Black Sheep Medical - Dr. John Chewning

Black Sheep Medical

I have been a patient of Dr. Chewning's for years and I also see his PA, Tamika Robertson. I have…read morebeen so very pleased with the level of consideration and care I have received every visit. This is a staff of medical professionals who truly care about each patient. Not only do they take the time to listen to your needs, they are willing to work with you to determine the best plan of care, rather than just pushing you through a cookie-cutter system. Yes, you will occasionally experience longer wait times, but this is because they are taking their time with each patient. THIS IS THE LEVEL OF HEALTHCARE WE DESERVE, and I'm grateful someone is finally offering it, with grace and good humor, no less. As far as other reviewers who have complained about cost of followup visits for the Wellness Clinic, all I can say is that you get what you pay for. Black Sheep Medical is absolutely worth every penny.

The people that assist the nurse practitioners do not call you back, so if you need a prescription renewed you are s.o.l. The quality of care is below average unless you can get in to see the doctor, who you can't get an appointment with for months. Then if you happen to miss that appointment, they put you at the end of the que. I very strongly do not recommend this doctors office.

If you are not the first appointment in the morning your appointment time will be pushed back by an average 15 minutes every hour. She spends entirely too much time explaining simple blood test results. My wife has experienced 3 spinal cord surgeries and sitting longer than two hours results in severe pain. On September 14, she had a 12:30 pm appointment. We were placed in treatment room #2. Not any weight or blood pressure taken by the nurse. One hour and 15 minutes later, we had not seen another person and decided the ENTIRE practice lacked respect for our time. We informed the desk we were leaving. While exiting the front door, Amy the office manager approached us and said another patient had issues and the doctor got tied up with them. What were the other two licensed medial practitioners doing? Surely one of them could have spent five minutes to relate the blood test results. As we exited the door, the office manager accused us of not "having respect of others." Obviously this practice lacks regard for our time and effort to be on time for a scheduled appointment. The practice informs patients to keep the appointment to avoid a charge. If you enjoy sitting for hours waiting for the doctor to KEEP AN APPOINTMENT, this is your place. Enjoy YOUR wait.

I don't know if it is the doctor or his office staff but I was treated horribly. I came prepared with my medications and all. It's about 5 weeks since I was diagnosed and I was discharged from the hospital 3 weeks before I went to see this doctor. The hospital and health department states they don't give test after you get covid because it can be in your body for 3 months but after 14 days you don't spread it. There are after affects like sore throats a little congestion but I didn't have fever or the major problems when I walked into that office. Because I had a sore Throat the office staff refused to let me see the doctor because they felt it was a symptom. They didn't want the doctor to catch Covid. I've been to urgent care centers and I never had a problem being seen. I wanted a primary because I have other issues and I was hoping to get better care than a Ugent care center. If the hospital referred me and contacted them (case worker) I should of been seen. but since I had a sore throat the office staff did not let me see him because I wasn't tested in the hospital before my release like I said the hospital don't do test before releasing I do not recommend this office if he was so scared to see me then he shouldn't be a doctor perhaps a dancer instead I had a sore throat since I left i'ts way past 14 days I should have been seen for shame on the office

The PA/NP (not sure which one she is)never examined me, neither did Dr. O'Donnell when I saw her at a previous visit. This last visit I was charged $105 because I did not have health insurance. I had one prescription that needed to be renewed in September. Long story short first I was told I needed additional labs before she would renew my rx, I agreed. Now I am being told she will not renew it until I see her in Feb. Which will leave me two months short. All I asked for was a refill for one year, she refused. I couldn't refill is at the apppointment becauses it is only good for year. Would not recommend any one she her.
