“I can honestly say it's more comforting to have my daughter at this daycare than it has been at the other daycare she was at.”

The teachers have been great, front desk Staff have all been courteous to me. we enjoyed the Pre-K. Hot lunch and Photos are reasonably priced. Currently, my baby is attending (Under 1 year). As a kitchen worker, I do appreciate that they label all food with the child's name and date. I also like to receive the daily slips so I know if she napped, pooped, etc. I believe the ratio is 5 babies max to a worker. I see new staff often, but for the baby room it's the same people for the most part. Maybe one new person every once in a while. I appreciate this for my baby because she takes a while to warm up to someone new. With my infant and toddler both having attended this school, I have been very happy with my experience. My eldest was sad to leave Northshore and go to kindergarten. There is only one thing I have desired that Northshore hasn't been able to provide: weekend operation. I believe they tried offering it before but there was not enough demand. I am a chef and a nurse assistant , either job requires working weekends. it has been a struggle requesting AM shift as well as weekends off. Just FYI if you are an essential worker or work in the hospitality industry. I have turned down many employment opportunities due to this, but ive tried other daycares and they just arent the same compared to Northshore! :)

While Candil Hall offers a great curriculum, there are too many problems that contribute to a poor…read morelearning experience for children. First, the staff turnover is incredible. One year my daughter had 3 different teachers. Each year they seem to have all new teachers and staff is constantly coming and going- other than about half of the teachers who are all related to the owner. The school is family owned which can contribute to a family feel of the school overall. However, if you are not related to the family, personal friends with the family, or volunteer with the school, your child and your family will be outcasted and excluded. Only some kids are invited to play sports. Kids they do not want on their sports teams are not even invited to try out. The principal/owner Mr. Diller regularly yells and swears at the kids. He is demeaning and borderline abusive to the students. Candil Hall also allows bullying and in some cases promotes or praises students who bully. Children who are bullied are not protected by the school. They get no help even when they feel so unsafe they don't want to go to school. Student to student threats are not taken seriously. It's incredibly disappointing the lack of concern and support shown to children at this school. While my child did leave there more advanced academically, she also left there with psychological trauma, fear, distrust of schools and teachers, and overwhelming feelings of confusion because she felt so unsafe in the place that she should feel the safest. I regret ever sending my child to this school and wish I could undo all of the trauma Candil Hall has caused her. Additionally, if you ever have any issues with the teachers, the staff, the family, etc. you will be talked negatively about and they will spread rumors to other parents about you. This school is not worth it, please look elsewhere.

They have a Thanksgiving show, Christmas show, end of year party/celebration, and other fun stuff for kids and parents. My daughter is going into 4th grade now, and she still remembers this place and her teachers. Pretty incredible since she was here from ages 2-5. Very friendly, family oriented staff, that takes the time to get to know you and your kid(s). I think the bad reviews for this place are from "Karen's" that won't be happy anywhere. Great place overall! My daughter (Tonantzin) misses this place!

Now that my child is school age he does go as often, but when breaks (winter, spring, and summer) come up, the first place he goes is to Creative Kids. I trust the staff 100% with the well being (emotion, mental, and physical) of my child. I know that if anything occurs (a fall, incident with another child, etc) the staff will call and be honest with me as to what occurred. Because of Creative Kids' teaching, development programs, and social interactions, my child entered Kindergarten last year way ahead of most students and has been thriving ever since. As a first grader, my child has gotten student of the month twice, reading at almost a 3rd grade level, and able to get along with everyone. Of course structure and discipline at home aids that, but when you have a place like Creative Kids reinforcing home structures, it makes it much better. I appreciate the staff and all that they do. Amazing and would recommend to everyone!!

This daycare has both strengths and areas that need improvement. The director has always been kind,…read moreprofessional, and genuinely cares about the children and families, and that has always is always evident which I appreciate. My biggest concern is the staffing. The turnover is noticeable, and the center often seems understaffed. Because of that, my daughter has had several different teachers, making it difficult for her to build the consistency and relationships that young children really need. The dilemma I have is, I have seen things fall through the cracks that were concerning, and I believe many of those issues stem from the staffing challenges rather than a lack of care. That said, I want to recognize Yasmine. She has been absolutely wonderful with my daughter and the other children. She is attentive, caring, and has been a positive part of our experience that she gave me confidence in keeping my daughter at this location I truly hope this location is able to retain more staff and create the consistency needed. I can see the effort being made, and I'm hopeful things continue to improve.

After someone reached out to me about my review. Upon going through my phone I realized there were…read moremore stuff that happened during her stay that I forgot. Here's a more detailed and accurate review. My daughter cried intensely at drop-off and repeatedly said she did not want to attend this preschool. She cried so much that her nose became extremely dry from dried mucus sitting on her nose for long periods during the school day. I filled out a form for them to start applying Aquaphor on her nose. When Id come to get her, her nose was so dry and red that it started to peel. She was only 2. I assumed she'd receive assistance because many toddlers that age still need help wiping their noses.... When I picked her up, the Aquaphor container consistently appeared untouched despite my completing a form authorizing its use. She was in Ms. Becca's class during part of her enrollment. Then they switched her to a different class and I cannot remember the other teachers names. During her time there, she came home with scratches on multiple occasions that were not there before school, and staff told me they did not know how the scratches happened. I asked to see the cameras and was advised that they did not record. She also came home with a bruised eye while attending this preschool. Around this same period, she began wetting the bed, which was unusual for her, and she started saying things that were unexpected and concerning to me as a parent. After wearing a dress for picture day, she said things such as, "Let me see under your pretty little dress." Combined with her extreme distress about attending, I decided to withdraw her after about a month. Looking back, I wish I had paid more attention to the crying. I assumed it was normal because this was her first school experience and thought she would eventually get used to it. After transferring to another preschool, the daily crying stopped and she is now excited to attend school. It is still crazy to me how changing schools made such a difference. This was my family's experience and the reasons I chose to remove my daughter from the program.
