It was our first time staying in Tijuana and attending the festival. The food was excellent, we tried the brisket. Your $10 entrance fee allows you all-day access. We purchased bottles you can't get in Cali. We're looking forward to next year's expo.

Admission 100 Mexican Pesos or US $ 5. You can try free different types of tequila and you can also buy tequilas. There are also performances, Mexican folklore like dances, music, and songs. There is also a food court next to it. It is worth visiting and I recommend it. Tequila Expo in Tijuana is every year. My recommendation to avoid headaches buy good quality tequila with the words on the bottle "100% Agave" - BTW "How to Take a Straight Tequila Shot - The Spruce Eats https://www.thespruceeats.com ' Drinks & Cocktails ' Cocktails ' Cocktail Basics Feb 5, 2019 - "Lick, Sip, Suck" Moisten the back of your hand below the index finger (usually by licking) and pour on the salt. Lick the salt off your hand. The salt lessens the burn of the tequila. Drink the tequila. Quickly bite into and suck the lemon or lime wedge. The sour fruit balances and enhances the flavor of the tequila."

Highlights for my were the food truck alley, nostalgic car roll, the many artisan vendors, not to mention the additional food vendors, and the entertainment on the several stages. I interacted with a number of the vendors, volunteers, and festival goers and everyone was great. I liked that they had stuff for adults and families to enjoy, and I especially loved that they had a place sectioned off only for adults with libations and eats. The festival is also situated at a great park, J Street Marina Bayside Park, with its great view of San Diego harbor.

A lot of Ceviche! Unfortunately, the seafood ran out early for several of the vendors, but I guess that just shows how popular this event is, eh? We discovered a couple of truly outstanding places we want to check out - one in La Jolla on Girard and the other right here in CV! After the bites and sips, we walked around the HarborFest grounds to check out the various booths, including commercial, governmental, and NGO's like Scripps Aquarium and Seaworld (maybe Seaworld doesn't qualify as an NGO - at least their stockholders are hoping so, LOL). Everybody seemed to be having a great time. There were three live stages with bands and lots of activities for the kiddies. The weather was balmy and the bay breeze really made this a pleasant day in the sun. Unlike others, we were able to park for free on the street. The $10 "preferred parking" in a dirt lot was silly. We were closer to the entrance than a lot of the paying customers! This event shows a lot of promise, and with a little more organization, I know it is going to be even more fun in the future!

It's free, but parking can be a major pain in the butt…read more We drove down from Escondido to see IB's famous Sandcastle competition. We were fortunate to have a parking driveway reserved for us, but the traffic was really bad and people were parking many many blocks away from the beach area. Paid parking lots were even farther away.. Overall this was a fun time, though I suppose if you came here for just for the sandcastles you might be disappointed. This year's theme was "Pirates" and I think they did a good job hiring the right people to entertain guests. Bonus points for not hiring that fake Jack Sparrow that seems to find himself at every event in San Diego. They also had a large kid area for various crafts. Sandcastles - After talking with some of the locals I found out that the professional sandcastle builders no longer come to this event and it's much smaller than previous years ( back when the US Open for Sandcastles was held here). So come with an open mind if you're looking for true master craft sandcastles. Food - Various street vendors and food trucks. I think the best options were the big slices of pizza, and the street tacos sold next door. Tip - If you're just wanting to see sandcastles you might want to come after 4pm.. The festival ends at 5 and people start leaving en masse. Plus you get to see a sunset too. - Imperial Beach doesn't have a lot of beach area between the ocean and where the castles were made. You're going to have to hike a bit to find some empty beach space. That is unless you want to sit yourself by the sandcastles ( Which surprisingly / not surprisingly some people seemed to be okay with castle watchers standing on their beach towels and invading their personal space...

Street parking was tricky as expected, and there were also options for paid lot parking. The festival offered live music, some vendors and food stands/trucks. But back to the review, please take time to go on the first week of May! There was around 500 vendors, I might be wrong but it was about six blocks full of fun things to be found. They do need some more things for men but then again, women are more in to shopping as a collective. If you love jewelry, small business finds, and food, it's definitely something I will be coming back for. I can't wait to go next year and replenish my earring collection. Recently started to collect them! We also had the most amazing freakin cake!!!! OMGAH!!!! I promise, if you like a cake that isn't dry, even a coffee cake that isn't dry, this company is worth ordering from! I am going to be ordering some yummy gifts for people in the future. It's called Dolce Monachelli's they do have a website and it's the best Bundt cake you will ever have. They have a cute sampler you can always get as a gift bc I will be gifting with these cakes! I think this is the best cake I've ever had! Sorry I don't have picks of the cake lol it was just too good and I forgot.
