My review is just of the hot food bar.
Excellent choice for fresh and healthy food when in a pinch for time...Was shopping at Place D'Orleans nearby and didn't want to wait in line for foodcourt fast-food ... with the holiday crowd ... so I just sprung across the mall parking lot near the Scotia Bank entrance and simply walked over.
This Farmboy is clean and the service is quick.
From the entrance, the hot food bar is at the far-right of the store, at the "Kitchen" section. Self-serve, $1.99/100g, the takeout boxes are just underneath the bar, small and large boxes, with a great selection of hot and cold foods (ie salad...).
I got the rice pilaf (yellow rice, raisins, almond slivers), butter chicken, tofu yellow curry (made with coconut milk) with peas. All oh so delicious! Chicken is moist with the right kind of sauce (not the sour, tomato-y taste), the tofu curry is flavourful (surprisingly not dry being it sitting under a buffet lamp), and the rice was light and again, not dry!
Got away with eating a great meal for $6! (Once you're done with choosing your foods, you pay at the cash closer to the exit).
My partner got the same choices as I did, with the addition of the General Tao chicken, and he said that was tasty too....maybe a little more on the tough side, but still recommend.
While I was there, I did see staff adding to the cold and hot foods, so, I am sure the turnover time is fast.
There is an area for you to eat your food on-site as well.... past the cash, near the exit. read more
