This weekend was my first experience with FAQ Infoladen. Surprising, since it's basically in my neighborhood, and I'd previously never heard of it, or walked by the place.
We came here for the Kuchen mit Rock, which is a get-together with vegan desserts, music, and a special film. It's also a monthly mini-fundraiser for Ruby Tuesday, which is a rock camp for young girls to learn about women in music, as well as interact with female musicians in Berlin, and be encouraged in their own musical pursuits.
The space itself is unassuming but comfortable enough, with an array of funky couches and chairs and decorations spread about, along with a super warm wood stove.
In the back, there's a library with a plethora of resources, and from what I understand, FAQ is a place for people to meet and discuss ideas and scene politics. It's one of those "safe places" where interaction with other people and their ideas is both valued and encouraged. Not only does FAQ stand for the standard frequently asked questions, but more importantly, it stands for Feminist, Anti-Sexist, and Queer. read more
