Just filed a claim with Fidelity for a transmission issue I'm having with my Ford Ranger. So far the service has been great. Fidelity had no issue with taking my truck to the shop of my choice. Can I give ZERO stars? I would if I could! I rarely leave negative reviews, but I believe other consumers deserve to know about my experience. My concern is not that my claim was denied. My concern is what happened after the denial. My MaxCare claim was verbally denied, and despite four written requests, multiple telephone calls, and more than a week of waiting, Fidelity Warranty Services has still not provided me with a written claim determination identifying the contractual basis for its decision or the documentation supporting that decision. Without that information, I cannot meaningfully understand the denial, determine whether it is consistent with my contract, or exercise my contractual rights. My automobile insurance carrier has also requested the warranty documentation, and the lack of a written determination has delayed that process as well. I attempted to resolve this matter directly with FWS before escalating it. Only after my repeated requests went unanswered did I file complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the Ohio Attorney General, the Florida Attorney General, and the Ohio Department of Insurance. If FWS believes its denial is supported by the terms of the contract, then providing the written basis for that decision should be straightforward. As a customer, I believe it is reasonable to expect a company to explain, in writing, why a claim has been denied. I hope no other customer has to spend weeks simply trying to obtain the written explanation of a claim decision. I will never deal with CarMax or any company that works with FWS ever again. My vehicle is in a different shop now than CarMax but two weeks out and I cannot even get work to start on my daughter's Jeep because FWS refuses to give my insurance carrier any written information on the warranty denial--and insurance will not take action without that info--- so this single mother, 100% disabled Veteran, that cannot walk at the moment due to severe foot surgery is left to try and manage this all over the phone and email with absolutely NO response at all from FWS. FWS is absolutely putting my family's job security at risk and it simply is not acceptable. All I want is a written explanation of the denial so my insurance company can move forward. After my car had been at the dealership for five months, the dealership and the warranty provider never managed to agree on what the actual fault was. During those five months, the warranty provider demanded extensive documentation regarding the car's maintenance, as well as photos and videos of the issue--all of which the dealership submitted, only for them to be rejected multiple times. Eventually, they demanded that I pay the dealership to tear down the engine to expose the fault and--on top of that--sign an agreement stating that if they denied the claim, I would be responsible for the entire cost. I called every day; customer service always gave me conflicting information about my claim. Whenever I asked to speak with an inspector or supervisor, I was always told no. During one call, a representative named John Barrera even told me I should know about mechanics--that I ought to watch the videos and figure out what was wrong with my car myself--and he even asked if I was hiding something regarding the car's condition. Samuel from customer service was very diligent and was the only one who escalated my case to a supervisor, but by then, the warranty provider had already demanded "teardown authorization," refusing to proceed with the claim until I agreed to it (a condition I couldn't possibly accept, given that the dealership kept providing a diagnosis the warranty provider wouldn't accept). They put you in a situation where the customer always loses. They sell you the contract as an "unlimited warranty," yet everything is excluded. Please, do not buy this warranty. read more

I purchased a vehicle protection plan through my dealership, and three years later, a small crack appeared on my windshield. Contacting Fidelity Warranty Services was a nightmare. Fidelity told me the repair shop only needed my warranty contract number. I proceeded to schedule the windshield repair online, thinking it would be simple. It wasn't. The repair shop needed a claim number, which Fidelity refused to provide unless the repair shop had the car in their possession. This back-and-forth repeated multiple times with no resolution. The repair shop called Fidelity directly and I contacted Fidelity two more times. Fidelity refused to provide a claim number. The repair shop made it very clear they would not start any work until they had a claim number. I was tired of the back and forth with Fidelity and went to my car insurance website. By contrast, submitting a claim through my car insurance was instant--I received a claim number immediately with no deductible.. Fidelity Warranty Services wasted my time and money. We bought an extended warranty for 2020 Jeep last year from from Phil Smith Accura. This week the car was leaking oil onto the engine. Fidelity sent a 3rd party to take 3 pictures 2 days later and deemed itto be not leaking enough for coverage and denied it completely. I recommend that Phil Smith Accura never sell this product and that no customer should ever buy their warranty. Anyone in a similar situation should consider filing a claim with Small Claims Court and with the BetterBusiness Bureau. I asked that a supervisor contact me but to date no one did. read more

