had already lost money on the job and he couldn't work for free. Later in the conversation he denied that the sanding had been done while the wood was wet, even though I personally observed his employee doing this. When I first notified Arzie of the deck problem, he said that "the problem was on them" so he would absolutely come back and fix it. He also expressed frustration that his employee did not follow his advice to just sand the stain off instead of trying to power wash it off first and then sand. Now, Arzie is denying it ever happened. I understand that contractors sometimes lose money on jobs, especially if an employee works slower than expected. However, homeowners rely on contractors to stand behind their work and correct mistakes when they occur. In this case, the problem was acknowledged initially but ultimately left unresolved. Based on how this situation was handled, I can not recommend this company.
