We visited this tiny little cafe/bar in Porto the first night we arrived.
The ambiance is very chill and inviting. There is limited seating inside and outside. There were about 2-3 tables on the patio and 3-5 tables inside. The whole bar is set up with eclectic tastes, but, focuses on music and art. The owner had unique pieces from all over the world: vinyl records, art books, antiques, photos, paintings. Just a very visually stimulating place.
The bar was fully stocked and offered local beers. We ordered the Super Bock, which locals claim is the best of all Portuguese beers (we have no opinion as we only tried one or two). The owner and bartender were close friends and serenaded the entire place. They gave us Porto style and Lisboa style music. If I could upload my video, I would!
The bar is fairly priced. Our children shared a fresh squeezed lemonade for €2, I had a mixed drink for €2,5 and the hubby had the Portuguese beer for €3. There were some light snacks available.
The great thing about this bar is that it's closely located to the metro. So you can take the metro at Trindade or Bolhão to get there. You must buy a ticket and validate. There is local police that monitor this.
From the bar it's a short walk down to the historic Rio Duoro where you can view the city of Gaia across the river. The Dom Luis bridge is also very close. It's a great way to end your evening or start you evening. It's a place that left a memorable mark on my soul and I would bring my mother, grandmother and entire family there if it were an option.
Don't be afraid to practice your Portuguese here either. The owner and staff do speak other languages but they're excited when tourists try and are happy to help out with pronunciation and vocabulary. read more
