The most unorganized store I have ever been to. The employees are rude. No sense of customer service skills.

"I'd gladly lose me to find you I'd gladly give up what I…read moregot To catch you, I'm gonna run and never stop I call that a bargain The best I ever had" (The Who) Man, oh man, do we love the bargains at Ollie's. This was our first visit to Newington's Ollie's, and we scored a fantastic deal. I am the Committee Chair for a convention next month, and one of the participation activities for the conventioneers will be assembling kits to donate to a Boston charity for children in need. We are set on the school supply side, but we are still a little short on the socks and underwear side for 50 boys and girls. So, when I saw a "15% off" email from Ollie's, it seemed like a divine sign to make a pilgrimage to the new Ollie's in Newington. And guess what we found? How about 5-packs of boy's underwear marked down to $2.99? BEFORE our 15% discount. Thank you, Lord Ollie. Ollie's was stocked to the gills and very neatly shelved. We bought this eclectic mix of goods: a big bag of Dot's pretzels, five boxes of K Cup coffees, a bottle of shampoo, a jar of pickled zucchini, a jar of salsa, and 20 of the aforementioned underwear 5-packs for just a shocking $88. Ollie's is a fun store to browse around in, and today we made out like bandits.

They had a great selection, and I was impressed with the children's section. We also found a great selection of old school candies, and brands I haven't heard of since the 70s, lol!

There are sparkling lights to see,…read morethey have plush things to touch, they have handmade soaps to smell, they have tasty samples to taste, and of course all of the excitement to hear. Bristol Bazaar is a collection of vendors selling their handmade merchandise at the same place. They are open all year, six days a week. With the holiday season in full force, you will find ornaments and tree toppers galore. They have screen printed and embroidered t-shirts and hoodies. There are toys, keychains, jewelry, plants and more. The best part about shopping or browsing at Bristol Bazaar is the checkout process. There's no need to make an individual purchase at each vendor, instead you can collect all of the goodies in your shopping basket, then cash out at the register. This helps keep things moving, and less people standing around. The items are marked with barcodes, so the makers receive their portion of the sale. If you're looking for a unique handmade gift, Bristol Bazaar is the place to go!

"What of the neighbours and the prophets in bars? What are…read morethey saying in our public bazaars?" (The Clash) The Bristol Bazaar is one of the most colorful and visually appealing marketplaces I've ever seen. It was a kaleidoscope of colors, shapes, and patterns. What a cool concept - a rotating ever-changing roster of over 65 local makers and artisans in a beautiful space with a built-in coffee bar and cocktail lounge (Yellow King Bristol). And if that isn't enough, they also offer crafting workshops, special events, and a classroom. Their website summarizes their mission - "We are looking for entrepreneurs who make their products by hand and are looking to make their side hustle, a full-time gig". Well said! We had a blast strolling through the Bazaar and marveling at the creativity and talent of the local makers. Everything here is made by hand by the sellers- no reselling is allowed. We walked out with a jar of caramel sauce from La Famiglia Tedesco for a certain caramel loving grand-daughter and a jar of Bloody Mary mix from Bloody Good Mud for a certain Bloody Mary loving Yelper. Because the roster of makers can change every month, you'll never really run out of new stuff to look at.

First the guy was nice and helpful, they didn't have the model of pants I was looking for and he gave me two similar models. I tried them on but didn't like the look of them on me and returned them to him. He said ' where are the third pair of pants? ' I responded that he gave me two pairs, and that I tried tried them on and didn't like them and then gave them back. There was another pair I only looked at and not tried on, but I folded and put them back on the stacks while he was standing by me. And I reminded him that I didn't even try them on and he saw me put them back. He repeated, "Give me the third pair back." I calmly repeated that I tried only two pairs on and I just handed them over to him and as for the other pair,I didn't even bother to try on. He said," give me the third pair back or I'll call the police" . I thought maybe he is a special need person and can't get things easily and I showed him my bag that there were no pants in it and I even took off my coat to show that there was no third pair whatsoever. He still insists , give me the third pair or I'll call the police. At that point, I said, "Now I do want you to call the police, what you're doing is unacceptable and you can't treat me , your customers like this." And he started to back off. I looked in my bag for my cell phone and it wasn't there, probably left in my car. I asked the other two customers in the store to please call the police for me but they didn't want to get involved. The younger shop attendant preferred to stay out of it, too. And I said to that pain guy ," I can't find my cellphone, it was in my bag, did you take it? Give my cell phone back". He said, he didn't have my cell phone. I said, give it back or I'll call the police, just like the way he talked to me. He backed off and disappeared in the store while I was asking the others to please call the police. And I left the store in total frustration. So, NEVER AGAIN. if you, no matter what want to buy cheap jeans and go to Irving's, BEWARE OF THAT STORE MANAGER.

"Give us this day our daily discount outlet merchandise…read moreRaise up a multiplex and we will make a sacrifice" (Billy Joel) We used to love shopping at the Outlet when their Canton store was open, but they closed it a few months ago. So, we made our first visit to the Outlet in Southington today. The differences between the two locations were striking. Southington is much larger and seemed to have a greater variety of products. It was more like a mini supermarket complete with produce, frozen goods, refrigerated goods, and a dairy case. Another difference is their 50% off room, where all sorts of non- foods items were half price. We used to pick up coffees, teas, frozen goods, and boxes of cereal at the Canton store. Just like Canton was, you have to check the pricing carefully because pricing is a real mixed bag. The Outlet is lower on some items and quite a bit higher on other items when compared to supermarket prices. We did find a few good buys- two squares of frozen jalapeno cornbread and two mini packages of frozen chocolate chip pancakes. How does $1.16 sound for all four? Yes, I thought you'd be as pleased with that as we were.
