I booked an appointment with Aaron. I only had one tattoo prior so I forgot what the process involved. You can't get tattooed drunk here that's for sure. Mine took a couple hours and since it was longer than expected, it was more than the quoted price but still super reasonable. It's permanent so I'm not really trying to be cheap here. The final product is awesome and not only do I get lots of compliments on it, I like it. It's kinda loud so be prepared for Eminem blasting while you're getting your work done. It is a tattoo shop after all.

My husband and I had a spur of the moment idea to get these matching tattoos of on our first wedding anniversary, ending up here as a walk-in. Just because I was meeting a friend doesn't mean I didn't scope the place out. LOCATION: Just off fair oaks Blvd and su choose to the road if you turn in the parking lot you've turned in to a parking spot right in front of the building. DECOR: There was drawings and paintings and ask that tattoo shop stuff to fill the walls. Under all that were red walls with black trim and the floor was white and maybe with black on it, but it was bright. The rooms were big and the side was more open. The piercing room was straight ahead through the front door. PIERCING/TATTOO: My friend has gotten an ear piercing in the cartilage of her left ear from another shop 2 weeks prior and said the guy messed it up pretty bad so she came to get her other 3 holes that she wanted as well. She has gotten her nose pierced here some years back and said it went great. She said her new 3 holes but less than the on the other guy fun the other place messed up on. PRICE: $90 for all 3 left cartilage piercings together. EXPERIENCE: I walk in straight to the piercing window and see my friend already talking to Don Juan (not making this name up) about her holes and prior experience. He took all her information and took us Back to the room. Don Juan had us place the hole markings exactly where we wanted and even made expert suggestions on what type of ear rings to use and the placement of the holes. The piercings came out great.

This was my first tattoo and my experience could not have been better. My brother referred me to Fat Cat because he loved the artwork they have always done for him. Everyone was really nice to me as soon as I walked in. I was obviously very nervous, but the artist was really understanding and did his best to distract me. And the lady that was taking care of paperwork, was also trying to ease me into it. Definitely will be returning here. (Also disregard my vulgar picture, it's the only one i have without the wrap on.)

I want in to get my ears and septum pierced. Unfortunately they are uneven, and they got infected really quickly. He was unable to put a correct ball on the end of the septum piercing so I had to go somewhere else to get a correct one that would stay put. Because every time I tried to come back he was unavailable. My ears ended up being a big problem and he had to repierce I believe two holes and now that I'm watching them heal, I can see along my lobes, that they are not even on either side. I would probably suggest going somewhere that does piercing on a regular basis rather than the side business of a tattoo shop. Especially if you need follow up or after care checks.

Came in as a walk-in after work a few weeks ago, not expecting to be seen but most likely needing an appointment. I wanted a small Virgo symbol on my finger next to my ring finger to represent my recently deceased grandmother, and it my sign as well. I was very happy and surprised when I was able to be taken care of on the spot. He was very nice and even touched up my heart tattoo that I already had. Though the minimum was $80 and I only got two small things I enjoyed the experience and the fact that I was seen as a walk in so I tipped $20. Despite all that, I am very disappointed in how it turned out. And that's the reason for my rating. The lines are fairly jagged and inconsistent, and it's not thick enough. I 14 tattoos so I'm fairly aware of aftercare. And while I have really thin fingers other artists didn't have issues with my other fingers. Maybe I got unlucky. I don't see myself returning unfortunately.

I went here to get matching tattoos with my mom for my birthday. It was a little pricey for tattoos that were only about 1 square inch. Nick did an amazing job! I only regret that he didn't do my moms as well. Her tattoo turned out terrible! Looks like it was done by a 5 year old that got a hold of a tattoo gun. Yikes! Well maybe that's a little dramatic. You be the judge, I will post a picture. My moms tattoo also got infected :( I hope that maybe Nick can fix it. That's our best hope. Only 3 stars for quality control. Otherwise they were very nice.

