My banking needs are relatively simple…read more I became exceedingly unhappy with the service and poor attitude that I was receiving from PNC. I had originally started as a MidAmerica (the Naper Boulevard branch) customer, was swept when National City took over and then finally PNC ("PREVIOUSLY National City" :-) came in. MidAmerica was a great local bank. In my last year with PNC, there were always unnecessary and surprise charges. It became very clear that PNC was not in business for the little guy, although I was a legacy customer from MidAmerica. Having switched banks before, I could see where this was going. So, last April, I marched myself over to Naperville Bank & Trust and set up an account with Loretta. Other than to write this review, I have not looked back. The on-line banking works well and on time. They even have mobile banking, but I have not availed myself of that. The locations are convenient. NB & T is tied into Wheaton Bank & Trust and Glen Ellyn Bank & Trust such that the local banking and ATM networks are huge and convenient. If I remember correctly, Naperville Bank & Trust customers NEVER pay to use an ATM in the U.S. If you are charged, then they reimburse you. Is that "crazy generous" or what? If you have had your fill of PNC or Chase or the other big banks and their shenanigans, then you might want to give Naperville Bank & Trust a try.

With the services that Chase is taking away from their customers, I have become angrier and angrier…read moreevery time I go into the bank. The bank cannot count my change and has now taken away human tellers in favor of a machine in my branch. When I passed a sign that indicated a bank would count my change, I knew I had to open an account at this bank. As soon as I walked into the bank, the atmosphere made me remember what customer service could be. I was warmly welcomed and greeted by the employees including Irma who set up my new account in a very painless way. The online system is not difficult at all. Those of us who are not the private client customers that Chase is courting need to smarten up and start to use community banks. I will be exploring the app, and I will be reporting back on that. Oh. At Naperville Bank & Trust I can use Apple Pay. Why would I need any other bank?

This is what small banking is like... at least, that's what it feels like anyway!…read more My wife and I both have business accounts with this bank, and since this is our closest branch, we regularly stop by to handle different aspects of our business. It's impressive how friendly the folks are here, and even more impressive that they typically remember the businesses we're in, as well as our names (many greet us by name the moment we walk in, before we're at the teller or with the account manager). Jackie, in particular, has been amazing in guiding us through various decision processes and helping us move forward with our separate businesses. Ever patient, always friendly and smiling, she's definitely helped us significantly whenever we had questions or needed help. It's nice to walk into a bank where everybody knows your name. That's great relationship building, and definitely has me staying with this bank for awhile.

Branch manager Mindy Powell told me I needed a letter from the executive of her estate to remover her from the account with my name on it. Claiming that it was a legal issue and not her fault she gave me her card, acted apologetic, and told me she'd be happy to help. I called and left a message trying to clarify what document I needed to close the account. 3 days, no call back. I walked into a different branch and closed it with a banker in under 15 minutes headache free. No such paperwork was required. Seems as if this location lies to keep their accounts. I will do no further business with US Bank.

Wintrust makes banking difficult. They do not post rates…read moreonline/on their app/in physical banks/etc and instead request customers call daily to check current check/savings/CD/etc rates. When you call, you get put on hold. On top of that, rates are not competitive. They do not allow you to send/transfer more than 2k a day and 5k total a month to other accts (this includes both bank to bank transfer and Zelle transfer). If you want to manage more ah. 5k a month you are required to go into the bank between the hrs of 9am-5pm which is impossible for any normal working person. Simply makes it impossible to move money around. The mobile app is old age. The whole process of banking here makes it feel like 2010. Better off with an online bank with better customer service, higher rates, and ability to manage your money via transfers and reallocation of funds. Any other bank auto adjusts rates when they tick up so the customer receives the best rate they can while under their care.. not Wintrust. They only tick your rate down without notice and then you have to call over and over to learn about rate increases. The short stout blonde lady at the teller window is incredibly passive aggressive when asked for help. Seen it a million times. Not friendly at all. Bank elsewhere.
