I've been coming to this barbershop for a year already, almost on a weekly basis. They give some of…read morethe best haircuts I've gotten in Miami, but all of that was thrown out the window today when some of the main barbers were having some pretty crazy homophobic and transphobic conversations with their clients and amongst each other. I've seen many queer men come here including myself, so it's just unbelievable that the same people who you give money to for a service are so uneducated and disrespectful towards another minority just like them. I don't believe in "cancel" culture, nor do I think this barbershop is that relevant to create some public movement against them, but I truly feel like it is not a safe space for queer people or a respectable place for any ally or simply educated people.

I found County of Fade when I was in West Hialeah and needed to get nice before meeting some friends for dinner. I called, and Drum the Barber said to come on by. He asked about how to fine tune the hair cut as far as sideburns and the back, and even how I wanted the goatee trimmed. They also have a cool spray system to not leave hair fuzz on your shirt as well as spray cologne. The shop itself was really clean, has a good stereo system as well as TV's to catch sports (although that didn't matter to me since neither the Dolphins nor Heat are playing yet). My barber, Carli, did a great job - everything to specification, he went above and beyond and I had him fix up my beard too, which came out flawless. I have been going here the past few years after my last barbershop got too expensive. A clean-up will cost you about $15, with a normal haircut is $20, $25 for cut and beard, so the prices are definitely fair. The shop itself is on the smaller side, you don't always like waiting in the seating area so close to barbers dusting hair off clients. The good thing is you never have to wait long, if at all when you make an appointment, which is highly recommended even if they do take walk-ins. The only downside to this shop is that they do not take credit card, and for me, someone that doesn't like carrying cash, it can be a little annoying at times having to make a stop at the bank first. Overall, the barbershop is great with really good barbers, and I would recommend it to anyone for any style of hair you might be looking for!

Located in the same plaza as my usual lunch place and dry cleaners, I had passed by FadeShop more than a few times and decided to give them a try. Johnatan was my first barber at FadeShop a month ago, and was able to style me nicely with just "cut my hair short but not looking like I'm in the Army." He even gave me a full shave. This past Saturday was my second visit and I went for a full fade. I didn't catch the other barber's name but my hair looks clean and well presented. The salon is well lit, and modern looking. There are a few TV's around, plus the classic barbershop talk vibe - politics, sports, etc, etc. Some self-care products are also on sale.

I could not communicate with him because he only spoke Spanish. So another barber had to translate telling him what I wanted. No judgment and I get he is new and has to perfect his craft. I would say my hair cut, on a scale of excellent, mediocre and needs improvement, I would say mediocre. Like I said, he seems like he's just getting started and he definitely needs some improvement. I am sure if he sticks with it and if the other more experienced barbers in the shop mentor him he will get better.
