We have continued to call and email Fidelity Investments. They refuse to talk to us about the money that was stolen from our account. I'm very sad to give this 1-star review (actually zero) that Fidelity deserves, but this action is absolutely necessary due to poor performance and terrible accounting procedures, IMO. I'm a long-time client who initially encountered Fidelity back when Peter Lynch was their honored investment advisor for Magellan Fund, which had incredible performance at that time (he retired in 1990). Though Fidelity's offices relocated from Devonshire St. in downtown Boston to the 'burbs, my review applies to the overall firm. Reps at my local Fidelity offices are great but Fidelity Investments has proven to be terrible, IMO. In recent decades I've encountered many serious technical issues and, more important to clients, inconsistent account data displayed on their ATP online platform and on fidelity.com. Years ago I notified their billionaire CEO Abigail Johnson in writing to identify specific errors that require correction on behalf of all Fidelity clients. No reply was received, of course, as Abigail is likely too busy spending time elsewhere instead of caring about Fidelity's serious ongoing issues that ultimately result in costs to Fidelity clients. FYI, ATP crashes frequently on MacOS often & sometimes on Windows also. Again today I noticed the same serious inconsistent data between online ATP and online fidelty.com, and await a phone callback from a Fidelity rep. ATP fails to display the same data about a sell order placed on ATP. Notification of trade execution was received on phone and appears on fidelity.com, but ATP incorrectly indicates that sold shares remain unsold. When checking "orders" for "All accounts," ATP shows none. But when attempting to place the same order again, ATP is unable to find shares to sell (as they had already sold!). Both confusing and costly at the very least. If you're willing to live with incorrect account data, choose Fidelity as your broker. Otherwise, my strong recommendation is to avoid Fidelity; I know of no such issues with our Schwab accounts but Fidelity has failed to fix theirs over the past decade. IMO Fidelity will never listen to client feedback & the SEC should take strong legal action against Fidelity. read more

Contacted Fidelity to withdraw funds to invest elsewhere. Everything seemed to go smoothly on the phone, but the check never showed up. Called and they said they dropped the ball and failed to do what we had instructed them to do. Told them we needed them to process the request and send the check over night, along with another overnight envelop to send the check to the new investment firm. They said they would and unless we heard back from them, everything was going to transpire as requested. Well, once again they didn't do what they said they would, and the check showed up after we left town! They DO NOT do what they promise!!! We lost a ton of money during this transaction due to their NEGLIGENCE and INCOMPETENCE!!!! read more

I wish my company had not chosen to use Fidelity to manage employee Flexible Spending Account or investments. I regularly receive emails challenging the spending on my Flexible Spending Account. Fidelity requires submissions of DETAILED receipts which is fine, but they give insufficient / incorrect information on the items in question and I have to research every case by calling large healthcare corporations who bought out the small clinics I go to and I have no idea who owns what clinics. For example, Fidelity NEVER provides the correct service dates and sometimes even the correct clinic names so the only thing I have to go by is a dollar amount. Sometimes when I get to the right mother company, they still cannot help me because I'm not at the right "branch company" that the large healthcare corporations farmed out their billings to. It's a nightmare of guessing games trying to chase down these expenses, which are typically less than $10. I spend hours on the phone with healthcare customer service people who are unable to help me because Fidelity does not provide correct information. When I call Fidelity Customer Service for clarification, their response is basically "To bad for you, not our problem". It really speaks to the sad state of our healthcare system and associated services. Their website is not intuitive and it took multiple calls for me just to get to the unhelpful information. I guess the irony is that I've been in it so many times I'm now an expert on their unfriendly website. I've wasted untold hours and stand to lose the hard earned money I put into the the Flexible Spending Account because Fidelity requires detailed receipts but cannot give me correct information to track down these expenses. They have no business being in the Flexible Spending Account world, and I don't know whether to laugh or cry when their Customer Service representative told me she is so proud of Fidelity because it does such a good job preventing freud. I have never had these issues with other companies who managed my Flexible Spending Account in the past. I think it's more like Fidelity does such a good job defrauding us little people who have to go against this big corporation who wants to keep us from FSA reimbursement we're rightly entitle to. Does Fidelity consider itself fraudulent when it provides incorrect information? Their investment portion isn't much better either. I'm constantly bombarded with their advertisements emails because they're more focused on making money than providing decent service. I can't even unsubscribe to these useless emails because they manage my 401K investments. read more

