Such a unique setting in old Tarraco, built into the old Roman ruins. Gracious hosts with kind service.
We stopped in with a friend for almuerzo and had a leisurely meal that was excellent. We shared a variety of tapas. Half a dozen, all told.
Patatas Bravas with black sauce, is an excellent starter with fresh roasted potato and delicious black sauce for dipping.
The Burrata with mango salad also a solid choice, the burrata was so fresh rich and creamy, with sliced mango on a bed of mixed salad greens. Another great dish.
Assorted local cheese board along with their bread and tomato. This is a great selection of quesos with nuts and spreads, then the toasted bread with Catalan style tomato of the side. A classic wonderful dish, full of flavors and textures.
Broken eggs with duck ham, and pedron peppers, another standout. Every place has their version of broken eggs and Filosofia presents an excellent interpertation. Two soft cooked eggs with thin sliced jamón de pato, on top of patata hervida, with roasted Pimientos de Padrón. Simple, delicious and such a flavorful combination.
Then we tried the croquettes, five or twelve to an order we went with five. Beautifully prepared, cooked to perfection. Stuffed with a savory yet lightly sweet carne de res filling. Another solid choice.
Along with an excellent '22 Tempranillo, Candado De Oriza. An exceptional bottle of vino.
An excellent meal with friends at an amazing location within old Tarraco. Only accessible on foot. Worth the effort and definitely worth your support.