I was looking for somewhere to get a tattoo to match my sisters. I came across Fat Cat Tattoo and was happy that they accept walk in's. My sister printed out the template and we drove over to Fat Cat. We were greeted by Jacob who asked questions to find out more about what I wanted. When the template printing had lines that were too think, he redrew the design for me and made sure it was going to look good. He got the sizing to how I wanted it and I got started with the paperwork. Jacob was awesome and made sure I was happy with my tattoo. It wasn't anything crazy or intricate, so it was pretty quick. There are design ideas all over the shop. He did say they were all merging to one of the other shops so that one won't be open eventually. However, I'd still recommend Fat Cat at their other location. It was a pretty chill place and visit and I left happy. Will go back for my next tattoo. read more

* UPDATED** Z and Sydney were fantastic. Friendly, professional and excellent work done. Z pierced my lip and tongue, Sidney did my outer conch. The owner of the shop would do well to be more discriminate over who they allow to represent them at their front counter, though. The CSR the first time I went in needlessly insulted the friend I'd come in with. He may have been let go since then because someone new was working the counter (skinny, strawberry blond girl) last time I received service. She saw fit to make a rather rude "joke" about me, quite needlessly, in front of my piercer and his boss, who I assume is an owner. I came in again Oct 10, for a downsize on my tongue piercing and she was still working there. Turned around and walked out because of her continued presence behind the counter. When the CSR's are chasing paying customers away with their worthless opinions of them, it's time to reconsider what you're looking for in such a rep and possibly reevaluate your hiring (and firing) practices. So great artisans, abysmal customer service reps. I'd have given 5 stars if not for the audacious arrogance of the nasty counter girl still working there. *After reading a subsequent positive review, I went in yesterday (Nov 21) for a vibe check and another downsize on my tongue piercing and jewelry change of my outer conch. Sydney offered myself and a friend I'd brought in excellent service, for which she was given a generous tip from each of us. The nasty CSR made no appearance. On the assumption that the employee I took issue with is no longer working there, I've updated my review to give 5 stars. I will continue to update my review accordingly as I continue to do business at Fat Cat Tattoo. **Nov 23 I had an industrial piercing done by Sydney today. I brought my kiddo in as they are interested in getting their lobes done and wanted to be there so I could squeeze their hand during a doubly painful piercing and they could gain a little knowledge over the process. Everybody there was pleasant and professional...if it keeps going this way, I'll be back for more services alongside bringing family and friends who are happy to part with their cold hard cash for beautiful body art from a respectful, reputable staff of artisans. read more

Wasn't pleased when I asked to have a tattoo, a very small three letter tattoo, with a much bigger tattoo. The guy there said he would not cover another tattoo PERIOD!!! Went here to get my triples and conch pierced and was greeted by the FANTASTIC Kitty Gomez. She is so warm, knowledgeable, and professional. She made me feel comfortable and the piercings were over so quickly. Some of the least painful I've ever gotten, and I know it's because she's so experienced and talented in her craft. It's always busy in the main tattoo parlor, but the staff greets you immediately and is always welcoming. read more

I love that the staff is always fairly chill however I was looking to discuss a pretty important piece over the phone asking as many questions as I could because it's on the neck and I don't want it to be jacked! I wanted a tattoo artist that was confident and who would work with me on it but just from that phone call I was turned off the man I talked to over the phone was very dismissive, nonchalant and kind of a jack ass which I didn't appreciate but other than that the other tattoos I've gotten and interactions with other staff have always been very positive! read more

Terrible service, walked in and was not greeted. Instead the guy in the back just stood there and stared until I said something. I just went in to buy plugs for my ears and asked where their jewelry display case was and the guy told me the piercer wasn't in and I would have to come back later and he couldn't even give me a time when that would be even though I didn't need a piercing I just needed jewelry. Only tattoo shop I've been to around the Sacramento area that does not have jewelry out on display to just walk in and buy when you need it like other places. read more

It's an alright tattoo shop. One of my tattoos I wasn't very satisfied with. I pretty much was told how I would be getting my tattoo cover up, after requesting a dark shaded gothic black rose. I received an old school design of a rose that looks sort of prison style. Not a big fan of prison style tattoos, gothic style tattoos are my preference. Three stars for receiving numbing cream. Other than that it was ok. read more

