Don't believe their 'same-day shipping' and FedEx fast delivery. I placed a critical order to repair some broken pipes in my chicken op on a Wednesday, expecting it the next day - you know, like that big, famous supplier that has stuff from A to Z and is named for some river in South America... but it seems 'same-day' to FarmTek means in the same 24-hour period, so my order was sent Thursday for a Saturday delivery. Worked with them for weeks on a fabric-covered barn. They knew my address the whole time, but quoted me for vastly different wind and snow loads than my county requires. When it came time to make the deal, they miraculously fixed everything and bumped the price by about 15%. I wish I had read all the negative reviews *before* wasting my time with these guys. I would NOT recommend purchasing from farmtek/ clearspan They are like a big box store compared to ace hardware. you get more selection and pay less at a big box store compared to ace hardware where you pay a higher price but they stick with you and typically know what they are talking about. We purchased a 30x130 Greenhouse, complete nft system, complete Dutch bucket system, fertigation system for the nutrient delivery and prorogation stations from them. We decided between cropking and farmtek. if I could do it again I would have gone with cropking. farmtek had a great sales department with Jason but once you have made your purchase they have horrible follow through and do not stand behind their products. For example they sent half the glue to assemble the nft system when asked for the rest of the glue they wouldn't send it. That may sound trivial but this glue is $40 a bottle and you need 50-60 bottles of it! We asked for best practice for maintaining the nft system and Dutch bucket and was told they don't offer any support in that way due to liability issues. After speaking with them I don't believe that they have actual growing experience either but hydroponics is a niche so it's possible that they are knowledgeable in other areas and not hydroponics. We ordered the commercial grade coldframe. No where in the description in the catalog does it tell you it comes as components, not a kit, not an assembled coldframe; two boxes of components of metal to be cut, polycarbonate to cut and with incomplete instructions. Oh, and it arrives in an 18 wheel truck. No videos. No return calls for pleas of assistance. After building 3 homes we feel pretty handy and my husband had some engineering background. We also had tools. I would not recommend this for most people or small businesses. It IS sturdy. If it does not drive you or your employee to drink it should last for years. read more

Based off the info about replacement costs in the email, I purchased a 72x300' building. I had to put down 10% before they even showed me the warranty or gave anymore details about it. 10% replacement cost amortized over 15 years... if my building is 8 years old, my calculations should be around $7300 for all three covers not including shipping and install. They want to charge me $40k for just 2 out of the 3 covers. Total bill this year is over $80,000!!! The best part is they want 90% down before the come do the repairs! I only had to pay 10% to purchase and I've never made a late payment! This is how they treat customers. DO NOT BUY! read more

We were looking for an affordable alternative to a pole barn for our sawmilling business. A pole barn kit was comparable in price to their 40x60 engineered truss HD buildings. The building's construction cost an additional $9,000 to the purchase price of $12,000. We live in an area where heavy snow is common and expressed a lot of concern over the buildings ability to handle a snow load. The sales person guaranteed that the building was engineered to handle snow and the tarp would shed the snow off the top. We constructed the building in October and in December had 2 feet of snow. We noticed right away that the building was not shedding snow and the snow would cradle in the tarp between the perlins and not shed off the top. We consulted with the building and care manual for the building and it says "do not climb on structure" but also remove snow from building. We tried everything to remove the snow. Customer service suggested that we throw and rope over and rub the snow off!! We tried that method and it did nothing the building is too big and the mountain snow too heavy! The following morning the perlins began to fail and we quickly removed all equipment from under the structure. Hours later the building fell in a fury of twisted metal and shredded tarp luckily no one was hurt or killed!! I called customer service and asked about the warrenty and engineering snow load info of the building. I asked over and over agian about the buildings ability to handle snow prior to buying and felt VERY mislead by their salespersons. Like they would tell me whatever I wanted to hear just to make the sale. From my experience, these buildings shoukd NEVER be sold to areas with any chance of heavy snow! There is NO SAFE way to remove snow and it just sticks to the tarp. We used a 12 ft 1x3 to drum the side of the tarp trying to get the snow to knock off!! It stuck to it like crazy! She said she would pass it onto customer service. After a week waiting they said they would give me 25% off a new replacement! I told them I never wanted another Clearspan as they were NOT safe for my area. They totally misrepresented the product and their customer service is horrible. They don't care about the farmers they sell to. DO NOT BUY , GET A POLE BARN!! read more

i garden, and i support the local food pantry' s last year i filled 120 5 gallon grow bags with potting mix and a tomato plant. i had planted 10 yr old seed. apparently i stored it correctly. i was able to get the bags at a discounted price, and a few families got a fresh fruit - kinda rare from a pantry. the plants were heirloom variety's and cards with care instructions and how to save the seeds went with the plants.....this was from the dyersville ia. store there is a store with a similar name out east. read more
