It's not one of those pharmacies that you can buy illegal Cialis pills or other narcotics, but if you need aspirin from one too many cervezas to the dome (like I did) or a Band Aid from diving into beach sand and skinning your knee (something else I did), then it's a life saver. They also sell real Mexican Coke here in the mini bottles for a quick indulgence. From saving a bloodied knee to offering up my favorite soda ever, Plaza la Fiesta Farmacia gets two thumbs up.

During my visit, a man named Mike, wearing a Walmart name tag, approached us inside the store and offered what he claimed was an official Walmart promotion: * 6 round-trip ferry tickets to Isla Mujeres * A full-day golf cart rental * Lunch on the island * Hotel pickup All for USD $120, with a $30 deposit. He repeatedly assured us that he worked for Walmart, not any resort, and that it was NOT a timeshare sales pitch. However, later that night he messaged us saying the pickup would be changed to 8:00 AM so he could take us to another resort for breakfast -- something we never agreed to. When we insisted on sticking to the original 9:30 AM plan, he showed up the next morning and again pressured us to go to the resort to attend a 1.5-hour presentation, which was obviously a timeshare scheme. When we refused, he told us the trip was canceled and that our $30 deposit was being kept by his "boss." He then claimed we would have to return to Walmart to get it back. Before we could even discuss it further, he jumped onto a bus and disappeared. This was misrepresentation, dishonesty, and a clear scam -- all happening inside Walmart premises, by someone wearing a Walmart name badge. I am requesting: 1. Walmart Cancun to investigate how scammers are operating inside your store while appearing to be legitimate staff. 2. The resort involved to take responsibility for using deceptive tactics to lure tourists into timeshare presentations. 3. A refund of the $30 deposit that was taken under false pretenses. 4. Measures to ensure this does not happen to other visitors. Tourists should feel safe inside a well-known retailer like Walmart -- not targeted by scammers pretending to be staff. A tub of mango, pineapple, or watermelon was only two dollars each! They also had a lot of baked goods that looked yummy and a small food court. I also tried the flan, which was very delicious and not too sweet (which is how I like it). Overall, great grocery store! I would definitely recommend checking it out if you are in the area.

It's a regular supermarket, but I suspect that the locals don't shop here at all. The prices are pretty high, and much of the food isn't quite practical. This is a two story grocery store- not counting the parking. Be sure that you don't miss the top floor, where all the liquor and food hall is. Nom! Parking is on the bottom floor. They sell you validation at the cash register. Beware- the grocery bagger is looking for tips. My favorite part of the supermarket is all the cheap Mexican gifts they sell, with clearly marked prices. Actually, many of them are cheaper than the flea market down the way, because you don't have to haggle and deal with the cat calls from the clerks. Beware of the touts selling excursions and whatnot at the entrance. Just because they're in a supermarket doesn't mean they can't take advantage of gringos. This supermarket gets awfully busy in the afternoon. The aisles are narrow. It's best to come at an off time.

Getting prescription drugs without a prescription can be a very rewarding endeavor! Plus, the prices are so much cheaper here than in the states! This is one of the pharmacies we checked out that actually carried most of the selections we needed. Since my BF had extensive dental work at a specialty dental practice nearby, we needed to pick up some antibiotics: Amoxicillin and pain relief: Ibuprofen with caffeine. We also picked up some other medications for family members such as Midazolam, Retin-A, and Bimatoprost (AKA: Latisse). I was quite impressed at how easy it was to find all the various medications on our shopping list! And I was even more impressed at the money we saved!

None of their waters or beers were cold at all and it didn't seem like they'd been working in some time (it was really, really warm in the fridge). They also lacked some essentials (suntan lotion being one), but hey - I guess it's been a busy time over here. I'm sure they're on their A+ game usually (as the name suggests), but this time around they probably pulled off a C performance. Oh, and if you're wondering... the fake Twinkies were awesome.

We enjoy stopping by Costco when traveling just to see what may be different. Some of the more notable items were 5 gallon paint, mini split AC units, local cheeses just to name a few.