I have had the worse experience with Fidelity who manages the payments of my monthly pension. I called and told them that my bank account was closed, I provided them with the new banking information, and they did not update it on both accounts even though I was told it was done. One of my payments went to the correct bank, but the other one was sent to the closed account that I advised them of. I am supposed to receive my payments on May 1st and here it is now May 12th and I still haven't received my funds, this is needed for me to pay my rent. This has been a total embarrassment to me to have to keep calling my landlord and tell him that Fidelity still has my funds. I was told it was resent on May 10th via direct deposit, and I still don't have it. I also asked for the corporate headquarters phone number and was denied that number, then they said they would provide me with an address to a satellite office which I do not want. After telling the rep that I wanted the corporate address, she finally gave it to me. As a customer, I have the right to speak to someone at the corporate office in Boston, MA. I will never do business with this investment firm. Fidelity has taken no accountability on this issue. I was told that the girl that did this was under investigation, but what does that do for me in the meantime - ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!!! I also mentioned that this was all their fault, and I should receive some kind of compensation for their incompetence. read more

I've been investing for decades and do it for myself and for friends who give me full trading authority on the Fidelity Accounts,, What ever you do, DO NOT BUY ANY TYPE OF ANNUITY FROM FIDELITY. The annuity department is filled with arrogant and incompetent people. Lying is common. Making up facts as they go along, which are usually wrong. HIDDEN fees in the Annuities. The rest of Fidelity is no prize either. Rolling over IRA's to Fidelity from other investment firms has been a disaster. They rush. They make mistake. YOU suffer. Been an investor for 50 years. Do NOT go near Fidelity. Too much to get into here, but trust me. I know more than most of the people who work at Fidelity. They are incompetent. They are dishonest. They are sloppy. They do NOT have your best interest at heart. They're only after your money. read more

DO NOT USE FIDELITY!!! They randomly locked my account as soon as I opened it. They requested forms to be submitted and said they would unlock my account in 2-3 business days. What a nightmare must be to work for Fidelity! I have an account with Fidelity Roth IRA that I have no use for. It have been so many years that I opened it, but not used the service. The Customer Representatives are so rude, when I ask for help, today, to access my account. I gave them any possible information they asked except for the date I had opened this account. All i have in my account is only $54 dollars. Yes, right Fifty-four dollars :). But they refused to help me on the premises that they could not the date i opened it, 11-12 years ago. Very cold people, with no common sense, and no help whatsoever! I am so glad I stopped investing my money with Fidelity! read more

I am a large individual investor with this company. I am so DISGUSTED w/ their customer service--or lack thereof--that I am going to take the time to move all my money elsewhere. Since March 20th I have been trying to fund a roll-over IRA. Since I have an account at Fidelity and it's cash rolling in they said it would only take 3-5 days. It's a month later and it has not occurred. They take 45 minutes to 1 hour to answer all calls. They then put you on hold to research this issue. That runs another 20-30 minutes. Then they start to read you notes that you can tell are all wrong. If you ask for a supervisor they tell you they don't have any. If you send a secure email message which they say will be answered w/in 24-48 hours, you never get an answer. I have sent 6 over 4 weeks and never gotten even 1 response. If this is how they treat their Million $ investors how will they treat you? I am moving to another brokerage. I am tired of being treated like a piece of crap. read more

What a nightmare dealing with this place. If you are older and retired, I would move your money immediately. Here's what happened to me and my father. My father appointed me POA and we sent the required paperwork into Fidelity. My brother was miffed he wasn't appointed POA, so to get revenge on my father, he called Fidelity and told them he was incompetent and that the new POA was invalid. Now you would think a normal place of business would ask him to provide some documentation -- a doctor's assessment, something. Not Fidelity. They promptly froze his accounts and denied me and him to his money. I even sent them a recent cognitive assessment my dad had as part of his physical. It took two months to get them to approve it. Recently, my father received a letter from Fidelity saying he and I were again restricted from withdrawing any money from his accounts. Apparently, my brother had called them and told them he was filing a petition for a third party conservator appointed for my dad. I asked them if he submitted any documentation, and they said no. But they ended "We're really not taking sides..." The petition my brother filed was full of lies and false statements that I immediately disproved to the court because I had all the emails my brother had sent me saying otherwise. We expect it to be dismissed. My father's big mistake was not immediately moving his money out of there after the first snafu. We won't make that mistake again. For anyone who has investments and thinks you have a proper estate plan and Durable POA, Fidelity has demonstrated through their actions, they will not honor it. read more

In my opinion Buyer Beware paid fourteen years to be ripped off!!! Had a policy for many years on twenty years they would have sent us a check for twenty thousand dollars approx. After fourteen years they wouldn't accept credit card making it difficult to make payment we sent check ahead of time they held check so policy lapsed. We will never get our money promised. We dont have life insurance as a result and will never trust a life insurance company again!!!! read more