Went for my friend's nose piercing today. The piercer's name was James I think. We politely asked for him to wear a mask. He said sure but laughed and said "but it won't do anything according to my nurse friends." Our third friend we were with is a registered nurse, so we were over it and decided to leave. James replies "fine whatever" with an attitude. I thanked him for his sensitivity and understanding. I also noticed he didn't wash his hands in between clients. read more

Hey there! I went today to get a piercing and was a bit anxious about the process. But once inside, I felt comfortable with the interactions that were to lead to an actual piercing; for many, this would not be much of an event but for me it was a lot. The guy that did the piercing, Jonnie, was super communicative of the process and all instructions on how to maintain a great recovery process. But what I most appreciate most is the open invitation to information with the giving of his card. On a professional level, I am a service dog trainer that has a consistent clientele, the services are paid for when I work on a dog but the open invitation to communicate information based on a working relationship is invaluable-especially one that is knowledgeable. I will not say that I will be back for another piercing, BUT tattoos are another conversation here since I am covered in them. Thank you at Fat Cat Tattoos & Body Piercing, please get that man a raise for his skill set, not based on this review. read more

Update- Didn't have a migraine for months, and when they came back, they were much milder. My earring came out at the beginning of quarantine :( but now that I'm vaxxed I'm going back in and getting both ears done. read more

My sister came to get a tattoo here yesterday and I got a new piercing on a whim. This was my first time getting anything done here. I love my new conch piercing and the process was painless and my sisters tattoo looks great. The staff was very friendly and the location was very clean. Only reason I'm giving a 4 not a 5 is because when I was done with my piercing, I didn't get too much info for after care. Due to the fact that I already have a couple studs in and an industrial piercing, my piercer said to use dial and take care of it "like I did the others." Now reading online, I found that it would have been better to be pierced with a stud instead of a hoop to help heal faster. Not sure if this is correct but talking a bit more before would have helped me figure out what was best. I'm sure it will be fine as the guy seemed to be experienced but only time will tell. The whole process was fast and simple but I would have appreciated a bit more instruction and guidance. Still an overall great experience and would recommend to a friend for both tattoos and piercings. read more

I just had this tattoo done by Jason. He did a terrific job! He was warm and friendly and made me feel at ease right away! As for the quality of his work it was suburb he was fast and very steady.. and on side note was extremely honest I accidentally gave him too large of a tip he caught my error let me know of my mistake and corrected it! This is only place I'll go to for tattoos! Aaron always goes above and beyond to give me exactly what I'm looking for. He has a really soft hand and super clean lines. 16/17 tattoos on my body he has done! This place is the only place I recommend to my friends and family to get quality ink! The rest of the staff are really friendly. I also got my nose and belly pierced here and it was a really clean environment and he made me feel comfortable because I was a bit anxious. Love the vibe of the shop. I've only had experience with Terry so my recommendation is based on just him. He did a cover up on my chest a few years ago. He had a great idea on how to cover. It turned out amazing. At one point I started to pass out from the pain. He sensed it before I even said anything. and quickly grabbed a glass of water and put a wet rag on my forehead before I even had a chance to pass out. Today he did some work on a friend of mine. Friend left very satisfied and going back for more as am I. Terry does fantastic work and has great prices read more

This place is scary. I got a couple tattoos here around 2000. The artist was nice and he made the experience comfortable. Unfortunately the result was subpar at best. I wish I had went to the shop that was much further away and a bit more pricey. Live and learn, you get what you pay for. I went in recently (last week) to see if I could find some jewelry for a piercing I was getting done elsewhere. The piercing guy was nice and helped me out. When I walked in no one was at the front. No one even acknowledged me. A guy with no shirt on who appeared to be fucked up didn't even look up from whatever he was doing. There were multiple people in the shop (artists and "customers" I suppose) yet no one was getting a tattoo or piercing or seemed to be preparing to. I would never in a million years get another tattoo or piercing here. There's better options around. read more

