I wanted to wait a while before leaving a review. I first visited this medspa in January 2025 to…read moreget treatments for mild acne scarring. Two years of consistent tretinoin and spironolactone use had finally cleared my adult hormonal acne. I only had some pinhole or ice pick scars that I wanted to improve. My first visit was pretty good. The receptionist ignored me upon arrival. It took the owner to come out and greet me and let me know to sign in on the small tablet for my appointment. We then went back and discussed my issues and took images. She noted that I don't have problem skin, just some mild dryness from daily tretinoin and that I should decrease to maybe every other night and she felt my scars could be improved. I'd booked for a package of 3 microneedling sessions, but she proposed RF microneedling OR Halo laser treatment to get me better results. After I struggled to decide, she advised we start with RF and maybe do Halo at a later time. That session was great. I had hardly any discomfort and I really liked how my skin looked when it healed. I could see some improvement. For my next visit a month later, I arrived and the spa was closed. They'd accidentally booked me for a Saturday that they were not open. I got rescheduled and for that visit I was fine to continue with RF microneedling. A few more sessions would probably give me the result I wanted. We started to set up and then Tamika suggested we try Halo this time. That's where things took a turn for the worse, unfortunately. We switched rooms and got started and that laser HURT. I immediately asked if we could switch back to RF but she encouraged me to continue and told me this is what I needed. She was super sweet during the process and even held my hands when she got to the cheek where my scars are deeper. Afterwards, she provided some aftercare products to use for the first week, including some thermal spray that as a god send those first few hours. I have to add that she comped that visit to make up for the mix up the previous weekend, which I really appreciate. During the heeling process, I noticed as my MENDS (the tiny dark scabs that look like coffee grinds) were falling away that I had some pimples underneath. I texted photos and asked if everything was ok and was assured it was normal. Over the next several weeks, the MENDS came off completely, but the acne only worsened. It was deep, inflamed cystic acne. I researched on my own and learned that acne can happen because your skin swells in response to the laser, blocking your pores, but that it should subside as your swelling goes down. On day 10, I used a q-tip to dab some salicylic acid gel (Paula's Choice) on the pimples and it stung. So I rinsed it off. Clearly my skin wasn't ready for any topicals. I reached out again for advice. This time I was out of town because my mom was sick. We agreed for me to come in when I got back so she could take a look. When I got back, I reached out and didn't hear back for a few days. My messages since have gone unanswered. Fast forward and I'm about 2 months out from Halo. My doctor prescribed a round of antibiotics to help with the acne since I couldn't use topicals for a while. That helped a bit, but never totally cleared the breakout. It was at least calm enough for me to resume wearing makeup. My skin can now tolerate topicals, so I've resumed tretinoin. I have a face full of cystic acne again. I hope this is just the retinol purge that happens when your skin is getting used to the rapid turn over again. So I went for acne scar treatment and am left with slightly reduced scars but a whole new crop of the deepest cystic acne I've had since college. I'm trying to heal it gently without causing any new scarring which would literally be the opposite of what I wanted. I will never undergo another laser treatment. If I try anything else it will be microneedling or maybe a chemical peel, but I need to research that further. My score reflects that Tamika is kind and I really enjoyed my first treatment. However, ghosting me when the laser treatment didn't go as planned is really not good business practice. I can't say she is at fault or misused the device. Maybe my skin just really didn't like the laser, but it would have been nice to get some sort of support or help. I had to go to my gp for the antibiotics and the dermatologist who writes my tretinoin script ordered me some hydroquinone to help with a bit of hyperpigmentation that I didn't have before. I think it will ultimately be ok and my skin will return to baseline but it has been a LONG and somewhat unsightly process.

Light snacks, like cranberries and nuts are provided along with hot tea options, and citrus flavored water. The space is very nice. There are locker rooms with plush spa robes and complementary slippers. The locker room has two steam showers if you want to wash yourself after your massage. They also provide hair products to try as well as a Dyson hair dryer. I was definitely very impressed with the luxurious feel of the spa, however, was turned off by the receptionist who checked me in - her robotic, transactional nature was starkly juxtaposed against the warmth of the spa. I noticed she was the same with all customers so it wasn't personal but interaction with her was unsettling. I booked the 60min signature hydrafacial and the esthetician was welcoming and willingly customized my facial based on my requests. No major issues encountered but I noticed we started 10 minutes late and ended 10 minutes early so I thought marketing it as a 60min experience was a bit misleading. Also note the 60min Signature Hydrafacial does not include any hand/neck massages nor boosters nor light therapy so the $285 price was much more expensive than my usual spa. I will not return for another facial but may try massage in the future. We also booked pedicures and again the space is beautiful!! We were given a palette to select colors and the ladies were extremely friendly! My toes came out adorable! I found the seating to be very uncomfortable for a short person despite many pillows placed behind me for support so I honestly struggled to enjoy the experience but the space was very nicely decorated and clean looking. We were offered tea and snacks at the beginning as well. Overall, this was a very nice spa. I found it fairly expensive and overpriced, but I recognize beautiful spaces have a cost and that's what I should've expected in the River Oaks area. There is complementary validated parking!

I believe she definitely knows skin care. Anytime my face decides to have a freakout she can determine the problem and address the issue. I have started a series if ResurFX (laser) under my eyes this week. Initially, red and puffy but subsided by days ended. On the first treatment she isn't extremely aggressive so that she can she how your skin will react. Mine did perfectly! Can not wait to finish my treatments and see the results. Note: my skin is not new to laser or potinant retinols. That being said, i know what to expect and know my skin will rejuvenate with great results. Going full throttle ahead with laser on anyone is not the best option and Rainey knows this and applies this professional knowledge in her treatments. I love giving her my business. They sell Elta MD sunscreens which i love. The one of the few that doesn't break me out. They also sell grande lash which i have seen a remarkable difference in my lashes only using a few times a week. The skin care products are skinsuticals... OK, my skin is not a fan of this line. Ofcourse like anything, skin care products are not a one size fits all. She knows the brand I use and evens says my skin looks great and never pushes the products she knows I'm not a fan off. However, i have purchased occasional scrubs and mask from the line that does work for me. My point is .. no high pressure sells. I do wish they offered more variety and could become a medical spa with treatments i tend to go to Houston for. There is some very good technology out there that is just not offered in Lake Jackson. Also, pricing for some treatments are definitely more expensive than Houston area. I drive to Houston daily so the drive to save a few $100 is not a deterrent for me personally. I wish they would have monthly specials. As i have 3 business in Houston area that send out and email and text with monthly specials at the first of each month. These are typically reduced fees on specific services for that month. When i see specials on changing Reflections Facebook page it always is for packages that are a bit costly for an impulse buy and there are post that state " call or come by and ask about our specials". I work a very busy job in Houston and i don't typically have time to call or come by that day/week. I would suggest email monthly specials and flash sales. All that can be prepurchashed over the phone and used at a later date. Some other businesses i basically have a bank of prepurchashed services that do not expire. I love this and wish CR offered the same. I would like to see some variety in skincare. Nobody in LJ sells skinmedica... hint hint I 100% recommend this place.
