I love this country seashore store. They have some very nice glassware, art, jewelry, clothing, and seasonal items. They also have a great large collection of beachy outdoor buoys, starfish, signs and crab pots. Collections of upper end purses, Irish items, Vera Bradley. The staff are really friendly, efficient, & helpful. They have these great homemade cheeses. Different varieties and a seasonal one. They sell out quickly in offseason but so worth buying and trying!!! Love to go browsing and find some beautiful unique gifts and beach decorations. read more

Used to love the store and visited every summer. Went there today and the man at the counter who I assume is the owner was incredibly rude! Noticed that the store feels very empty as far as merchandise and there are a lot of things that are clearance/final sale/no returns. I asked him if they were shutting down. He got very defensive. Told me it must be because I was looking for something I could not find--what was it I couldn't find?? I said nothing, the store just used to have more and it looks very sparse. When I asked him again if they were closing (because he never actually answered me the first time), he told me it was very rude and offensive for me to ask. Keep in mind, there were no other customers around so I don't get the ire. Just say no and move on. I left without visiting the second building. Good luck! read more

I have been here several times prior with my family, but this is my first review of this hideaway retail store. The store is set back from Route 54. I have been here with my family, who always enjoy shopping here for unique items. They offer a very nice high quality wide selection of nautical and other related merchandise including apparel, footwear, puzzles, games, toys, etc. The store has two levels. We usually buy something when we visit. My family agreed we will continue to return here. read more

I read the reviews prior to purchasing and was frustrated by everyone's focus on their lack of a bathroom instead of quality of their items and shopping experience. That said, I just received an item I ordered online and was shipped to southern CA. The item was very carefully and thoughtfully packed and padded to prevent breakage. The price was more than reasonable and I am very happy with my purchase. I appreciate the excellent service and communication. I would definitely order from them again. read more

Geez there are some awful comments on here and all seem to be pretty personal and I don't agree with them at all. LOVE this place. I've always found the most original things in here and my favorite piece of wall art in my house was bought here. Yes, if you are looking for cheap sunsunsation type crap then you won't be happy here but I've always been very happy and everyone else I know has as well. Always a good store to find just about anything you need or did not think you needed. However, don't take your 80 year old mother-in-law with a walker especially if she needs to use the bathroom. There are two port a pots in the gravel parting lot that is very challenging for those with mobility issues. Not very ADA compliant. read more

Sure the gifts are nice but a million dollar business like this that does not provide a rest room for customers is unsatisfactory. Therefore, one can assume that Float-ors is more concerned about making a buck than providing comfort for their customers. After spending several hundred dollars here, we asked to use the rest room prior to our long drive home. I am new to the area and have been completely decorating my new home. I was excited to find the variety of merchandise at this store. Bought many items on several trips. Yesterday, I went to return approx. $35 worth of merchandise. I HAD the receipt! The original tags were still on the items. They are still selling the items in their current inventory. The manager/owner, Jason, refused to return the items because it was JUST beyond the 30 days! I explained COVID had delayed my decorator by a few days. He didn't care! I explained I try to limit my travel to the beach areas due to COVID. He didn't care! I explained that a store credit would be fine as I was there to search for many items that my decorator suggested for my new home. He still refused! The customers behind me in line were appalled as well and followed me to the parking lot to tell me so. I went back in and attempted to reason with him. He just stood there stone faced and said that's the policy. I asked if he realized it made NO SENSE to refuse a $35 store credit for a purchase of what easily could have amounted to $100s??!!?? He seemed to think that it did make sense and was good business practice. I told him the other customers followed me out and were shocked. He didn't care! Won't EVER shop there again. Passing this info along. So sad because I really did like this store's merchandise. read more

Very disappointed with how unfriendly and unhelpful the owner was to me. I received a gift with a gift receipt and when I went to exchange the gift I was told I could not as I was past the 30 days. I just received the gift (outside the 30 day window) and explained the situation. All I wanted to do was exchange and the items I had he admitted were still on their shelves. It seems illogical to run a family owned business this way. I will not be visiting them again. read more

I have shopped at Floaters since they first opened in 1994. I have bought lots of things over the years for my home, gifts, clothes, etc. There have been a lot of changes over the years - I always enjoyed a shopping trip there. A great store to take visiting friends. I placed an online order on May 13th - it was delivered on May 17th. I chose to return the items - they had the wrong receipt in my package so I thought I would return in person on my next trip to the beach. I went today, June 19th. I was told I could not return or get a store credit because 30 days had passed. I got it on the 17th so we are talking 2 days. My items were in perfect condition- still wrapped in the tissue paper they arrived in. I explained that I returned in person because The invoice in the box was not the correct one. He told me I could of gone online and found the correct one. Very disappointed..... I love the store but I will never shop there again. read more

A very large selection of very nice souvenirs, paintings, home decorations, candles. Higher end and pricey, but worth it for unique gifts and keepsakes. A second building I quickly looked inside had bags and beach gear, clothing, etc. Again, pricey, but I saw a nice selection of flip flops and sandles, not the usual plastic junk every other block in every beach vacation town. read more