Horrible delay in claim resolution. My vehicle has been in the shop for over a month waiting for warranty to agree and cover. Who While giving unreasonable requests that adds to delays. They wanted to pull off parts without agreeing to fix/replace/reinstall them. Inspector came out and already agreed what the problem is and this is their inspector. Like with premium warranty I would expect to have some type of premium service. Yet just delay after delay, not by the dealership but by fidelity just being slow and unreasonable. They also dont cover loaner/transportation beyond 10 days. So ill have to practically make a extra car payment to cover for the loaner charges while they are causing the delay. Horrible, horrible, horrible. Worse experience i have had to deal with a warranty company, worse than home warranty companies in Florida. They just dont want to cover and its getting to the point I would have paid less by paying out of pocket than having this warranty. I recently filed a claim with Fidelity and it was denied. Prior to the repair I called them and asked how to file. One of the procedures is to have the dealer call prior to the repair being made. My servicing dealer did try and call for approval however it was impossible to get anyone on the phone due to being on hold indefinitely. The service tech does not have the ability to sit on the phone all day waiting. My repair was made and then I filed myself. Denied due to the fact I filed the claim and not the dealer. Fidelity didn't even notify me I was denied. They stopped communicating and ignored my email. Not until I contacted the BBB did I find out I was denied. This is a terrible company with fraudulent polices and procedures. Ripoff. read more

I bought this warranty from a GM dealer when i purchased my 2016 Yukon XL, 20k later the trans went out and i though i would be in for a hell of a time, but they gave me no resistance and put in a GM remand trans and torque converter through my local GM dealer, I had to pay my $500 deductible but I very happy with the service. I questioned buying the warranty and have always felt that these warranties where a scam.... but i have to say they took good care of me and i would absolutely recommend Fidelity to anyone thinking about buying a aftermarket warranty... I purchased Fidelity's Platinum coverage for my vehicle on September 29, 2017, which included a 7-year, 100,000-mile warranty. On September 29, 2024--the exact 7-year mark--my vehicle broke down. It was brought to the Ford dealer that same day, but they couldn't assess it until a few days later. When they finally checked it in, they contacted Fidelity to file a claim on October 11. Despite the fact that my vehicle has only 77,000 miles on it and has always been serviced exclusively at a Ford dealer, Fidelity refused the claim, citing that it was two days past the coverage period. I requested goodwill consideration, given how close this was to the warranty end date, but Fidelity's response was dismissive. It's incredibly disappointing that Fidelity would show no flexibility or understanding in this situation. Their customer service was lacking in both compassion and basic courtesy. I followed every step the warranty co. Gave me, which was given to me one phone call at a time. I was told to take my car to Banister Nissan on Military Hwy in Norfolk, VA., which I did, I dropped it off along with the warranty info. They denied my claim, stating that I told Banister to repair the vehicle, which, I didn't because I couldn't pay for it. We haven't had the car for 2 years yet and the transmission fails and they don't want to pay, this warranty co. is a rip off. Plus their contract says they'll reimburse you for repairs. read more

