I hadn't heard of Farmer's Fridge before I found them at O'Hare, but I loved the concept immediately. Fresh foods, nutritious salads and bowls, all from a 24/7 vending machine with no human contact? What a great idea for a place like an airport that desperately needs accessible and affordable healthy options. I initially wanted to get a salad, but we were running late for our flight and I figured the Napa chickpea wrap would be a bit easier to eat on the go. The sandwich was very good and better than most refrigerated wraps you find at the airport. I tried some of my husband's pineapple coconut chia pudding too, which I also liked. One of the best things about Farmer's Fridge being all over O'Hare is that it was great publicity for a service that I didn't realize existed in NYC as well (even if it's not available anywhere close to me, but hopefully that will change in the future). Also, they have an app that gives complete ingredient and allergen info and makes the entire transaction touchless, which is greatly appreciated in an airport setting.

Good, healthy sh*t. But actually though. I love the concept of a healthy vending machine. They have actual meal food like salads, bowls, wraps, oats, etc and I love that they have healthy veggie options. They have utensils next to the vending machine, so don't worry, you won't be eating your salad with your hands...unless that's your cup of tea. Then I won't judge. I got the Thai noodle bowl. It's essentially a cold Thai noodle salad. It's got a slight kick to it but I really love how they did the zucchini. The noodles are whole wheat which is dope. Most things in the fridge are under $10 from what I've noticed so it's a nice quick way to grab food in the airport

While at the St. Louis airport I was u sure what o wanted. The Framers Finge look ver good and convenient. I was not disappointed in the Southwest salad. It was delicious

So this was a pleasant surprise in the Chicago airport. I'll admit I was dubious- how fresh would it be? How overpriced? I'm delighted to say that the answers are "very" and "not very" respectively. I got the autumn salad with balsamic vinaigrette. They really pack the greens in there so that when you fluff them out into the available cardboard "boat" it is quite a sizable meal. The salad was less than ten dollars, which in airport bucks is a damn good deal. There is a place to return your used jar which I hope is recycled. Only down side is that the forks appear to not be recycled or compostable. They apparently have a frequent eater program but since this is the first time I've ever seen one of their dispensers, I doubt I will be able to make use of that program. Will definitely keep my eyes open when I travel though.

I am so surprised by the quality in a vending machine. The food at the airport is pretty bad. Lucky, I saw the reviews on yelp. I got the a salad from here which was delicious. It's a bit pricy but everything here is pricy. A decent option for healthy and fast .

I love Farmer's Fridge. When I'm tired and hungry at an airport, I really don't want to interact with people. This is the perfect way to obtain a good meal. Plus the colleague I was with raved about it. It's basically a salad vending machine. The salads come in mason jars, which is super cute. Still a little pricey for airport food. Plus it's really tough to mix the salad and dressing together. Fortunately I went the Admirals Lounge with my colleague and got plates there. Oh and some wine to go with our dinner. Can't imagine eating this on the plane. It was quite a bit of salad. I got the Greek salad which lived up to my expectations. I saved the chia seed pudding for the plane, which was a sweet treat to end a healthy meal. I'd definitely order from Farmer's Fridge again. These food vending machines are popular in San Francisco and can be addicting if you're a regular. I'm a fan!

While I'm not usually drawn to airport food or salad, the curious existence of Farmer's Fridge demanded a picture. And I thought about how years later I'll be telling someone about how O'Hare Airport has salad vending machines, and how a simple question of "how was it?" would create melancholy thoughts. This isn't a mid-century plastic chair or an iPod embedded at MoMa as examples of iconic design. To fully appreciate the salad vending machine, one must consume its wares. Yelp sentiment leaned toward the protein salad, which was unavailable. There were also recommendations for the Cheater, featuring turkey bacon. I ruled out the highly-rated Southwest for too much green and briefly contemplated the peach offering. But I decided the shrimp succotash would really raise the stakes, and Farmer's Fridge easily succeeded. Even if not judged by Midwestern airport vending machine standards, the shrimp was fresh and perfectly cooked. The corn and soybeans were capable supporting players. The only negative is the giant mound of generic lettuce, but this provides a venue for the exemplary yogurt basil dressing. Finally, the crunchy asparagus makes you wonder why it isn't a more common salad ingredient.

    So cool.

Rick Bayless has built himself a restaurant w/award winning restaurants like Frontera Grill & Topolobambo. The first time I got food from Tortas Frontera to take on the plane as it was a domestic flight that wasn't serving food so I thought I would grab a Cubaba Clasica & take it on the plane, BIG MISTAKE. This sandwich is meant to be eaten on the spot & not later When I went back the second time on 02/12/25 I ordered the same Cubana Clasica - Carnitas, smoked pork lion, bacon, jack cheese, chipotle mustard & pickled onions. This time I ate it before boarding the plane. It was delicious & meant to be eaten right away When ordering it's better eaten right away. I learned my lesson the hard way taking it on the plane instead of eating it right away. I am confident of that. If it weren't in a ticketed area, I would consider running out here occasionally just for a torta. Most of the time, we fly in the morning and find ourselves planning to arrive a little early to ensure we have time to enjoy a breakfast torta. The avocado, egg, and rajas is my go to, but the chorizo is excellent too. Definitely slather the torta with that green salsa/chimichurri that comes with it. Tons of flavor. Superior black coffee here too. They serve Dark Matter coffee, and they're brewing it perfectly. I used to run to the Intelligentsia over at Concourse C for coffee, but I realized a while ago that I dont need to. My torta was $14.30 this morning. You will spend that on a prepackaged tray of cheese and crackers at Hudson News and be sad all day. This place is still an excellent value. The service is always incredibly nice and efficient. If you have time, grab a table or seat at the bar. Just walk past the line for takeout and let them know at the bar that you want to dine in. Great guacamole with fresh chips too. Bonus that the little TV in the corner is always playing Rick Bayless' cooking show. His cadence is always so soothing.

Surprisingly the food for their corned beef deli is delicious in another way. Quality was good it's not as greasy or thick as Manny's corned beef which you'll have a food coma if you ate a whole corned beef or pastrami sandwich over there here the way they make their sandwich is similar to Jason's deli if anybody remembers Jason's deli. Jason's deli was not bad but it wasn't greasy if you're the type that likes greasy salty corned beef if it's done right like Manny's then that's what you should go otherwise if you don't like that feel this might not be a restaurant or cafeteria to eat at. The corned beef in regards to quality their Mile high corned beef was light and delicious it's fresh too just like Manny's but not greasy and heavy. I have seen this on Facebook as well and they're Italian versus being a kosher Jewish and they've been around too but not as old as Manny's since they've been around since 1960 whereas Manny's has been around since 1942 and is as old as my parents. Ambience was very casual and friendly it was my first time I had a dress to the cashier it's not really a cafeteria style but you can still sit down and eat I would most likely come back also because of the prices since Manny's tends to be expensive for their sandwiches. This was expensive too but then again I ordered a chili and a tiramisu I was going to get a potato salad just to find out they had soups. If you're around Franklin Park in like Mom and Pop delis this is another good option and don't want to drive to Chicago for Manny's and an alternative to Jason's deli in oakbrook or in Chicago surprise I did not know the other Jason's deli at the four stars. Being an Italian deli it's going to be a bit more limited to certain kosher dishes so don't expect to have knish or matzo ball soup but they will have chicken noodle soup.
