Mixed experiences. I have purchased 3 cars from these guys, two of them being ok, one had a leak in…read morethe boot and the other is fine. The last car I purchased from them, and it will be the last I had a problem. I purchased a car from them and it developed a fault on the way home. I took it back to them to have a look at, they tested it and confirmed there was a fault. They had the car from me for a week or so and said that they could not fix it and will need to send it to the main dealer garage to fix. I agreed and let them take the car to the main dealer garage. After weeks and weeks of not hearing anything I called asking about the car, they told us that the car was unrepairable and that they would need to buy the car back from me. I had got the car for a good price so I was a little gutted. I decided to call the main dealer to find out more. It turns out that the car was fixed and was working fine and that A1 Motors had it back. The way the staff handled the situation, not offering a courtesy car until we asked, and even then was told we had to collect the car (we were not local) and then when we finally picked the car up it was an old car that looked like it was falling apart. They even told us that they still owned the car and that I had to give the car back for them, as they had all the work done to it, even though the logbook was in our name by then and they had our money. They were also very pushy trying to tell a warranty service before even buying the car. To make matters worse, when we finally agreed to sell the car back to them, a few days later the car appeared on the A1 Carriages site as well as Auto Trader. Simply the way we was treated and how deceiving they were makes me now want to avoid this place, even if they do tempt you in with cheap cars.

My visit to A1 Crayford confirmed my preconceptions about private used car businesses rude,…read moreunprofessional, dishonest and overpriced. Upon entering their car lot, stepping over the hosepipe being used by a man to wash the cars, I walked past another man wearing an ill fitting suit and smoking, thinking he was a customer. After unsuccessfully finding a salesperson I went to the office and was asked what I wanted by the man in the suit. I explained I'd phoned them earlier in the week and was told to bring my car to them for a part exchange valuation as they couldn't give me a price without seeing the car. The man was uninterested, and told me to have a look around the yard to find a suitable car. After looking at the outsides of the locked, dirty vehicles on offer, I went back to the office to ask about a valuation of my car. Rather than being invited to sit down, I was made to stand outside the office door and answer questions about my car to two men standing inside with their arms folded. After what felt like an interrogation, and having no one actually look at the car, I was offered a price less than Webuyanycar.com for a dirty, overpriced replacement. and promptly left. After that I went to a Ford main dealer and received the proper service I would expect.

I would avoid buying any car from LMC. So many issues & 8 months with an engine problem! Firstly…read morethe car was advertised with sat nav and car mats but this was not the case. I took the car to a main dealer who confirmed that the car has never been set up for sat nav, and the start up maps memory card would be needed, which cost me £500. After buying the car, and driving home, the tyre pressure warning came on, I pumped up the tyre but it kept loosing pressure. It went back to LMC but they were unable to find a problem. The issue continued so I had a local garage investigate, only to find that the wheel was cracked. I reported this to LMC who said they would not cover the cost for a new wheel. As I was unable to find a single wheel, I had to buy a new set at £800. A few days of owning the car the engine light came on. I informed LMC and returned the car for the fault found and fixed. But since then the car has been back countless times to "replace parts." 8 months on, the issue is not fixed and I've covered an additional 600 miles driving to and from LMC. After taking the car to a main dealer they reported that the same problem that LMC knew about 8 months ago is still a problem. A part needs to be replaced, a part that LMC had told me they had replaced. That part would cost £1,000. LMC are now not responding to any form of communication. It's disgusting to for a car dealer to lie from creating the advert, selling the car and through to after sales. We will see what the court says

After some haggling we get this up to £3000 and £200 to be knocked off of the price of the car as well. The £200 was NOT knocked off the price so they conned me there. When I went back and it turned out that I did not have the "Mercedes Pack" that came with the car 13 years ago, they tried to tell me that this would affect the value of the car buy £400-£500. I ignored them and took my new car away. A few days later my old car was advertised at £5500.00. So much for my car not being worth anything, to make matters worse, there is a problem with the sat nav, their professional customer service advice was to go home and read the book. I was also told that there was a year's AA cover, this only covers breakdowns over ¼ mile from your home but you can upgrade for a minimum of £5 per month (£60.00 per year). I pay £36 for home start and all the features they want to charge for. My advice avoid them, they come across as caring but are typical of the stereotype car salespeople.

I had to literally visit the garage 5 times to get this issue resolved. When I collected my car after repair - the rear bumper and body has BIG SCUFF AND DENTS. Ashburton service centre bluntly refused to repair this and said that "cars are always parked on the street after repair and they don't take responsibility for what happens to the car on the street". I quote their exact words "For every car that we repair and park on street, if we started fixing the dents caused while they were parked outside our garage, we would go out of business". I have complained to motorcodes - case ID is 20515. I will complain to VOSA for providing incorrect MOT just for selling the car and I'm in discussion with a solicitor to raise a case in small claims court. AVOID THEM - they sell bad quality cars, bad quality repairs and don't take responsibility for safety of cars in their possession.
