The electric bikes are fast, smooth and well maintained. We easily rode to the next small town of Edam, which is cheesy, cute, and charming. The scenery in this area green and beautiful, and I very welcome relief from the noise, smoke, and big crowds of Amsterdam. Rural Netherlands is best seen on bike! So fun!

You'll see the bikes parked outside, and their big sign waving. We rented bikes (the 3-speed ones with hand brakes) and did a big loop north through Edam, then along the canal (and highway - but quiet and protected path) to Monnikendam, across the dyke to Marken (drizzly headwinds made this the most difficult part of the trip!), and then a ferry ride back to Volendam. Stopping for lunch in Edam and a drink in Marken, plus wandering around and seeing a few sights along the way, the whole trip took us about 4.5 hours. If you are going to a cheese farm, you'll want an extra hour, at least. The bike shop sold us the ferry tickets at a discount, so we didn't have to do anything extra. The bikes were in great condition, the staff was helpful and fluent in English. A lovely experience all around!

They offer bike insurance for an additional price (not included in the iAmsterdam pass) and they seemed to have a slight attitude when I declined, but overall my experience was still good. I did see someone run over a beer bottle cap at the park which popped their tires, so maybe the bike insurance isn't so bad of an idea. The employees ensure that the bike frame and seat height fits and that we know how to use the locking mechanism before we get sent out. Bikes are in decent condition, functional for the most part, but could be better.

All homes on Park are differently furnished/styled with lots of surprising decorations. Reception offers bike-rentals and beds/chairs for toddlers. Schoorl and surroundings are top-3 spot in Netherlands for biking and hiking, along polders into forrest, passing sanddunes, on to the beaches. Village-centre has its well-known "climbing-dune" where kids can't stop playing, while parents relax on cafe-terraces with a drink.
