My 3 year old daughter tried to count all the bears in the cabin, and she lost count. In addition to bears, the cabin is beautiful and has everything... fully equipped kitchen, BBQ grill, huge deck which looks out on pine forest, washer and dryer, internet, a big LED TV, books, games, toys, and a high chair and playpen for a toddler. The furniture is all very nice, and comfortable. The cabin is in a peaceful and friendly area. We spent the evenings on the deck, surrounded by pine trees, listening to the forest sounds, and watching the stars (no TV for us). The hospitality was so genuine that it made our vacation on Palomar Mountain one of our most memorable vacations ever. Bonnie, the Property Manager, was eager to help make the cabin a child friendly place for the paranoid parents (that's me) of a toddler who gleefully seeks out danger. On our last night there, Bonnie surprised us with a s'mores kit, complete with graham crackers, chocolate bars, marshmallows, and a burner. Our daughter loved it. Next time we visit Palomar Mountain, we wouldn't consider staying anyplace else.

So again, as a CA resident/consumer, I left an HONEST, negative review on Yelp and was retaliated against by the hotel. Updated to add: why are all management responses from someone named Andi C. now? What happened to Emma's responses? This just keeps getting stranger and stranger. Andi was not the manager we spoke to that day, but Emma. Bandy got my ResortPass account restricted after we complained about the service. ResortPass still gave us the refund for $235. According to CA law, as a consumer, we're allowed to leave an HONEST, negative, review without retaliation. We have documentation etc to back it up. This is from ResortPass " Regarding your account, after reviewing the circumstances of your visit with our hotel partner, we have made the decision to restrict future bookings on your account. Chuck and Nan greeted us and are terrific hosts and I'm sad I didn't get to spend a little more time with them. They have traveled the world and the cabin shows it. My boys and I belief that the deer and maybe even the wild turkeys are on Chuck and Nan 's payroll ....and they are cued to stand on the side as you drive in the neighborhood and are in the garden in the morning!!! The home feels like you've just walked into a custom newly decorated family environment. There were four adults and 3 children (over 18) sharing this beautiful getaway! With comfortable rooms, beds, bathrooms beautifully decorated and fully stocked for the Holidays. The deck extends the whole length of the house with an incredible view of Lake Cuyamaca! I live in a lovely home in Julian (2400 sq ft) with a view of the Cuyamacas. This 2500 sq ft house competes... with everything you could hope for when getting away in the mountains with every convenience and comfort on your getaway! It's often hard to please everyone in a group but absolutely every person LOVED this house. I sometimes prefer hotels over renting a home because I like the cleanliness and luxuriousness of a hotel, but this was MUCH better. The towels were extremely fluffy and soft, the beds were like sleeping on a cloud, and they even provided little amenity baskets in each bathroom. Everything was done to the service standards of a hotel but with a much more cozy, homelike feel. It was a perfect house for a group. The dining table is large and there is plenty of kitchen space. They have a lot of kitchen supplies, so pretty much anything you could need will be there. They also have a smart TV in the living room so you can log in to your Netflix/other streaming accounts and not have to worry about renting movies or bringing anything. The pool was absolutely amazing. The beach entry and waterfall made it feel like you were somewhere tropical. It really felt like a vacation sitting outside in this backyard. We will definitely be coming back to this house in the future! Don and Pat were such great hosts.

(1) the cabin is just beautiful inside and out. (2) They allowed us to have two large dogs without a insane fee and they even had a convenient spot in the master bedroom where the dogs could sleep. Its essentially a large walk-in closet and they even provided a child gate so the dogs could see us but not be tempted to roam the house or jump on the bed. (3) the bed in the master bedroom was soooooo incredibly comfortable and this meant a lot to us because we already have a really nice bed at home (4) Great location. No loud neighbors. The house is close to town and it does not require a crazy drive to get to. (5) The owners are super friendly. (6) great price for what you get. Seriously, we cannot wait to go back!

The cabin was nicer then I ever imagined. A beautiful A fame cottage nestled in the woods. The cabin itself has every amenity possible from the exquisite furniture, two bedroom two bath with Jacuzzi tubs and fully equipped granite counter top and sink kitchen. Just one mile from the town of Julian this great hideaway is close to hiking trails and is dog friendly. Jim and Julie are wonderful hosts and did everything to make our stay enjoyable.

My husband and I always stay at the Birch cabin and love all of the amenities, while still being out in the beauty of nature. Staff is kind and the grounds are well kept. Unfortunately, as of 2025, Bailey's has been closed and I'm not sure why but check quite often to see if there are any updates as it truly is a wonderful place. After having to cancel and postpone our wedding for years and looking at a ton of venues, we…read morefinally decided to have our wedding at Bailey's in June 2025! We signed the contract, paid the deposit and started planning. Communication was pretty terrible and it was impossible to get ahold of our contact. Months later in November 2024 I was scrolling on Instagram when I saw a post from Bailey's saying they are closing down. I panicked and call our contact at Baileys and of course they didn't respond to me for a while. When they did they told me that Baileys is temporarily closed and our wedding is probably cancelled. They refunded our deposit, but we had to cancel everything else and by that time it was too late to book anything else so we had to delay our wedding again. They said it might be open again soon but they've completely ghosted us since then. From what I've heard this place was owned by the Baileys family for over 100 years and was sold to a billionaire a few years ago so that he could host his family reunion for 2 weeks out of the year. Apparently it was shut down bc of some building code issues.