A. This place is way overly packed for the uninspiring merchandise they sell. My first comment, when I walked in, was "Is this hell?" B. We had a cheap plastic thermos that my girlfriend got as a gift and wanted to return. They refused to do it because it was after thirty days; policy. It's not like we, or most people come down to the beach often, the least they could do is work with us. They were not willing to work with us; they just care about volume. They just said they'll review their policies in the fall. The family just had a policy review and banned this place. I'd strongly recommend going somewhere else. I would give this store no stars if I could, this store has changed so much!! I was given a gift from this store and when I wanted to exchange it (and pay towards another item) I was told "no way"! I left the item on the counter and told the manager, this store is pathetic!!! Go elsewhere!! You can buy any of the items they carry on Amazon (which accepts returns or exchanges!) I recently visited Fenwick Float-ors as a curious first- timer, very ANXIOUS to see this fabulous place so many people had told me about over the years. As a small business owner, I admire and enjoy patronising home grown stores. I knew about fifteen minutes into my visit, I was SADLY mistaken. I asked a gentleman at the front register two questions about his merchandise, and he acted as though he couldn't be bothered, even rolling his eyes at me. I later found out from a staff member, he was the OWNER. The stuff was very eclectic and different, but also EXTREMELY over priced. As I descended the stairs to check out the fashion and accessory section, I was greeted by a lovely older woman,whom went out of her way to help me. Just as I was feeling better about this place, said owner from downstairs,that I already was completely turned off by, came barging in, interrupted her helping me, and started barking orders at her. I was prepared to spend at LEAST several hundred dollars as I was thinking of things for Christmas, and the selection was very nice. That being said, I put it all back, and headed back downstairs to take one more quick look. I needed some greeting cards, so I picked a couple up. The next thing that happened was DEPLORABLE. A woman in training was at the register with this awful man, and apparently she was very nervous,and overwhelmed. He then proceeded to humiliate and mock her in front of customers, as tears streamed down her cheeks, he mumbled at her and laughed at her. NO store is worth that, that not only devalues their staff, but treats their customers, who keep them in business, as un welcomed guests. You sir, are an egotistical BULLY, that has the people skills of a goat, and should be ASHAMED of yourself. Thinking that in this economy, with SOOO much competition that you can treat staff and customers this way is DEPLORABLE!!! Very disappointed in the customer service here. Was rudely approached by the man who works there and asked to leave because I had my service dog with me. He then asked me what kind of device dog was he and service dogs don't "look like that" as well as I'd be responsible for any damages done to the store. What damages? Yes this place has a high price tag on most items but you get what you pay for! I live in New England and this store fits right in to what you would find in Newport. The customized signs and buoys are great gift ideas and are ready in 24 hours. The staff was very helpful as well. I can't remember the last time I saw someone carry your bags out to the car without having to ask, but it happens here. It was a pleasent to see a young man walk around the cash register and take the bags out to the woman's care without even asked...this takes costumer service to the next level these days! I really used to love Float-ors... but then they started selling less Vera Bradley and stopped selling my "I like it Hot" Lolita glasses as well. I went to Float-ors for those two things, and they stopped carrying almost both of them. Of course, they still have some Vera items but not the items I would typically buy. I still stop in to see if I can find something really off the wall and unique but I have just become a little disappointed over the years. read more

We usually love to browse the stores whenever we're in town. This specific trip I decided to try on one of the outfits from their Lily Pulitzer collection. The man working in this upstairs section basically stood right outside of the fitting room door as there was an entire second floor of people that he could've been talking to or checking in on. They have custom vintage looking signs (i.e. Welcome to the McKenzie's Beach House, decorative Buoy's that you can customize, etc), Mariposa, Lily Pulitzer clothing, Vineyard Vines, art work, Tervis tumblers, fudge, Annalee dolls, the most ridiculous variety of Vera Bradley items, gifts for kids and baby, Adirondack chairs in any color imaginable, and the widest selection of general beach themed decorations. Their customer service is impeccable- bring your bags out to your car, free gift wrap, gift suggestions, etc. The place is not inexpensive, but if you are looking for that perfect gift to say "thank you for letting me crash at your beach house for the weekend," this is the place to go. BUYER BEWARE!!!! I have been shopping here for over 15 years. Recently I went in and purcahsed two lamps. When I got home and pugged the lamps in the shades were yellow and not white like the floor display. I immediately went back the next day to make a complaint and I was told that I could not exchange them because I had taken the plastic off the shades. So they were willing to take them back if the plastic was on and resale them to another customer even though they were defective. When the shades were plugged in they were a yellowish tint like someone had been smoking in my house for years. No one in my household smokes...I was further insulated by the person asking me if I was sure it was not my light bulbs. Really? I purchased the same lamps from Kendall's in Fenwick and these lamps were just fine. I also emailed them over ten days ago with my complaint and have not heard a word back. I WILL NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN AND IT IS MY MISSION TO MAKE SURE ALL OF MY FRIENDS DO NOT SHOP HERE EITHER!!!!!! If you need a great place to shop for furniture, pictures etc. try Kendall's. I discovered this store several seasons ago. It is a charming collection of various designers as well as beach themed items. It is nicer than the average tourist souvenir shop. That being said..... I visited this shop twice within three days, spending several hundred dollars on the first day, while leaving with absolutely nothing on the second day. Why? Here is why... The staff I dealt with directly was pleasant and helpful. However, there was man on the upper level that followed us around. On the first day, I naively assumed he was working and I just happen to be wherever he needed to be, arranging stock. On the second visit, it was far less subtle as he was blatantly following people to different rooms. At one point he was standing watching what was going on in one space. As my husband entered another room, he followed him there. A few moments after, he straddled the entry way watching both rooms. As my husband returned, so did he. What is that? If this store has a theft problem, they either need to hire more associates, get a security camera or simply sell their stuff on line. With this kind of shadowing, theft will become the least of their problems. We are talking Vera Bradley here... Not Gucci, which by the way has a whole lot less shadowing security. Disgusting. Want to feel like a suspect? This is the shop for you. read more
