Bayfront Park has parking, a paved walkway, water fountains, and benches. There is also a historical marker that relates the history of how the 1870's settlement of Biscayne became the Miami Shores of today. The best feature of the park is the scenic view of Biscayne Bay, a diverse marine ecosystem that is home to two state aquatic preserves, an environmentally important wildlife area, a national park, and national marine sanctuary. Biscayne Bay is a highly productive subtropical estuary fueled by large volumes of freshwater from the Everglades. This clean freshwater mixes with ocean water creating low salinities on the western side of the bay which promotes growth of mangroves, oysters and seagrass beds. During my visit kids were fishing from the walkway, someone was reading a book, and other people were walking their dog. This park is known as a great place to catch a sunset or watch the moon rise. For a few moments you can sit on a bench and escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life as you indulge in relaxation and peaceful reflection.

In 1936 the Miami Beach Fishing Pier Company was contracted to build the 800 foot long Sunny Isles…read morePier in order to attract visitors to the area. For many years the pier was embraced by locals, visitors, and fishermen. By 1980 the pier had aged and was deemed unsafe and talks began about tearing it down. In 1982 it was designated a historic site which paved the way for it being saved in 1985 by the new owners, Newport Beachside Hotel & Resort who purchased it from the city and renamed it the Newport Fishing Pier. The pier is located directly behind the hotel. The hotel reopened the pier in 1986 after making a million dollars in repairs. In 2005 Hurricane Wilma damaged the pier structurally. The Newport Beachside Hotel & Resort entered into a partnership with Sunny Isles to restore it. Two million dollars toward the project was provided by the owners of the hotel and the rest of the six and a half million dollar project was paid for by the city in exchange for having the pier deeded over to them as part of Pier Park. In 2012 the pier was taken down and rebuilt with hurricane rated impact windows and doors in the Beach Bar, the restaurant on the pier. There is also a lifeguard observation area on the second floor. After eight years of being closed, the 776 foot pier reopened to the public in 2013. Today this is the last remaining public fishing pier in Miami-Dade County. Unlike a lot of piers it is free to walk out on it and there is a nominal charge if you are fishing. I had an enjoyable walk out over the ocean and I really like the Beach Bar. It looked like a nice place to grab a bite and a drink. The parking lot for Pier Park is extremely limited but their is a garage a block away for $2 per hour. This is a great stop if you find yourself in Sunny Isles.

Calvin even bated the hooks, untangled my lines and taught us how to reel the rods. I caught nothing. But my son and his friend Mikey both caught huge King Fish. Calvin gutted them and scaled them -and handed us over the freshest most delicious fish we've had- ever. There were some serious fisherman on the boat too- which makes me believe that this experience is good for both novices like us and pros. I highly recommend this experience and despite a little rough waves- would go back soon. Ask for Captain Richie and Calvin.

Captain Mark approached him and told him that because his skin was "too dark," he had to pay immediately. He was shocked and offended by this comment. No customer should ever be treated differently based on the color of their skin. He's experience was completely unacceptable and felt discriminatory. I would not recommend this captain to anyone. By the way they didn't catch anything because the captain was focused on fishing instead of driving the boat to different spots.

Every detail was handled, every question answered, and the energy on the boat was confident but relaxed. We ended up landing a 7.5 ft sailfish and a 14 ft hammerhead - a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. What stood out most wasn't just the fish, though. It was how Captain Jack and Christina guided us through every step of the fight. Clear coaching, constant communication, and total composure even when things got intense. Christina worked nonstop and went above and beyond all day. Both of them were incredibly kind, patient, and genuinely excited for us. You can tell they care deeply about what they do and about the experience their guests have. I've fished a lot of places, and this was one of the most memorable days I've ever had offshore. If you're even considering booking with them - do it. You won't regret it.

The best part is all the gear and equipment and bait is included for all paying guests. There's several trip options to choose from. Early morning, during the days and their late night trip. We have done all, and I prefer the late nights. The water is calmer, it's not as hot, and it's pretty relaxing if you ask me. The business operates daily, weather permitting. The boats are pretty big, they seem to be able to hold about 30 persons on the fishing level. There's an upper deck for a smaller fee, for people who do not want to fish, but go along for the ride. You're welcome to keep whatever you catch, depending the size of course. Once we cough a nurse shark, we were not able to keep it, but it sure had eveyone taking onboard! You're also allowed to bring your meals and drinks on board. It's definitely a party if you make friends with your neighbors and enjoy the tour. I'll definitely continue using this company for years to come.
