The service was quick and easy, and the servers speak a little English. You feel as though you're sitting in an old mountain pub rather than a restaurant. It's a magnificent atmosphere in which to enjoy a Polish meal.
They have a full bar, so you can order drinks with your dinner. They first brought out bread with smalec (a spread of rendered bacon fat) to start. Then, I had a cup of red beet soup, it was fabulous, just like Grandma would make. The main courses were cooked to perfection. I had the pork in a white sauce with mashed potatoes, the pork was very tender, and the sauce was a great accompaniment. My wife had the cheese and potato pierogies, which were mouth-watering, and my son had the schnitzel with a fried egg and mashed potatoes.
The portions are huge, and everything was absolutely delicious. We're already looking forward to coming back the next time we're in Łódź.
