Situatted on the site of Ferndale Rugby Club the new building housing Ferns Restaurant, called Rhondda Life, offers food in three outlets. Enter through the front enterance and you have a choice between a sports bar and Sir Stanley Baker lounge area. Both offering different menu's to suit different clients.
Enter through the side (or through the lounge if you wish) and up the stairs you are greeted by a member of staff that shows you to your table. All staff were really friendly, drinks were brought to the table and waiters were very polite.
Our table was seated next to a window, around half the size of the restaurant that offered a breath taking view of the valley, whilst soft acoustic music played in the background, a perfect atmosphere perfect for families, groups of friends etc. I was very suprised that the sound level was nice and quiet even though loud bar areas were situated down below.
The food is excellent, with a mix of traditional bar and grill meals, with something a little different. I settled for the Gammon, The steak was about an inch thick and came served with 2 eggs, chips, peas and the usual dressing. There was a bar sporting wines, spirits and bottled beer/soft drinks at the restaurant however draft drinks are avalable from the downstairs bars which are brought to your table by the staff.
All in all Ferns is a wonderful place to dine, Its menu is wide and diverse and a perfect place for a family meal. read more
