Last week I posted about on FB getting hacked on a Fifth Third account. I received a debit card I never ordered, then got an email that it had been activated. I visited 53rd and GAVE them the card. 10 days of investigation and here's their reply:
"Our research shows that your card is protected with an WMV chip and was used at a chip-enabled card reader. This technology ensures your account is only accessed by your card and not a counterfeit card. Because you did not report your card as lost or stolen, we aren't able to determine this was a fraudulent charge.
As a result of our research, the temporary credit of $800.00 we issued to your account ending in XXXX will be reversed on August 14, 2026."
$15000 in charges on a card I never order or activated, the bank had the card. I'll visit the bank tomorrow then probably an attorney. If whoever sent me a card, maybe they sent one to someone else?
If you have anything with Fifth Third, find another bank! read more
