After he landed the Life Flight Team called me to update and to say they landed giving me the next person's name that will take over care. Again, AMAZING TEAM the Emergency Department has there. Thank you to Nurse Denise,Dr. Israel, and the many others that were involved. Don't be fooled because it's a small place, they have a BIG HEART!

I grew up in Carbondale and had to visit the hospital frequently due to my chronic pain condition. The local hospital was fine for pediatric services, but my care dwindled severely as an adult. Had I known about this place 10 years ago, I would have; without hesitation, driven 45 miles in excruciating pain to receive the exceptionally high quality care that I have received here. The doctor I had was so knowledgeable and willing to explain everything to me regarding my condition and her care plan. She willingly stated that my illness was not her expertise. She then actively sought guidance from the experts by reaching out to my specialist at a major hospital in Missouri. Her commitment to ensuring that she was providing me the best care possible was so refreshing. She believed me when I told her my symptoms and did not hesitate to start my treatment plan. The nurses there were so patient and accommodating. They were willing to learn and admit when they needed help, in an effort to save me from experiencing any unnecessary discomfort. My nurse worked very hard to ensure that I was comfortable and pain free. She was kind and patient and frequently used the words "I'll try" instead of "No". I couldn't have designed a better place myself to treat my pain crisis and keep an eye on my unborn child in the process. I will ALWAYS come here before I go anywhere else in Southern Illinois. I recommend you do as well.

He has private Insurance and Medicare + Part D for prescriptions and eye care. He was in the hospital for 3 days. He was released still contagious with several prescriptions. So e breathing equipment with. No instructions!! He has gotten several bills for his visit from places we have never heard of with no itemized charges. That have been denied for payment thru his insurance. They are using unethical billing practices. And aren't being transparent on the charges he was billed for. Very unhappy with the whole visit to this local hospital.
