Two weeks later nothing. Nadda. I pinged her. Nothing. Nadda. Two days later I pinged her again. She responded, asking if I was still interested in moving ahead. (Pretty irritating, after her promising 18 days earlier to send a proposal but so it goes). She wrote: "I have preliminary notes for a proposal and am happy to finalize it if you are proceeding." I responded that day, saying that I was moving ahead with the transactions we discussed one way or another, and that "Yes, I would love to get a proposal." Two weeks later, still no proposal. 4 days later, I pinged her again, asking if she was "sick or something...anything." It had now been well over a month since she had promised a proposal. Finally, she responds with, "Unfortunately, I'm afraid that my current workload will not allow me to work with you in the timeframe you need for a successful transaction." What a complete waste of time. This delayed me moving ahead on several fronts by six weeks. What a completely inconsiderate way to treat a prospective client...to treat anyone. If she didn't want me as a client tell me that six weeks ago. If she didn't have time to take on a client don't agree to meet me for a consultation. Ugh.

But when we used them to facilitate the closing of our Lake Lure home, it seemed to all fall apart. Every aspect of the transaction was poor to say the least. I believe it all stems from a lack of communication on their part. I was handed off to several acolytes in the process and had to constantly reach out to each one to get a response. On the day before the closing I initiated contact once more with an assistant to learn from her that I was not needed, in person, to be present at the signing. Then the day of the signing I called again to confirm this and the responsible assistant was out to lunch from 11 to 2:30 when I finally received an return call stating that I was to be present in 10 minutes or the lawyer was not going to complete the transaction. We rushed down to his office and never got to see the settlement statement until after we arrived. The big surprise was that the prequoted price of $450 for his services had increased to $650. After complaining he reluctantly agreed to rebate $200 of his fee. I honestly feel this was too much considering the lack of attention we received. We were extremely disappointed in the service we didn't receive.
