At Wazi, she tried all kinds of activities that she had never even heard of, such as archery, and came home with new interests. She also matured tremendously over that summer as these young kids are given the opportuntiy to choose which activities they would like to do, take care of themselves and make all kinds of decisions on their own. My daughter felt safe and happy all summer. During the 2021 summer, they did an amazing job of letting the kids enjoy a mostly normal camp experience even though COVID was still around. Last year at 9 years old we sent our son to Bridgton. We live in Florida so it was a huge…read moredecision. Our son being the oldest of 3 boys, we thought of many benefits. Our younger boys get more time with us, our oldest gets to mature and learn responsibilities. The college campus setting is a plus, as opposed to cabins. He would get to experience living in that setting. We wanted him to have experience outside of Florida in another part of the county. Having access to the lake, fishing and boating more pluses. Lastly, as a hockey player being able to play hockey over the summer and against boys from all over would be incredible. We were hesitant, is he ready, will he be ok??? We dropped him off and never looked back. The campus, the counselors we met were incredible, coupled with Koop's leadership and experience - WOW. Fast forward to seeing our boy after 21 days at camp. Would you go back? "Yes, I had the best time ever". Here we are again, 10 year old ready to go have the best 3 weeks of the year! If you have any worries, there is no need.

Even in the year leading up to the summer Louis was been beyond responsive and attentive. No question is ever a bother. At one point I was hesitant to send the boys to camp at all and he even did a home visit to reassure me and the boys about the upcoming summer. We just returned from visiting weekend. Although I have only received positive communication from my children thus far I didn't know what to expect. My children are both happy, comfortable, learning and thriving. They are very well cared for and loved by EVERYONE. As a first time mom (especially) this is so reassuring. The entire administration and staff are friendly, welcoming and loving to each individual child. I already signed up for next year and can't wait to see and hear about the rest of the summer when my kids return! My 6 year old also had the best time on visiting day and was made to feel comfortable. If he could have stayed and spent the rest of the summer I'm sure he would have! We love Camp Wildwood!

The group of friends he made over the years has already had 2 mini-reunions since returning home just 2 months ago. He has made friends for life from around the world. Our youngest is already counting the days left before next summer, which will be his 5th consecutive summer. The camp itself is spectacular. It's on a picturesque lake. The choices for activities are endless and include: sailing, water skiing, kayaking, archery, rocket making, gymnastics, cooking, drawing, swimming, fishing, tennis, soccer, baseball, and so many more. The grounds are beautifully maintained. Roger and Dagni take care of each child as though s/he was one of their own. Because the camp has such a stellar reputation, Roger and Dagni have their pick of counselors to hire. The counselors are excellent with kids, have extensive knowledge and experience with their skills, and come from all over the globe. Many work as coaches at schools during the school year. Our kids rave about the food and constantly tell us that we need to get the recipes from camp. There are chaperoned flights from many major US cities making travel to/from camp worry-free for parents. We also love that the camp offers 2 independent, 4-week sessions. The campers start and end each session with the same group of kids. The consistency of having the same kids at camp from start to finish has allowed our kids to form strong friendships and really feel part of the Laurel South family. If only adults could be campers!

The people I met over those 6 summers continue to be some of my closest friends and confidants. The directors take a genuine interest in campers, their parents, and the staff members. From a camper perspective: camp is incredible: you meet campers and counselors who come from around the world (literally, one of my closest camp friends grew up and lives in Spain). You spend your days swimming on the lake, singing songs, playing tennis, and learning how to live in the woods. Nighttime activities include everything from camp-wide Harry Potter-themed Olympics to shaving parties (for the teenage girls) to simply hanging out with your (super cool) counselors. You can hike Mount Washington and canoe up and down the many lakes of Maine and New Hampshire. From a counselor perspective: I was admittedly exhausted for most of the time, but it was incredibly fun and shaped my life in ways I didn't realize at the time. I now work in Corporate America, but the experiences I gained--building rapport with campers of varying ages, supervising staff, learning how to manage my time, and remembering to take time to rest--have helped me quite a bit in my "adult" life. Now in its 100th summer, Camp Arcadia is the place to be!

Well, there really is not enough space for me to detail all of the positive attributes of kamp…read morekohut. First introduced to the camp via neighbors back in the late 90's I was always curious about this place that local Mainers excitedly went away to for a month. When we moved from Maine to New York we wanted our two youngest to have an opportunity to explore the out of doors that their older siblings had growing up in Maine. We enrolled them in kohut and for the following 8 years watched as each summer they grew, tried new things, unplugged and fell in love with their kohut family. There are fewer more satisfying feelings of comfort with a decision, than when you drop your child off at camp and they bolt away, running into the arms of favorite counselors and friends from previous seasons. I have the pleasure of saying that one of my kids actually was a counselor for a summer, while his two siblings attended Kohut, experiencing Kohut from the "the other side". One of my favorite parts of Kohut is that kids have an opportunity to try things that maybe they wouldn't dare attempt in their everyday lives. My son developed an interest and talent for fencing, and became interested in the guitar, both while at Kohut. He has taken these experiences to higher levels, but gained that initial confidence while at camp. I'll never forget those first two summers, picking up the kids, and having them regale us with stories and songs about their favorite moments. This past summer was our last at Kohut, and I found myself tearing up as I picked up my now nearly six foot tall son, who remained in my eyes that 7 year old, in his kohut shirt standing beneath the pines. I would highly recommend Kamp Kohut to anyone considering a summer camp.
