Ok, so we were NOT disappointed with our choice to come here, after reading reviews…read more First of all, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR and try their homemade peanut butter, then buy some to take it home! The bison quesabirria tacos were amazing. The Triple C burger was outstanding! The Harvest Gimlet drink was superb! We wanted to eat more and more, but couldn't fit anything else in! I took an Oreo cupcake to go, and it was pretty tasty! We HIGHLY recommend this establishment!

More like 3.5 stars This used to be an amazing breakfast…read morespot They had the vibe , service and quality food Now we walked in without reservations for a later brunch, of course they had a little wait time but we bellied up to one of the bar areas as they had some seats open The service was pretty poor, nobody acknowledges you for ages , no water is given , your sitting near dirty glasses and plates , they are fully staffed but yet some are standing around doing nothing but nobody wants to help you t even make eye contact anymore Eventually we got menus and thank god the huevros racheros hasn't changed as it saved this review! Packed with flavor and large enough to share we ordered that and quickly paid our bill and left Not sure if the table service is any better than bar service these days but unless I'm in the area prob won't be eating here again

Stopped into Hi-Lo Diner while visiting Minneapolis because my girlfriend said it was her favorite…read morerestaurant and wow this place gets it. I ordered the Nashville Hot chicken and it was incredible. It was crispy, oversized, extremely hot, I was crying after eating it. My girlfriend got the eggs Benedict, which she loved, and I stole some of. The real star of this restaurant is the donuts and spicy cheese curds though. I would literally travel back to Minneapolis just for those. I think I dream about them in my sleep. The vibe is great inside, it's retro, but not in a try-hard way. Solid service as well they're just so sweet and local. Must try spot if you're visiting Minneapolis.

The veg was a very not cut correctly: chunks of green bell peppers and over chunky sliced onions that were not cooked through. Please stop being lazy and chop your veg and cook the onion . Green salad was hot Not impressed. And the Bloody Mary mix is sub par. However, the diner is cute and service is good. Second visit: had to sit at counter which is fine. They were busy. The bad: Bloody Mary's were flat and expensive $13 each. No depth of flavor, thought we would give them a second chance. . Ordered croquette madame. Egg was severely undercooked - the egg white was gelatatinous and the bread way too thick, ham fatty and subpar, where were you Béchamel? I took a bite of my breakfast and he hands me a box at the end when I asked for the check--not asking if anything is wrong. Two bites out of the spring mix salad and sandwich. Bloody Mary full. $70 for a salad, madame croquette, slow service which is no problem. It's a tiny diner and around lunch time. No worries there. But uncomfortable dining service because we could feel the tension between the server and bartender. Again for me? NBD but my daughter did not appreciate this. The good: the Mediterranean salad was delicious according to my daughter. She had the same thoughts about the Bloody Marys. Super cute beer backs- pony miller high life. I brought the croque madame home and my son loved it. Went on and on about how amazing it was. In all fairness my adult kids loved their food. He did microwave it to cook the egg through. Yes I know I am picky because I worked in the restaurant industry for over 22 years. And I can make better food at home. I just expect a bit more if I am going to drop $70 for two lunch entrees and two drinks. Not including the tip. Bottom line: I would not go back for this very expensive diner that doesn't know how to properly cook simple things. Or chop veg. Or make a drink.

Looks like there are daily specials/activities (see pic). When we walked in, we were greeted by the host who was our server and everyone's else server also, so clearly they seemed a bit short staffed as the poor gal was running around everywhere including pouring drinks at the bar. There is a jukebox and some claw machines to spend time on while you wait on your food so we did have an entertaining time perusing through the place. The food itself was ok, milkshakes were mid-ish (chocolate one was a bit too strong, never thought would ever say that in my life) also. The menu is fairly standard for a bar/restaurant. We did enjoy the cheese sticks as the breading on them was not standard/out of box and tasted really good so would recommend. It's a bar/hangout spot so unfortunately the bathrooms reflected that :( with being a bit dingy. With that being said, we are planning on revisiting on either trivia or bingo night soon and will update the review after that.

I ordered the fish and chips because it offered more fish and I could share with my daughter if she wanted some in addition to her kids meal. The fish sandwich was like $13 and the fish and chips was $16 then it was a $2 up charge for waffle fries. I asked for the bread that came with the fish and chips was not informed about the up charge about any item except the waffle fries. I get my bill and was charged $4 for the torpedo grilled roll. What the f!!! That is a charge that definitely needs mentioning. I was pissed and would have just ordered the fish sandwich because I spent more on the fish and chips with a d*** piece of bread. Livid. The food...my daughter had the kids meal chicken breast with oranges and some apple juice. Reasonable kids menu $8. The quantity of oranges was pretty small in comparison to how much they would have offered for fries I am sure. The seasoning was cool on it. Now my food. My my I should have taken a photo. The food took awhile to come out and only to come out and be old looking fish. It looked like fish that had been cooked and under a light for too long where it was too brown. Not golden brown but like a chocolate brown in some places. The fries were the same. Then again that $4 roll. Not a great food experience. I forgot the young man I had as services provided but he was pretty darn bubbly and he was shocked at the $4 fee too. He was stellar service. Oh and the young lady that hosted the trivia mania on Wednesday nights. Service was good so would consider again BUT D*** FRESH FOOD ON EVERYTHING.