This review is LONG over due. Heard about this place through some family, let me tell you Dose is amazing. An absolutely incredible, talented artist. Clean lines, helpful suggestions, understands what the client needs, and is overall very good at what he does. Came in and got my first tattoo done by him back in November 2015, then couldn't wait to go in and get my forearm piece done about 7 months later. I get an insane amount of compliments on my tattoos, everyone always asks where I got them done and I rave about fat cat tattoo on fair oaks and tell them to ask for dose! I could go on forever, chill team, all extremely talented, good pricing, clean shop, but my props go to dose. Highly recommend. Look forward to getting another piece done by him soon! read more

took my two friends there. one for a tongue piercing and he had the needle thing in her tongue for over 30 seconds trying to get the ball off the regular piercing, he couldn't get it off and then proceeded to ask me to touch the jewelry and get the ball off. I had to sanitize it after. Two days after she's been in unbearable pain because of it, we went to poke and dotz tattoo today and she got it taken out. My second friend got a nose piercing and it was fine until two days after, it fell out while she was sleeping and the guy said she had to let it heal and he'll re-pierce it. She asked if she still had to pay the whole 50 since it fell out while she was sleeping, and he laughed at her saying duh because she lost it and not him. i called poke and dotz and they said they would just charge her 10 for new jewelry. Very unprofessional. Don't go here. read more

My husband and I recently decided upon a tattoo design for our wedding ring fingers. We knew we wanted to get this work done in Carmichael. We were driving back from a friend's house in Granite Bay and decide to call this shop to see if they could squeeze us in. We called at 9pm and it took us 12 minutes to arrive there. We both got our tattoos and arrived home by 10 pm. The artist was super cool and friendly, the receptionist was also super friendly and I am super happy that we made it in to this shop. read more

Since it was Christmas Eve night, I couldn't get ahold of anyone (understandably), so we decided to just try our luck the next day. The shop is located off San Juan and Madison, which can be a busy area, but there's parking right out front... huge win. When we walked in, we were greeted by their apprentice, Sophia, who was incredibly sweet and welcoming. We explained what we wanted and hoped we could get it done that day. Our original idea was to place the tattoo on the palm area, but Sophia was very transparent about how ink usually doesn't hold well there. She suggested an alternative placement that still worked perfectly with our vision. After discussing the price, we decided to go for it. Luckily, she had availability right then and there. She was so patient, making every tweak and edit we asked for without hesitation or attitude Absolute gem. While she was designing, we hung out up front and got some unexpected puppy therapy! their sweet pit bull wandered over and decided my friend was her chosen human. She jumped right into her lap and chilled, which was especially adorable since my friend is normally scared of big dogs. Instant icebreaker. The entire vibe of the shop was warm, friendly, and chill. The owner even came out and chatted with us for a bit, which just added to the good energy. Once we finalized the design, Sophia got to work. She had a gentle hand, and each tattoo only took about 20 minutes. We walked out beyond happy. the tattoos came out perfect, and the experience was even better. Eli Rushing was my artist, and he took me as a walk-in. I came in wanting to get my newborn son's footprints tattooed on each side of my Tree of Life. We bounced around a few ideas and landed on a design I was really excited about. Eli absolutely nailed it. We had great conversation throughout the session, and once it was done, I was genuinely blown away by the finished piece. On a whim, I also asked if he'd be willing to touch up some faded Hawaiian islands I have on my other arm, and he didn't hesitate. He was happy to do it, which I really appreciated. The pricing was very fair, and I tipped well because I felt he absolutely deserved it. That was fully my choice, just based on the quality of the work and the overall experience. I arrived to my session 15 minutes late (different artist) However, the tattoo artist did not pull me back until 45 minutes after my initial arrival time. The sketch he showed me the day before ended up being the final draft, when he put the stencil on me and of course I did not like it, I vocalized it, as I sat in the chair, thinking we'd have a conversation about changes... he began to reprimanded me like I was a child!!! I have six tattoos, I have never been more offended, walking into a place to work with a person. It's like he was trying to get a rise out of me (not who I am, sir) When I tried to approach it maturely (asking open-ended questionsand for clarity), he continued to make it inappropriate and uncomfortable (in front of others and attempting to adding colleagues to the discussion) using the excuse of "this is permanent, then I have a family to feed, and last you seem unsure" as his way out of doing the tattoo as opposed to just telling me he didn't wanna work with me. I felt embarrassed, vulnerable, rejected, and dismissed by this man... I have never cried at a tattoo parlor previously, and I will never be back to this one. He said that he was trying not to make my experience worse!!!!! While making it the worst experience I have ever had... he was culturally inappropriate, passive aggressive, and he was clearly offended by my dislike of the sketching he was using as a final draft to put on my arm. Even when I showed him another version of something that I wanted, he made a big deal out of it and then started talking about time. What an inconsiderate human... I even tried to leave him the deposit I put down for my tattoo because of his need to feed his family. Fortunately, they gave it back to me. This is my truth it is valid ... the end... how many black people do you see in the photos (many???) and when you are the owner asking people to be on your side of course they will they work with you dude. It was a little a little difficult to make an appointment since there is no website posted and it's appointment only. I tried calling for a little over a week and no one would answer the phone and finally a lady answered. I check to see if they had any same day appointments, but they didn't and she said she had to send me a link to book an appointment. The link sends you to book an appointment in which you pick the piercing service you want for each service you must put down a partial non refundable deposit for the time you book ad they are reserving that time slot just for you based on the service (s) you need. This place must be a popular place to go to for piercings because they were 2 weeks out for that next available appointment. I arrived a little early in case I needed to fill out and liability paperwork. I waited a few minutes before being greeted. The lady came out the back about 10 mins into my appointment time. I wanted to go over the jewelry I wanted instead of the surgical stainless steel jewelry. They have 14K jewelry and titanium and I forgot the other metal. I originally 14k jewelry but they only had yellow gold and I preferred white gold, but they didn't have it for the piercings I was getting. The piercings I got was the spider bite, Monroe and tongue. The jewelry I went with is Titanium jewelry instead. They gave me a nice discount for the amount of piercings and jewelry pieces I got. They are a little higher than other places that do piercings, but I'd leather pay for quality over quantity. The gentleman who did my piercings I forgot his name, but he was very patient with me with the area I wanted pierce. Allowed me to take my time with the positioning on the piercings until I was satisfied. He went through the process with my and recommended products to use to prevent infections and proper healing. I was told to come back in a week to make sure my piercings are healing nicely no extra charge for that and to downsize the jewelry if needed. I highly recommend coming here if you want a clean quality place to get your piercings. I will definitely be back if I decide to get more piercings.

