Well, this place didn't disappoint. They brought me a large ICE COLD beer, just the way I like it. Then I had the kebab platter; pretty standard, but still good. They gave a good portion of fresh mixed salad with cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, and lettuce, tossed with a little bit of olive oil dressing. It was a perfect side to the fresh, hot French fries and sliced kebab meat! It's a really laid back place, a local neighborhood restaurant, more locals than tourists. And the prices are very reasonable. Normally when I go to a local place, I'll speak German, but I guess the Kurds working here heard my foreign accent and saw I wasn't a local (I guess that's obvious) so they spoke English back to me. Anyway, the service was excellent and friendly, the beer was cold, and the food was prepared hot and fresh. It doesn't get any better than that!

Then I told the host it was my first time ever at a Vapiano, and was unclear on what to do. He explained to me that I can go to any of the stations, whether it was pizza, pasta, dessert, or the bar. You go to the stations and order what you like, and then swipe your card. At the end of the meal, you present your card to the host, and you'll pay right there. So basically it's like a self-serve buffet, except you get fresh-made pizza and pasta cooked right there in just a few minutes. The pizzas was pretty good, Italian-style with a thin crust and a couple of toppings of your choice. The pastas were also pretty good; I had the spaghetti bolognese myself just to see how it was. The reason being is because I compare all spaghetti bolognese to the one I make myself at home. Not meaning to sound arrogant here, but I think my spaghetti sauce beats most restaurants anywhere, and as bold as it sounds, I would take the Pepsi Challenge against any of them, anytime! But I digress... I had a couple of glasses of red wine; the first one was a table wine, and the second was a brand from South Africa, also pretty good. I was already satisfied at the end of the meal, so I had no room for dessert. Overall, a terrific experience, and great food! Buon Appetito!

Like the concept of ordereing on the counter, receiving a buzzer that tells you when your pizza is ready. Its relaxed but modern athmosphere, nice interior with the wooden tables, just agreat place to go if you want a really tasty and thin crust pizza or fresh salad ;)
