Also has small but pretty clean restrooms, straight in the Short trip from Fredricksburg, and if you're from south of Kerrville, it's a fun stop on your way in or out. It's funny hearing people say when we mention it too. They'll say "There's a Gibson's that's still open?!" I love being able to say yes, there's one in Kerrville, and it's definitely worth the trip.

So, going across the street to Hime Depot hoping to get what I need I found Theresa working in paints . She had a customer and still acknowledged me with a greet and that she would be right with me . I patiently waited and she got to me quickly. She walked me over to an alternative paint that actually worked better for my project. She explained the quality and matched my paint perfectly. She helped two other people without dropping any service expectations I had . Absolutely hands down the best experience in a hardware store . She offered store incentives I didn't know about and made sure I had everything I needed . She was enthusiastic, she knew her product and listened to me. I popped into Biedermann's…read moreAce Hardware to take care of some key business--literally--and walked out with a freshly cut key *AND* some delicious popcorn. Double win! But wait, the plot thickens. Once I got home, I thought my key ring of all the other keys had pulled a disappearing act. Cue panic. I searched high, low, and everywhere in between (read: the depths of my car seats). Meanwhile, the entire Ace squad was on their walkie talkies, mobilizing like a key-finding SWAT team. Not once did anyone make me feel like a bother--no side-eye, no sighs, just pure helpfulness. Turns out, the keys were just playing hide-and-seek in the car. Crisis averted! The store itself? Clean, welcoming, and packed with EVERYTHING. Need a bird feeder? Check. How about a candle that smells like heaven? They've got it. Wind chimes to add a little ~zen~ to your backyard? You bet. I originally went to Tractor Supply since their website had tent stakes, low and behold they didn't have any at all. One of employees recommended I check out Ace. The last time I shopped and saw a Lowe's grocery store is when I lived in Lubbock, it was nice seeing one again. As I walked closer towards the hardware portion, I was immediately greeted by employee, James. He had a big grin on his smile and guided me to the stakes. He was personable as well as helpful. He made small talk with me as showed me the different stakes. I opted for the Peg stakes instead since they were longer. They were only $8 and when I got back to Blanco State Park j mounted my tent properly and securely as the winds were strong during the day into the night.

I proudly pulled out my identification for verification and she said, "Thank you for your service, sir!" So I was under the impression that this establishment honored veterans. As the cashier rang up my goods this morning, I pulled out my identification and told her I was a veteran, and she began to ring it up and stopped. She then told me that was tomorrow. I said, "Tomorrow... what do you mean?!" She looked at me as she leaned forward and mumbled, "They only give to discount on Thursday's." WOW! Was the only reply I gave. If she has to mumble the policy to people, then it is obvious that employees are ashamed of the company's policy. I'm a proud veteran of these United States and the great state of Texas 24 / 7. So I will take my business elsewhere! Greed should never surpass patriotism in this country... EVER.