So apparently there was a fight at one of your parlors and two young men were battling it out but when the fight got a little bit too much and his cousins tried to break it up the owner said no let them fight it out and stopped them from pulling them apart. When one of them was getting beaten and it was egged on and also FILMED by one of your managers at one of your parlors that was just ridiculous and incomprehensible!!! He is the adult and one of the kids was 19 there are young men old enough but still kids if you know what I mean, and if you have a 19-year-old you know what I'm saying! To let them beat each other up and one get really hurt was totally irresponsible of whoever was at the store at the time, he also filmed it, what what's up with that? I just get so angry!! You know some people can actually die from being beaten in the head and the manager is egging it on and cheering it on! This was just plain stupid and wrong! I recently got a tattoo at Fat Cat and had a really awesome experience. I was tattooed by Chuck, an artist there that specializes in traditional styles. I had seen his work before, but wasn't exactly sure about what I wanted before I spoke with him. He helped me decide on a beautiful traditional piece, three red roses on my upper back. It seems like a really simple piece, but he put a lot of work into designing it so it would look great on me, and even tweaked the final design the day of. I've only had one tattoo before, and I wasn't really sure about the whole process but Chuck was super sweet the whole time, chatting with m e the whole session and being really patient when I flinched. I'm really happy with the outcome, and the whole experience overall. I've already recommended him to my friends, and I really encourage others to check him out. I am not a kid, I care about the artist and skill that I am getting. When I met the people at Fat Cat Tatoos, I wasn't sure an 'old man' would fit into their business. I had been to a few other shops and was put off by the overall snotty greeting I recieved. At Fat Cat, I was greeted with a smile and was welcomed. This is NOT a shop that will appeal to the yupie or thrill seeker. This is a real tatoo shop with real artists. If you want a tracer then go to another shop. But, if you want a unique and edgy tat, just look at the books of all the artists there. The music may not be of your generation, but that's not why I continue to go to Shannon, at Fat Cat. I chose Nick to do my tattoo and I cannot say enough great things about him! He was very patient (this was my first tattoo) and did everything he could to make sure I knew everything to expect.