Shop owner here, and former technician and service writer... I work with extended warranty companies every day and Fidelity isn't the worst, but they're still really bad. They're stingy with their hours to be paid to the facility, and whatever they refuse to pay will be something that the customer gets stuck with. For parts, they insist on the shop sending them their receipts for the parts used and refuse to pay more than 20% over cost or MSRP (whichever is less). Here's a pro tip - Nobody charges MSRP let alone 20%. The shops are in business to turn a profit and fix cars. The repair shop has to warranty this part, and if it should fail then they have to eat the labor because no warranty company will warranty it for them. Again, this leaves the balance for the shop to either take a loss on, or an extra cost added to the customer's bill. There are many other warranty companies out there who are not miserly and will take care of their customers and the shops who support them. This is the WORST of the WORST possible service... I've purchased a used Corvette from a Honda dealership which was received as a Trade-In vehicle by them. During the sale transaction I asked the Honda guys if they can give me a short term Warranty like two weeks or so, until I can show the car to a GM dealership to be inspected mechanically and structurally since Honda service guys admitted that they were not experienced anything like a Corvette. So, Honda dealership told me that I can buy a two year Warranty from Fidelity for $2600 and after 2 weeks or so, if I decide to cancel I'll receive 100% of my money back with no question asked as long as I cancel my policy within the 30 days of the purchase. 16 days after the purchase I called the dealership and I asked them to cancel my Fidelity Warranty Contract. I've been told I have to do it ONLINE ONLY with the Fidelity directly. So I did that on 3/31/2023. Fidelity makes you jump hoops in order to make the Cancellation process as unpleasant as possible. Still, I managed to complete that process the same day. Fidelity agent told me that they will be issuing a check to me in the amount of $2600 but it may take 4-6 weeks to process this, even though the cancellation was going to be in effect immediately of course. So, after 4 weeks, I called to check the status of our Rebate. The most unpleasant and the most rude lady I've ever encountered in my 65 years as a Customer Service agent answered the call. Her response to my to my question was: " We cancelled your policy on 3/31/2023"... When I said I am aware of that but what happened to the refund of my $2600, her response was " I have no idea we don't deal with the money here, ask your dealership". Then I told her the agent helped us with the cancellation process on 3/31/23 told us we will be mailed a $2600 check directly and even confirmed our mailing address, again, her response was: "What don't you understand when I told you talk to your dealership?" I tried to be calm and asked again, if dealership will be involved at this stage Why I was told by the other agent Fidelity will send us a check and their website NEVER MENTIONS anything to do with the dealership involving with the cancellation process. But againI told her "if what's she saying is the case, then I'd like to know if Fidelity already contacted the dealership regarding my cancellation and refund? Her response " Oh my Lord!!! What don't you understand when I tell you contact your dealership? Jesus!!!" At that point bye were yelling at each other, me telling her to listen my question because she was not even allowing me to finish asking my question as: "If the dealership going to finalize and issue my refund why their agent and website saying Pls Allow us (Fidelity) 4-6 weeks before we finalize and issue your refund and NOTHING mentioned by contacting the dealership within 4-6 weeks... Also, Fidelity and the dealerships they work with LOVE to make their Warranty as a part of the vehicle sale contract. So if you ever cancel your contract they will make Your Refund go to your vehicle's lien holder instead of to your pocket. Genius, right? I don't give a darn if Fidelity says they will cover my Corvette next 10 years bumper to bumper for $1... I will not touch this company with a 10 ft poll... I purchased the gold package for my son's used car. After 3 years, it has a few things that went wrong including the biggest one, the transmission which needed to be replaced. I called the Fidelity Warranty services and the person in detail reviewed the steps in opening a claim. We found a dealership nearby that I usually go and placed a claim after the dealership did their assessment. Approval of repairs was fast !!! Dealership started the repairs and after several days of having a rental, the car was finally finished. The dealership submitted a request to Fidelity for payment and they received it right away. I was able to pickup the car less than 24 hrs and only pay a $250 deductible from $8200 repairs. A couple days later, I received a reimbursement check for my car rental. I am very pleased with the process, excellent customer service, and fast response on approval for repairs and reimbursement of car rental. None of this covered under the warranty which was sold to me as running after my Hyundai warranty expired. I spent $3,800 for the 3-year "Platinum" warranty on my 2014 Porsche Boxster S. About a year and a half later, the insulation in the drain gutter in the side panel of my car melted and caused it to plug up, causing water to pool underneath the passenger seat. That caused the amplifier to short-circuit and burn out. I was literally told by the dealer that this was not user error, but instead an obvious design/materials defect. The insulation material should never melt. Fidelity would not cover the repairs, and told me nothing with the body was covered by a $3,800 warranty that they market as their best (called "PLATINUM"). He told me I should have read the fine print. I purchased the warranty through my Porsche dealership, so I assumed it wasn't fraudulent, trash but apparently I was completely wrong. Like many reviewers below, I believe this company is a total fraud and scam. I only have this one experience, but it matches up with others' that they will find some BS "exclusion" to deny your coverage, making the warranty effectively useless to you. read more

This warranty was included in my car sale. The details were not disclosed. I had to contact the dealership who told me there was a small blue link that led to a PDF with the details of the coverage. None the less, I have a right to cancel it for any reason per the contract.... in writing. They have no contact on their website for Auto Guard. I followed their directions and sent a certified letter. Someone named "J Covid" signed for it. If there is someone there with that name, my apologies. If there isn't someone there named J Covid, that would be unprofessional and concerning. Still no one has contacted me. I just want a confirmation by email that the cancellation is in process. I purchased the Fidelity Platinum warranty for my Porsche at the suggestion of my service rep, who was not even at a place who could sell it to me, so I knew it was unbiased advice! I used it multiple times over the years on the car, for the side mirror which stopped aligning once it rotated closed, the starter, two coils, and...an entire transmission when mine started having an odd shudder at a certain speed. As you might guess, Fidelity having covered every one of these made my payback more than twice what I paid for the warranty, like the Mercedes owner who also posted here. The only thing they didn't cover was replacing the six other coils proactively before they failed to avoid a breakdown, which seems understandable (so I paid that myself to have a reliable car as coils simply do fail over time). Also, being in California, I can not only now transfer the warranty to the next owner, I can sell it back for a prorated refund, which will make the payback on what it cost more like 3-4X. I wish I could get Fidelity for my next car as well, but they don't cover Bentleys. I am trying Total Auto-Protect, but the first thing which went wrong they are already saying they don't think it is covered. It surprises me to see such a negative rating and people saying Fidelity would not cover things when I liked them so much that I am disappointed I cannot get them for another car. My only guesses are either that my Porsche dealer knew how to work with them, or that the people who had coverage issues had a lower coverage level than Platinum which made the coverage of their issue a matter of disagreement, or even misunderstanding of what was covered. read more

Steering wheel lock/defective ($800) 4. Gas Pedal lock/defective ($600) 3 and 4 makes me never want to buy another mercedes again tbh.. but for every repair, i went to benz dealerships only. Always worried if the failing unit is going to be covered by fidelity, as they are insanely costly. But every time, fidelity paid out. I got double (maybe even close to triple) my moneys worth.
