Some endemic problems just go unnoticed until a moment occurs when such issues are revealed. Two issues, one old an unresolved, and one new have resulted in this downgrade. The old problem is unresponsive management. I have had a constant compliant about informing gym users to USE provided sanitary wipes after they use equipment. I was told in January (it's now nearing the end of May) that new signs were in the works. To date: nada. A gym up in Ocoee had a health contagion spread for reasons like this. The new problem is that management simply avoids the customers. Just this morning, a woman with developmental disabilities got he phone thrown at the door. A professional trainer - a man who is quite competent and caring - witnessed the event and took it upon himself to help sort this matter out. As he was helping settle things down, a manager sat ten feet away, in an office, door closed. Harris Rosen, a fine and charitable man, would not have tolerated this at the place where he once swam and chatted with his customers. Poor management is endemic, but I'm disappointed that it happens in a place where the line staff is so good.

My daughter enjoyed competing in the 50-meter long course. The water temperature was spot-on and the pool itself was spotless. The whole complex is well maintained with clean restrooms and working drinking fountains. You can tell the staff takes pride in keeping things organized and swimmer-friendly. There's convenient off-street parking all around the facility, and plenty of hotels and restaurants nearby making it perfect for multi-day meets or out-of-town families. It can be a little tricky to find the pool for the first time since it's tucked away off the main road, so don't rely solely on a quick glance at your map. Once you're there, everything's easy to access. We only wish there was a bit more spectator seating. With big events like this, the stands fill up fast. Overall, it's a top-notch swim venue and a great experience for swimmers.

Lake Brantley has one of the biggest pools I've ever seen. Of course, they often host swim meets so…read moreI shouldn't have been surprised. I needed a place to swim laps and Brantley is the ONLY public pool in northwest Orange County/Seminole County that has a pool open before summer. I thought it was crazy that none of the following offer lap swimming prior to June: Farnsworth (Winter Garden), City of Ocoee, or Westmonte Pool (Altamonte Springs). Thankfully Brantley was open for a fee of $3 per day. Besides being massive the pool is clean and is a comfortable temperature. A little chilly when you first hop in but you appreciate the temperature after you've swam a few laps. I was there on a Friday morning and essentially had the place to myself. The staff was preparing for a swim meet that weekend so were busy moving canopies and chairs. The pool is 25 yards wide and 50 meters long. This day is was set up for the short distance. There were about 5 lanes set up in the shallow end. There are some low and high diving boards in the deep end. On the shallow side there is this movable platform that extends the width of the pool. This allows for the pool to be divided into one small, shallow area separate from the rest of the pool. This would be great for beginner lessons. On the day I was there a group of special needs kids were enjoying the small pool. There is a nearby BBQ grill the staff was taking advantage of. My biggest critique would be that there is this huge pool with ONE bathroom. Yes, one single stall for men, one for ladies. No locker rooms, no changing rooms. This single stall doesn't even have a bench for you to put your stuff on. I felt pressured to change quickly so I didn't hog the bathroom. I couldn't imagine sharing this single bathroom during the height of summer or during a swim meet when hundreds of people crowd the pool! BTW... to get to the pool use the staff/employee entrance to Lake Brantley High School. Follow the road ALL THE WAY around, behind the school. There is a dirt/gravel parking lot to the side of the pool, past the "staff" parking spots.

The new machines are good, too. However, the main reason I want to go is my Zumba instructor, Reema; I eagerly look forward to attending her classes on Thursdays and Saturdays--it's what brings me the most happiness. She is a magnificent instructor who always makes sure we're keeping up with the steps, uses vocal cues to signal when to change moves, keeps everyone motivated, and fosters a comfortable atmosphere even when we occasionally lose our way a bit. Something I particularly like is that, before starting, she always introduces herself and asks if there is anyone new or if it's a special day for someone--like a birthday or anniversary--and encourages us to keep coming back. She is cheerful, motivating, patient, and very attentive. Instructor Reema is amazing. If it weren't for her and the pool, I wouldn't be a member, because the other instructors' styles don't really suit my taste.

The admission is about $10 per person, to visit all the museums buildings on the grounds and walk to the top of the lighthouse. The lighthouse is approximately 222 steps and takes roughly 6 to 10 minutes to get to the top depending on your stamina. Once you reach the top, you are rewarded with beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding area. The gift shop is wonderful and the staff are very welcoming! One of the workers in the gift shop gave us an intro when we bought our tickets. You should definitely start across the street at the hotel/museum. That hotel/house has history all its own aside from the lighthouse. The family that lived there and ran it. I loved the house and it seems to have stayed in great condition after hundreds of years. In the hotel/house, you start with a short movie in the side room and then you can tour the house at your leisure. The house has multiple items displayed from over the years. There are also boards with a bit of history as you make your way through. Outside of the hotel/house is a relaxing area by the water. You could relax there or it'd be a perfect place for a wedding or special occasion. Once finished there, you can make your way back across the street to the lighthouse. On the lighthouse side, there are other buildings where people that took care of the place stayed. There's also a small storybook trail. It's not long at all but it has these storyboards around it talking about this cat named Nelly. That's all fun and stuff... but at the end of the trail, you see a little cat graveyard with cats that have been on the property over the years. When we walked up and I noticed Nelly was already buried! THE HORRRRRRRRRRORRRRRRR! On to the lighthouse; You can climb up to the top of the lighthouse. I think there is a sign that mentions 222 steps or something. It gets very steep near the top. Great exercise and it made me forget all about the cat graveyard. It's a cool place. I was intrigued by the Cincinnati Reds connection too. Other notables: Across the street is a restaurant and ice cream place. I don't think those two spots are related to the lighthouse itself but it's nice that they're there. We tried out both and they weren't bad at all. We didn't venture further down the road but we were told more restaurants/locations are further down. If you like history or inlets or just lighthouses, check out this place if you're in the area.

Most YMCAs have overcome that history and are now up-to-date hi tech fitness locales. If you are into general fitness there are a number of circuit stations to trim and tone. General spacing between machines is more than adequate due to the generous size of the fitness floor For the big guys there are dumbbells all the way up to 120 pounds. It gets a little crowded here at times and they could benefit from a second crossover cable pulley machine. There are a few Hammer Strength machines on the north side of the fitness floor. It's not a complete Hammer set up but the fact that they are there is a big bonus. Although they are newer machines they are each missing a full set of racking stems but this may be done purposely to keep people from attempting to rack larger weights at lower rack locations. The cardio area is made up of mostly Cybex machine's which are a reliable industry standard. There are vertical cycles, recumbent cycles, ellipticals, and good old fashion treadmills. Locker rooms are a bit dated and could use a bit of a refresh. Other than that I definitely recommend this facility!

Today I went at 4pm as the website states the indoor pool is open from 4pm-7:30pm and was told it's closed because their budget didn't allow to be open except in the morning for exerise. I wanted to cancel my membership and they told me they were charging me and my membership would end in October, even though I can't use the pool. I get Silver Sneakers but pay for the pool access which now I don't even have access to that. I left my membership back in 2019 due to the filthy conditions of the entire place. While they've remodeled they haven't changed as to servicing the public and still false advertise what they have. I'm truly disappointed in this and doubt I ever go back. Doesn't seem that management cares either.
