When we mentioned to someone that our conveyancing solicitor was Hugh Feeney they remarked "Huge Fee, eh"? We had already mentioned to the solicitor that our property was slightly different in terms of how it was mortgaged as it was a cornish unit. He failed to remember this and it was clear he hadn't read the documentation sent to him. When our mortgage was delayed due to the solicitors error, I had to ring him up and point out the points on documentation he had missed! While I didn't find the fee's ridiculous, what I did find outrageous is that the solicitor had not done his job properly. He tried to make out that our mortgage broker was at fault when clearly it was his mistake. That annoyed me more than anything else, trying to blame his error on someone else who had done a sterling job. Feeney & Co was recommended to me by my mother in law who found them charming. After that incident, the house sale went smoothly but I lost trust and respect as a result of trying to blame the incident on someone who had been really helpful. read more

From my and alot of my clients experiences of Feeny & Co solicitors that review is not accurate and i wouldn't bother yourself reading it. Hugh Feeny has had over 500 clients a year for aprox 15 years and this is the only bad review he has ever received. I have myself used him for 10 years and have never once been let down by his services, in fact I've always been highly impressed by his costumer care and his ability to always know the right thing to do! His fees are extremely reasonable for such a fantastic service, and are alot cheaper than alot of other firms who frankly do not give half as good a service as Mr Feeny. I would recommend Feeny & Co solicitors to anyone that asked me above any other firm, (and trust me I've used alot in my time) and Mr Feeny always does his job properly. read more

In contrast to the first reviewer...I recently had a very positive experience with Hugh Feeny and his team. I recently returned from New Zealand and wanted to purchase a particular property in Bristol. There were unusual circumstances and a 'need for speed'! Hugh was recommended to me by Martin Haigh, Estate Agent and I was MORE than satisfied with the customer service I received. This was my 14th conveyancing and was by far the easiest! As well as their expertise, there is strong communication and good teamwork in Hugh's office. They made me feel cared for, even though I was a pretty 'small customer'. Everything was completed in a most timely and efficient manner. Feeny and Co. have fairly recently become part of the Bevans Bray Walker group. I applaud their management style as the smaller solicitor team of Feeny and Co. seems to have been allowed to keep their initiative and individual style intact. At the same time they have been integrated with other elements into the larger effectiveness of a citywide group. Our estate agent recommended Hugh Feeny, part of Bevans Bray Walker. As our last solicitor was atrocious, we thought we'd give him a go. We'd only been with Hugh for a couple of weeks when our mortgage lender decided to appoint their own solicitor without notifying us (although we did not have to pay) so we then had two solicitors. This seemed to be a huge upset for Hugh as he then had to photocopy all of the work he had done so far and send it to the other solicitor. From that point on, Hugh did nothing but complain and moan. Any delays in the proceedings were all blamed on the other solicitor. It took both my partner and I, numerous phone calls every day to both solicitors to get them to talk to each other and pass on the relevant paperwork. We were informed that Exchange of Contracts was imminent and our Completion date was 5 weeks later. However, Exchange never took place and we lost all confidence in Hugh. Both solicitors were blaming each other for the delays and we found ourselves unsure who to believe. On the day of Completion we discovered that Hugh had forgotten to transfer the Local Searches fee to the other solicitor (all £290!!!), something they had asked for 4 weeks previously. Therefore no Exchange had taken place, no monies transferred and no Completion. We were effectively homeless. By the skin of our teeth and millions of phone calls, we exchanged and completed at 16:30 on the Friday just before the banks closed. It was the most stressful day of our lives. We sent complaints to our mortgage lenders solicitor, who Hugh blamed the entire time, and they responded in great depth explaining how Hugh had failed to communicate with them, pass on relevant documents and blatantly ignored them throughout the entire process. Hugh came across as rude and arrogant. Any questions we asked were dismissed or fobbed off. If we hadn't been on the case, calling up, every hour sometimes, we firmly believe the house sale would have fallen through and we would have been in breach of contract through no fault of our own...and homeless! He spent the entire time moaning about our mortgage lender and blaming all mistakes on them when in the end, all delays and faults lay entirely with him. We do not recommend Hugh Feeny & Co and his terrible behaviour throughout means we also do not recommend Bevans Bray Walker. Definitely find another firm to trust your house purchase with. read more
