As a parent you are always nervous about changing routines for your children at the 3.5-4 year old age. We sat and spoke to the director, Kara and she couldn't have been any better putting my wife and I's nervousness/hesitation to rest. To this day I still talk to her and we plan on using the after school care program when my children start going to the public school in 9/2015. I appreciate people who don't handle me with kiddie gloves or sugarcoat things. If you ask Kara a question, she will be honest with you and that is all I ask. My kids were slightly younger than the other children in the Pre-K class but that program was absolutely perfect for them. At their previous daycare, they weren't being challenged and as a result they were acting out at home. Within 2 weeks of being there, my kids were able to write their name and started behaving better at home, something the previous place in Springfield wasn't teaching them. They were always learning something new and it was shocking how fast they were catching on to things. When my kids went there, the teachers for the Pre-K program were Ms. Alma & Ms. Ereen. They were fantastic. Another great thing about this place is that they make their own decisions with regards to snowstorms and "cold" weather. As Kara told me, they do their best to always open on time since they understand parents have to work. I sometimes didn't bring my kids to school when it snowed when every other entity closes but they were open. I learned that with the bigger centers like this one and the one my kids currently go to (My kids graduated from the Pre-K program and moved on) is that they are always open in the snow and makes it easier to manage "life" when bad weather hits. I would recommend this daycare, Pre-K to anyone looking for something new in the Centreville area or moving to the area. As I said we plan on going back there in the Fall for after school care.

I had my son (4) and daughter (2) enrolled here, and am…read moreimmediately taking them out due to the following: 1) September 2022: My son was left outside with another 4-year-old and the teachers were all unaware. I found him when I went to pick him up. They claimed they would be investigating the incident, but then never followed up. They never formally documented this via incident report for my signature. Had I not shown up when I did, I don't know if they would have informed me of this incident. 2) December 2022: My son was exposed to sexually inappropriate behavior from an older student enrolled at KinderCare. The staff apologized and said that they would "setup a program that talks about keeping hands to yourself". Again, this was never formally documented via incident report for my signature. Had my son not told me this happened, I would not have known. 3) December 2022: My daughter has a life-threatening food allergy to sesame, and I provided the center with epinephrine, Benedryl, and specific instructions provided by her allergist. On her last day, I asked to have these items back, to which they responded that there "must have been a loss of communication" because the items expired in October (it's now December) and thrown out. I was never notified, which means that my daughter has been attending school for 2+ months without access to life-saving medication. Not only is this absolutely negligent, THIS IS ILLEGAL (look up Elijah's Law in Virginia). To say that I am furious is an understatement, and I hope that NO ONE'S child ever suffers because their system for keeping medication properly stored is severely flawed. If you have children enrolled here that need access to medication, go ahead and ask them to show you where it's stored and see if it's accessible. It's likely that they threw it away and never told you, and your child is in danger. My top priority is always and WILL always be the safety of my children. The above incidents are not a result of "accidents" that happen due to watching toddlers. These are preventable safety issues that could be avoided if the staff here properly cared for these children. If your children aren't enrolled here and you're exploring options, look somewhere else.

Ellie usually walks through and waves to everyone like she owns the place. She's been learning so much from them too! She sings a ton of different songs and every day she comes home with something new to say or sing. We just had another baby and can't wait for him to start there too. We have been considering moving to a different county but this day care is what is holding us back for now. That's how much we adore this place! If you're on the fence about choosing a day care center, let me tell you, you won't be disappointed with Kiddie Academy of Centreville! Original 2016: We have been enrolled at Kiddie Academy for 3 months now. At first visit, we loved this place because the smaller classrooms and the video streaming capability. But the hours and the prices weren't comparable to the area. So we went with a different daycare initially. After a horrific ordeal with that other place, we decided as parents that we would make this decision for our infant, not because of money or convenience and I am so glad that we did. Somehow, we are able to make it work scheduling wise and it's about more expensive than other places but we were able to make that work too. The staff is absolutely amazing! The kids love their teachers, the parents love the staff and the communication I get from Kiddie Academy is more than I could have imagined. I get pictures and updates through the app and able to log on and see my kid anytime of the day. I can't believe there aren't ANY reviews out here for them because this place is amazing!

They were receptive to our complaint and immediately investigated and closely observed his interactions with a teacher over the next week or two. It checked all my boxes of being clean, diverse, and a learning environment but it also was organized. I appreciated that each room had a picture and description of each teacher including their background and how long they have worked there. I also loved that there was a dry erase board with information on next diaper and next bottle. As any new parents, we were nervous about the care anyone would provide that wasn't us. Now being at Chesterbrook for over 6 months with our son, I would absolutely recommend it to anyone! The cleanliness and organization continue to stand out, along with the teachers and principals kindness and love to not only our son but the other children there. They use an app called Links2Home and we get 4-6 pictures on average of our son throughout the day. Communication through the app with the teachers and principals have been quick and responsive to our requests. Recently we had asked them to switch the order in which he eats, bottles first then solids and they adapted within the next feeding time for our son. This past Friday they had a petting zoo and give us monthly finger paintings our son has done. While you'll not find all of the payment information in one place, you'll soon find that you're doling out a lot of money up front that will be returned to you under NO circumstances. First, you'll pay a "registration fee." Then, you'll pay "reserve tuition," which is equivalent to a full month's payment, for which you will receive NO services. And if you later decide to use a fewer number of days, this fee will NOT be reduced. THEN, also up front, you will pay 20-60% of the full year's tuition. Now, you may think that that payment is not an additional fee because the 20% supposedly covers the last two months of the 10-month school year. HOWEVER, in the fine print, there is the stipulation that these funds will be forfeited if the school determines that there are "behavioral" issues with your child. I have not met many behaviorally perfect 3-5 year old children! While I am not saying that this school will expel your child and keep your money on false pretenses, the payment policies are a perfect setup for that sort of thing to happen. It could happen that you pay over 70% of a full YEAR'S tuition (not a small amount, in my world) and forfeit it with very little service given. If you have that kind of money to spare, are confident that your child will have no "behavioral" problems, and feel that this school will be able to provide a competent educational experience for your child, then proceed with enrollment! Otherwise, caveat emptor! I have never encountered this sort of payment policy trap anywhere else, but I have learned the expensive lesson to watch for it in the future.

From the moment I called and spoke to Shelem she made me feel at ease about the whole process. She sent me an email with all the information for her daycare and was open to answer any questions or concerns. I decided to go on a Monday for a couple of hours with my little one so she could meet the kids and caretakers before having to be dropped for the day. From the moment we walked in my little one felt right at home. All the kids were active and engaged in different activities which she proves for them and my little one jumped right in. After about an hour I decided to leave for a little and come back to see how my little one would react and literally I came back 2 hours later and she was enjoying her hot served lunch with the rest of the kids. The next day dropping her was super easy, I was so glad that I found a loving place with all the activities that keeps the little ones engaged. I was grateful for the updates with pictures through the day showing all the fun and learning stuff they were working on. My little one was there for only 4 days and wish we could bring her daycare back to the west coast. Forever grateful for how well they treated my little one. Very organized daycare, very clean, good meals, plenty of interactive activities and learning opportunities. As a goodbye Shelem send us home with her art project which was done through the week.