This is the most dishonest group I have ever worked with in my entire 25 year trading career. I open the account on Tuesday and fund it on Wednesday with a BANK CERTIFIED CHECK made out to FIDELITY INVESTMENTS which means they had their money (or should I say MY MONEY) immediately. Now this was a small investment of $5000.00 and when I went to trade it I could not trade a penny stock ( which I was coded for the day I opened the account) due to the fact I had to wait till the following Thursday for them to collect my funds. Now you know that is a bunch of BULLSHIT because it is a certified WELLS FARGO check made out to them. What they do ladies and gentlemen is they use YOUR money for a week to make money with. I set and lost $3000.00 on the stock I was trying to buy while I talked to these morons. I will be getting my money back and I will never do business with these crooks ever again. I highly suggest anyone else besides these crooks when thinking about where to put your hard earned money. Think about it I have been trading for 25 years and never had such a rash of shit. read more

I have called in several times for service on my account and these people are just dense. And clueless. And unhelpful. And incompetent.

They refused to open an account for my wife who is a legal resident of the United States, with a green card, and married to a US Citizen (me). She has no criminal or otherwise untoward history at all. They closed her account and refused to offer a reason - "we don't have to" was their response on the phone. They were also very rude to me when I made an inquiry as to why the account was closed. We were locked out of our account and had no way to trace the funds we sent them. Really a bad experience I'm sorry to report. read more

Could you update your phone system, so when your waiting for customer service, your told if its going to be 2 minutes for 20 minutes. Example: "Thank you for calling Fidelity, your wait time to speak with a representative is approximately 3 minutes" This way, the customer can make a decision about if they want to wait on hold or call back when its more convenient. I've called the past 2 days, each wait was over 15 minutes, so I gave up. Its would be a courtesy to clients, since our time is valuable too!! Thanks. read more

Ok, maybe Fidelity does a good job at many things, BUT their Fidelity NetBenefits website is dreadful. After waiting 10 days to take a normal distribution, I still have had no luck -- no info on the website, no one there on the weekend to help. No live chat. Geez, Louise. Get a grip people. I'll bet the Affordable Healthcare site works better than this! read more

I have been a Fidelity investments client, in Bellevue WA, for at least 14 years. I am a knowledgeable and experienced investor. Lately, I have had just about the worst customer service I can imagine from Fidelity Investments. That was more than two weeks ago. *%#@+! read more

Fidelity Credit card recently changed their billing agent from FIA Card Services to Elan. It is the most messed up transition I've ever seen. I was billed and paid FIA Card Services last month, and FIA just deleted the payment and didn't inform Elen or Fidelity. This led to late payments and interest charges even though the bill was paid. The newest statement from Elan didn't reflect the credit - BECAUSE the statement was written on 8/12 but didn't arrive until 9/1. Horrible customer service. Terrible transition. Bad business. read more

My wife and I consolidated all twelve of our retirement, brokerage and 529 accounts at Fidelity in Danvers a couple of years ago. It's convenient locations throughout Mass., excellent service (both phone and premium account representatives), terrific web site, and the availability of lost cost Spartan Index Funds, convinced me to bypass Vanguard (whose business model I admire). Keep in mind, Fidelity"s goal is making money and their account reps are salespeople who lack a fiduciary standard relationship with customers. They are "commission free", but read Fidelity's compensation page about bonuses paid to them quarterly (lately they are pushing high commissioned annuities to appropriate customers). I highly recommend Fidelity to mutual fund investors. read more

I have never been treated ruder in all my days. sorry, but i am a newbie, of course with numerous questions and before i can even get one answered i am told they are canceling my membership and dont want to talk to me!! unbelievable. Boy, was the lady i talked to rude. first i call and get an operator that was talking at the speed of light. she then quiclkly shuffles me off to another number asking me for a username and password when i havent even set up an account yet. of course i have to hang up and call back only to be put on hold and then given another number. finally, three calls into it, i get some lady that instead of realizing that i am frustrated just compounds my frustration by canceling my membership and telling me not to call back. What a way to treat a frustrated customer and a newbie at that. My first question was what i thought was a simple one. when i was on the phone with the TOS tradedesk inquiring as to where do i place a trade for fidelities "blue chip growth" fund, the operator asked me what the symbol was? I didn't know what it was because it was no where in sight on the newsletter i was holding in my hand. I told the operator that if it was so important i think they would have it on the newsletter, he then explained that is is very important and that i have to have it to place the trade...that is where i got confussed. me being a newbie, i immediately thought that maybe i was missing something and maybe i better call the number on the newsletter. well, of course there were two numbers on the sheet and again, of course i called the wrong one. i got some informative hotine full of information, at the time, i did not need. on the second call i was hustled onto another number asking for account number and such, so again i had to hang up and call back. that's when the story started and i met the "nice" lady from fidelity investments who hung up on me and canceled my membership. Thanks Fidelity. read more
