I want to glug a gallon of their salsa but was too shy to ask for some to go. Went here with a friend after we visited the Museum of Glass awhile back. I got one of their combo plates. I wonder if they cooked the rice & beans in chicken stock because it had a rich savoury flavour and I don't think it was just a matter of seasoning. The other items on the plate paled in comparison. I'm not saying they were bad per say but ex. a burrito generally involves more than just ground beef in a tortilla with sauce on top. A great meal! Don't let the unimpressive ambience steer you away, this is the best Mexican I've had in a while. You know the food was good when I don't stop to take pics! Like many Mexican restaurants in Western NY, Fiesta Brava has a vegetarian section of combo meals. But they offer more than the normal bean burrito/cheese enchilada meal (although they do have that) and have meatless offerings like a chalupa or potato & spinach burrito. Their menu is large and though it was an odd time on a Sunday, there was a steady stream of customers. I got one of the bean burrito combos and it was hot and delicious (try salsa verde instead of enchilada sauce - yum!). Food came out fast and our server was friendly and attentive. Chips and salsa kept us busy during the short wait. My husband who can be picky at reataurants really liked his food too. I don't get to Corning much but when I come again, Fiesta Brava is definitely on my list. read more

For around $10, it was a great value. Shrimp tacos were slightly salty but plump and fresh, ceviche portion was large. Maybe not the freshest seafood but the way it's seasoned and prepared definitely makes it delicious and overall appealing. The bad, some flies were buzzing around the food, though can't really blame them as it was summertime. Orders were slightly different. We ordered steak for the fajitas but ended up with chicken. Not a big deal, maybe we should've spoken up, but something just to be aware of. Seemed understaffed but maybe this could've been to Covid. We went here for dinner our first night here. Beers were a little expensive, pina colada's and margaritas were good. They were short staffed which seems to be everywhere. It did seem a while to get our order taken. The server was doing the best she could to help everyone in a timely manner. The part was when my friend got her nachos and there was a bug in it! . They wanted to remake them but my friend hat lost her appetite. Then at the end the server says oh my the way I did take those nachos off your bill. Really?? After 2 days in the area, and really bad Italian food, I decided to walk up and down Market St. until something caught my attention. It was around 7:30 and my stomach was not happy I wasn't making any decisions. I made it to the end of the street and heard music, saw bright colours, and a very attractive menu grabbed my attention. This place looked very authentic. I gave it a whirl. I had the 3-piece vegetarian platter (spinach burrito, mushroom quesadilla, cheese enchilada) and added a bean burrito to go. These were not full entre sized. As the lovely lady at front told me it would be about 15 minutes, I nodded, paid about $17 and was almost out of the door to wait outside when I hear her speaking Spanish with one of the guys from the back. Finally! You have no idea how happy I was to hear the language, let alone, see people with melanin in this area! I can't help it, I'm from the tri-state area and I'm used to people knowing what they're doing with their food. I was hoping this wasn't gringo-Mexican food, and it wasn't. Granted, it wasn't a full platter with rice and beans, but the portions were perfect for me for dinner and leftovers were good for breakfast in a hotel before I headed back downstate. The food had flavour, great cheese, sauces were perfecto, and the chips and salsa weren't like from the supermarket. And it really did take about 15 minutes. Their competition is the Burrito place at the end of Market street, on the other side. That's a counter, build-your-own type place. This is a proper restaurant, and it's was the gem I needed to find. Yikes, if this is the best Mexican food that Corning has to offer...I will gladly travel far, far away to get Mexican food. The chips and salsa are pretty good, I will give this place that. Please note that if you ask for a spicy salsa they will charge you extra. Ok, that's fair, but please notify your customers if you do that. I forget what the dish is called now, but one of the dishes we got was chicken topped with chorizo. the chicken was pounded out so thinly and overcooked to death that it actually took me a long time to figure out what the chicken was. It was one of the worst dishes I've ever had. The other dish was fajitas with a mixture of stuff like shrimp and chicken/steak, which was actually decent. The dessert we ordered was the sopapillas, which the waiter just assumed we wanted the one with ice cream. It was horrible - very unpleasant. This place does not know what sopapillas are! When we asked what the hell was going on with the dish, and explained that we didn't want the one with the ice cream and sauce they didn't try to fix the situation. The lady just apologized for the waiter's mistake, said he had a long day, and said that she hopes we'll come back. No thanks! read more

