Had a great experience here as a special outing for my teenager who has some developmental disabilities. The cafe staff did an excellent job setting expectations and we had a wonderful time with the cats! We like Tally Cat Cafe as well, but I would absolutely recommend Fat Cat Cafe, as the environment is much less overstimulating, you feel less "on display," and the price point is better. read more

A great local cat adoption cafe! I decided to visit recently thanks to a special deal they were running (coffee and hour of cat time for $10!) and loved the opportunity to finally be around cats again! I grew up with cats, but now have two non-cat friendly dogs, so it's been a long time since I've had quality cat time. So my fiance lovingly scheduled an afternoon at Fat Cat and it was a fun experience for me. There were kittens running around everywhere in the cat room and one even claimed me as his own, hopping up in my lap and promptly taking a nap. With so many toys out, it was a lot of fun to have them chasing the feathers around and pouncing. I had forgotten how rambunctious little kitties can be! The only thing I'd say on the cafe side of things is that it's pretty minimal and barely a "cafe". Seriously, it's just a hot pot for tea or a keurig for coffee. I know there is very little space out front to put in a full coffee bar, but it felt a bit deceptive to have it called a "cafe". But it seemed like most people were coming in to play with and adopt the cats, so it doesn't seem to be much of a problem for their regular customers. So, overall, a fun experience to play with the cats, but I'll probably have my coffee at home or at Lucky Goat down the road before coming in. read more

These are good people who make sure every cat is loved and cared for. They try to find them forever homes. Their adoption fee pays for vetting and inoculations. I wish I could adopt all, but we travel. read more

We went on Sunday for a mothers day breakfast. The kids meals cam out 20 minutes apart. After an hour we enquired where my wife and my breakfast was. They advised there was an error in the kitchen and it would be out in 15 minutes. After 30 minutes we asked again and was told it will be out in 2 minutes. After another 15 minutes it was not ready. Despite many customers that arrive 45 minutes after us had their meals. After I went to the cashier I again said what is going on and she was very unhelpful and said I don't know. This is without the worst experience I have had in any establishment. With the food they did bring out the kids didn't eat it as it tasted as bad as it looked. The only thing that I can say they did well was to provide me with the bill for the trash they dished up (at least that did not take almost 2 hours). Wonderful rescue in Tallahassee, we visited because I desperately missed my feline companions that I left at home while on a weekend trip. It's strange not hearing purrs and tiny feet on the hardwood at night when you are so used to it. There is a small fee to enter, but you money goes right back into the rescue. It's more of a donation, you can get coffee tea and some pre packaged snacks. Check out there website for special events like movies with kitties yoga with kitties, really everything is better with kitties. You can adopt any of these kitties your visiting or you can just relax with them enjoy some coffee and get some work done with free WiFi. Great place great idea check them out! read more

I took my mom to the Fat Cat Cafe as a surprise when she was visiting me. Upon arrival in the parking lot, we noticed a kitten running around inside the cafe (how cute!!). When you first walk in there is a small room with snacks and k-cups for coffee. The prices are decent for the coffee and although you have to pay a fee to see all the cats, it's going towards their potential adoption. There were about 15 cats in the play area and there is no limit to how long you can cuddle, pet, pick up, or just chill with them. My mom was in heaven (so was I). All of the cats are ready to adopt and have bios on the wall. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. I ended up buying a cute FSU cat shirt, too! The cat cafe is perfect for kids or adults. read more

The Fat Cat Cafe was a genius idea. I am a huge lover of kitties, so to learn of a cafe where I can sit and give attention to 15+/- cats waiting for their next furever home, is just a fantastic idea of a great time. I have been to Fat Cat Cafe several times now. The owner, Melissa, has always been extremely friendly, as has her staff. Sarah, one of the staff members, is by far the sweetest and most caring person, especially when it comes to cats. Fat Cat Cafe has a variety of "Cat" merchandise when you walk in the front. Everything from sparkly t-shirts to handbags to jewelry and keychains. There are several beverage options to purchase, including Keurig cup coffee, and it is only $7 per hour to play with the kitties. The inside of the "cafe" is very wide open with a high ceiling and full of beautiful and sweet felines available for adoption. These babies are given a second, second chance by being removed from the animal shelter and placed in Fat Cat Cafe until they are adopted. I brought family and friends here as we all wanted to check out a Cat cafe after hearing how popular they are in other places. Recently our home has become "cat less" and I was really missing having a feline to pet and play with. I think my expectations were too lofty in the "cafe" department I was actually hoping there might have been a menu and table service. We were disappointed in that arena. On the positive side, there were cats and our fee for visiting for 30 minutes went to a good cause. We were happy to see another family adopting a cat but wish there were more kitties in the day we visited. read more

Fat cat cafe was great! As with most cats you will have the shy guys, the sleepy heads, and the rambunctious playful ones. I loved spending time giving belly rubs and neck scratches to these friendly kitties. There was also free WiFi (just ask for the password). It is $7 for one hour, and if you are a cat lover like myself you will notice that the time flies by! The cats come from a local animal shelter and can be adopted if someone hasn't done so already. Keurig coffee is also available for about $2. All in all, I loved it and will definitely return again! read more

We really loved Tallahassee's cat cafe! The space is large and welcoming. There are many cats, and they kept popping out of all of their various hiding places. I've been to about 5 or 6 cat cafes around the world, and these are by far the friendliest kitties I've seen. Several are good lap cats, all of them like to play, and there was much purring. We had a really nice visit and $7 plus $2 for tea is more than a reasonable amount to pay to help shelter and find these kitties a home. read more

This place is adorable if you love cats! When you walk in there are various works of cat related art everywhere by local artists and the proceeds go toward caring for them. It's $7 for an hour to spend with the cats and they have a selection of drinks from coffee to bottled drinks. After you sign on the dotted line they take you to the back room where the cats are. There are lots of toys for interacting with the cats and high up places for them to enjoy. This was my first time going to a cat cafe and I really loved my experience! Definitely recommended if you're looking to adopt or even if you can't and just want to spend time with kitties! Many of them are friendly and accept being picked up, especially the younger ones. I found this by using Siri to find a good place to get key lime pie. Didn't find any there, but my girlfriend and I did find a really amazing and charming cafe. The coffee was keurig, so nothing special, but it had a relaxing atmosphere and fantastic jazz music. The draw is the cats. They were friendly and fun and there were plenty to pet and spend time with. My sole complaint was that the pricing wasn't posted up front. I knew I was buying a coffee and water, but the charge on my card seemed too high. I think you are charged for spending time with cats or something, but it wasn't posted and wasn't clear. That was a disappointment as I would have had no problem paying more up front, it was just a surprise. All around, if you love cats, go here. read more
