Awesome people. They make everything easy. Dr Parker is great! It's always a good experience going there for my DOT physical.

When I first moved back from FL to PA almost 2 years ago I fell coming out of a rental house…read morebreaking three fingers on my left hand. I had a quality care at each touchpoint in the ED department from the front desk to the triage department, doctors, and nurses. 2 weeks ago my dog was startled and bit my index finger on the same hand. Everything was great. For some reason by 5am the next morning my hand and finger blew up. I had developed a lot of bacteria thus the pain and swelling. I was admitted, immediately put on IV antibiotics, and the next day the infection was cut out of finger. Does it look pretty no- but I am not going to die. On admission for 6 days getting 4 hour IV infusions three times a day and infectious disease would mix up the antibiotic. Everyone was professional, kind, caring, and did their very best. I could not have asked for a better experience from a hospital. I expected a wait time in the ER and I am not a needy patient. I try to do what I can for myself. Nurses and doctors work hard. Some of my room mates would have tested my last nerve with how demanding and rude they were. It was very clean and I left with almost no infection. I get my stitches next week. I would not hesitate to recommend Ephrata Hospital. For me it is small and you are not just a number. A+++

Nursing staff were all very good except when you could hear them complain about other patients and…read morestaff. I know, we all do it, but they could have been more discreet. Some were lazy...example: we let them know they were out of medium size gloves they thanked us but,'when they put the new box in, they put it right on top. It takes all but 5 seconds ( I know because I did it) to take out the small box put the medium box in the middle and put the small box of gloves on top. Now, I know it seems petty BUT if a worker thinks it doesn't matter....what else do they neglect in their duties....think about it. We had a single room but after a day there was another patient in the other room that would share a bathroom. Unfortunately, that other patient had uncontrollable BM....poop everywhere. We heard them "steam" clean the room...well, again they failed to check their work and left behind an unclean toilet. Something that really should have been taken care of better. One other thing. Had 2 Rx to fill upon discharge, when we got home I noticed one that was not in the bag but on our discharge papers, I called t/c Mark, he was apologetic and we had that item as a generic and could use that....again people check your work....employees in general don't seem to care anymore. It is a sad world we live in BUT, upper management needs to pay attention. I would love to volunteer and whip a chain or two into some of these workers. My grandson is going to school for nursing and I have a granddaughter that is a healthcare worker. Boy do I hear stories...I have to say SHAME SHAME on upper management. Watch the bucket list movie for some education....haha. Good luck! Hope lessons are learned and improvements happen, if not, things will ONLY get worse....PS....and we were only there for 2 days!!!