So we went out to try the Mexican restaurant my parents like. Atmosphere - They are located on the historic Market Street. That being said you know the building is going to be old. But they place needs a major update. The men's room floor is not level and feels like you could step through the floor. Food Drink - Water for me tonight. Appetizer - The classic free chips and salsa. We added guacamole as a side for the chips. The guac was not made completely, the pureed avocado was the base of the bowl then topped with diced onion, diced tomato, and large pieces of cilantro. You had to mix the guac with each chip. I suppose we could have used our fork and mixed it at once. But really trying to avoid the cilantro. Dinner - I got the Burrito Mexicano with beef. The beef was the best part. Must of the ingredients that were listed on the menu were on the outside of the burrito and not inside. So made for the heart of the burrito very plain. Service - We came in at 4:30 and at 5 our waiter was changed out with a waitress. She was determined to have that table spotless before we left. Most places would leave the salsa and chips on the table but they were off before we finished up. Future - Probably not. read more

Stopped in for a family dinner out. It was early so the restaurant was empty. You get the typical chips and salsa and I ordered guacamole. It was very very smooth leading me to believe it was premade not made on house from fresh avocados. It was topped with onions, tomato and cilantro which was good. I was happy to see they had a vegetarian section on the menu. I ordered the mushroom quesadilla. The plate arrived and unusual for a Mexican restaurant it was not scorching hot. I was a bit disappointed that the mushrooms in the quesadilla were canned mushrooms not fresh. Additionally there was not a lot of cheese to speak of, the two sides of the quesadilla were not even stuck together with cheese. It was served with lettuce, sour cream and guacamole. Everything here is authentic. From the delicious margaritas to the smile in our server's eyes. Bridgette was superb! I could see her beautiful smile despite the fact she was wearing a mask. The food came quickly and was as authentic as I have had in a loooong time. Coming from California, I feel I know Mexican food, and this is great. The salsa was the prefect amount of heat with delicious flavor.. the chips were really fresh and crispy.. I hadn't planned on stopping in Corning, New York, but my hunger said "do the research" and that's how I ended up here. Reviews were great and there was some mention of a margarita as big as your head. Sold me. Restaurant is located in a bustling area of what I assume is downtown; prepare to park in a paid city lot if nothing is available on the street. An inviting atmosphere awaits inside with colorful decor, authentic music and lots of colorful chalkboards "chalk" full of daily specials. Chips and salsa came out almost before I sat down and drink order was taken straight away by my attentive and agreeable server. Valentina, Cholula and El Yucateco sauces graced the table. Ready to rock, baby, welcome to the Empire State! I ordered Tacos A La Diabla - four corn tortillas with steak and chorizo, grilled jalapeño, cilantro and onions. Served with rice and beans, tomatillo sauce, pico de gallo, and lemons for $10.99. I'm used to seeing Camaroñes ala Diabla, so this was suitably intriguing. I was a little disappointed that the scarce amount of lettuce was only enough for really two of the four tacos. Presentation-wise, having the lettuce sit on half of the tacos was a little weird. The pico was a-MAZ-ing; spicy and flavorful. Steak was a tad overcooked; chewy and somewhat dry, saved only by the chorizo. Rice and beans were serviceable. The solution? That aforementioned sauce bounty, but the pico really made it all good. But, no lemons. (Not that I minded.) Overall, I would come back to this place again for a number of reasons, just wondering if maybe there was some oversight as far as the steak and lettuce were concerned. Other than that, this place pretty much rocks. The margaritas were a little weak, even for a large size, but maybe you can upgrade and make it worth your while. Would I come back again? We ate lunch here on Sunday while in Corning. We were seated very fast and waited on quickly. We ordered two chicken tacos for my son. We also ordered two beef quesadillas and corn tortilla fish tacos. The menu here was huge and diverse for a Mexican restaurant. Cactus was even on the menu. Our food came out fast , in five minutes. The meal was good especially the fish tacos. The price was a little high but the portions were big. Definitely would eat here again. read more
