Popped by there it saved us time going farther to Brownsville and even better we were able to pickup a pound of pulled pork, with sauce, margarine, and canned spinach to make a decent semblance of dinner given crazy stormy weather that is typical of spring in the area. Saw also some homemade cookies on the counter as well but we were set with desserts. Pulled pork was $15 for the pound, rest totaled to $22 incl tax. Nice option if you need to pickup things at the end of the day before 7 p.m.

I later learned that it's a Shell gas station IGA grocery store hybrid. It looks very unassuming from the outside, but it's almost bordering on a gourmet grocery (or gourmet for the area). I visited mostly for the restrooms, which they don't have many of (only two stalls), but it's fine. Walking around, they have aisles of groceries -- almost everything you could need. They also have a frozen section, a "beer cave," lots of snacks for the road, coffee and other stuff. There's also a chicken restaurant inside, with lots of tables to sit and eat there. The store was clean and very organized, and it was a pleasant experience to visit.

The store has gone from a handy one-stop for bait, tackle, ice, and convenience groceries to your basic convenience store. Trust me, walk the aisles a few times and you will see things you missed on the first pass. The bakery goods are always great. I truly miss the "not fried" pies and that were there. There was always a great variety, and next to that would be full sized pies and cakes that were equally enjoyable. I am not normally a sandwich lover, but the freshly made sandwiches are a requirement for when I fly back home. The homemade soups/chili are very, very good. Oh wait! ice cream, yes... you must try the ice cream especially during the summer months! Wonderful memories of a wonderful store!
