My order took over twice the quoted timeline. He sends a work order then tells you to email him if anything else is needed so he can update the work order, then doesn't update the work order. He ignore obvious flaws in a guitar that any pro would question and bring to the attention of the customer. I was sent back a guitar with a screw hole on the bottom of the guitar that has zero use or logic where it was drilled. Anyone else would have questioned it. It was brought up prior to Sims receiving the guitar and he acknowledged fixing the hole and sent it back completely finished with a hole still in it. Beware

I chose Patrick Sims based on the quality of his work, which I had seen on his business Facebook page. I paid $597 on 2/15/25, and he received the bass body on 3/12/25. Initial estimate to completion was 12 weeks. Patrick was very responsive during the sales process. However, I had not received a response to my requests for an update from Patrick since 5/17/25, in which he acknowledged my address change and confirmed that "The body should be ready to go by mid-June". Mid-June passed but I waited to reach out in the event he was busy. I contacted Patrick via email on 7/10/25 requesting an update. No response. I emailed again on 8/28/25. No response. I called on 9/3/25 and left a voicemail to which he returned my call asking for my order information. I provided that info by email and text. No response. I again waited, then texted Patrick on 9/30/25. No response. I called Patrick on 10/1/25. Straight to voicemail. Inbox full. It has to be said that I noticed a number of reviews of the same nature over the last few months, which I had neglected to check before placing the order. I'm sure most would agree they'd feel it unacceptable to place an order and fail to get a business response about their order in over 4 months. Communication and transparency is fairly basic customer service. It seemed the only option I had left was to lodge a complaint with the BBB. Unfortunately, it seems that is the action needed in more than just my experience to elicit a response from Patrick. Within a week of my complaint I received my project. I will give Patrick his due, the paint job is incredible, and I am more than pleased with the finish. I was however also further disappointed in the poor decorum exercised by Patrick on the closing of this situation. Less than 90 minutes after receiving the item, Patrick had the audacity, after not responding for 4 months, to complain "Haven't heard a peep from him" before accusing me of not being honest enough to revise this review. In addition to that, an unfortunate typo for my name on the return label spelt "Hoe". Benefit of the doubt, I'll chalk that down to an honest mistake. My frustrations could have been easily solved by responding to my communications. I understand timeframes are estimates, and we all have lives that are unpredictable. I would have been happy with any delay if I'd just been kept in the loop. I also would have been happy had Patrick given me an appropriate timeframe from the outset. Stating somewhere between 3-8 months would have been more accurate, and based on the quality of his work I still would have proceeded. It seems most customers who received their orders and were happy with the finished product have all given the same constructive criticism. It seems common sense that the time spent responding to BBB complaints and Google reviews could just as easily have been spent updating customers on their orders and avoiding the negative experience that is unfortunately blemishing an otherwise great final product. Paint job is five stars. Customer service is one star. Settling on three stars due to the time wasted feeling frustrated dealing with poor customer service. At the end of the day, that is something that could be improved, and I really hope that Patrick is able to do so in the future.
