Spending time along the Reedy River in Greenville is such a special experience. There are several beautiful spots to sit and relax, especially near the Grand Bohemian Lodge Greenville, and the bridge is a wonderful place to stroll while enjoying the soothing sound of the river and waterfall. What makes it even more meaningful is the history behind it. Beginning in the late 1700s, water-powered industries clustered along the Reedy River, including trading posts, grist and corn mills, a sawmill, an ironworks, the Gower, Cox and Markley Coach Factory, a paper-making factory, and an armory. A century later, textile and apparel mills were established along its banks. Unfortunately, the mills discharged waste and excess dyes into the river, and the Reedy began to suffer from the spoils of progress. By the mid-20th century, downtown Greenville's stretch of the river was so severely polluted by upstream textile mills that the once pristine and popular falls became desolate and unsafe. Seeing how beautiful and vibrant the area is today makes you truly appreciate the restoration and revitalization efforts. Hands-down, one of my favorite parks in North America! Located in downtown Greenville and it butts up against a few other parks that you can walk through that lead to the zoo. Perfect for a Saturday picnic and walk. The falls are beautiful. The park is very tidy and well kept. Multiple paths around the park with bikers joggers skateboarders but I never felt like I was about to get run down. Bring the dogs! read more

Gorgeous area with a lot of great trails nearby. I had the opportunity to spend my Easter Sunday here and it was spectacular. It was pretty crowded as it was a nice, hot, sunny day. There was live music playing in the area and Falls park is just a beautiful place in Greenville! They also have a really nice suspension bridge in the falls as well. Located in the heart of Downtown Greenville, this spacious, all walkable park has a river that runs through it. It has lovely water falls that you can either walk over ( on a pedestrian bridge), sit along side or walk around. You can bring your own food and drinks for a picnic but I wouldn't recommend it because the resteraunts are fantastic. My favorite is Larkin's and Passerelle Bistro, which is located directly along side the bridge facing town). However, there are countless other resteraunts within walking distance. The whole downtown area is a wonderful mix of historic and modern charm. This area alone makes Greenville, SC worth visiting. read more

Falls Park on the Reedy is one of my favorite spots in Greenville. Every time I visit, I'm amazed by how peaceful it feels right in the middle of downtown. The bridge crossing the river is impressive, the falls are nice to look at, the river is nice to walk along, and the shops around the area provide respite if it's hot or rainy out. The park was very well maintained when we went - gorgeous flowers were planted everywhere, and it's definitely worth visiting if you're in Greenville. Of course, you can't have everything, but it would have been nice to have a playground or play area for smaller children, because my kids got bored pretty quickly after we crossed the bridge and walked on some of the paths. read more

Falls Park is in Greenville's West End. The 32 acre park in a downtown is unique draw. It is a great place to explore nature and enjoy the amazing views of the waterfall. The park is free to visit and I was told it even has free parking but I walked so didn't need parking. A picnic area is in the park and there are many restaurants nearby and at least one in the park itself. The park is nineteen years old and designed with accessibility in mind from the ramps to the elevator to accessible trails. Greenville did a great job at revitalizing the area but do remember that the water is contaminated with bacteria from the mills that were here and sustained Greenville's economy so they do not want you to go in the water. The nature trail / Swamp Rabbit Trail is quite Scenic to be able to go on either sides and you are right downtown which is so quaint with lots of small shops and restaurants. We walked down into the park and back up again. There are a few different paths you can take. Each will give you a unique and wonderful view of the park and botanical gardens. Great park in downtown Greenville. There are a lot of trails, and you can walk to the zoo from the trails. There are plenty of signs telling you to stay off the rocks, but too many people disregard that message. Walk the trails first, then walk across the suspension bridge for dinner at a cute restaurant tucked in right at the end of the bridge. There are plenty of benches and swings to rest on. Stunning park in the middle of downtown Greenville. Waterfalls, creeks, geese, ducks, birds, trails, benches and swings. It was a great way to spend a Sunday morning, strolling the trail and taking in all the sights and buildings. The swings are set in little tranquil spots where you can take your coffee or book, and go sit and enjoy the outdoors and the sounds of the waterfalls. There's the great hugging tree, great picture spot, you can't miss it! Huge hotel being built in the middle right now too, new Grand Bohemian hotel. You can also then hop into one of the nice waterfront restaurants for food or drinks. So unusual to find something like this in any city downtown. Just love walking around . Lots of dog walking going on too in the morning. One the best draws to Greenville and I can see why. Perfect location too. read more

It is what it is- a park in the city that has a water feature. Is it especially impressive? I suppose if you're used to flat lands with limited rivers or springs or any water that flows off of any higher elevation, sure. Would I say plan a trip here just for this? Nope. I just want to see the river, I am repeating to my family as we're dropped off downtown. My husband and son pull up their phones and direct us towards water. I really think they were like "okay, whatever" until we got to Falls Park. My husband started taking photos and exploring the area, remarking how cool it was. No sh@t is what I wanted to say but I was just glad they could appreciate it. It had been years since I've been downtown, before all the renovations occurred, and I wanted to see what had been done to the area. We walked for a little bit, admiring the river, the design and layout of pocket parks, wedding venues, and just the exceptional job the city had done to make such a cool open space/destination. This is a beautiful park in downtown Greenville. The trail that goes through the park is part of a 16 mile path going through the city. There's also the Liberty Bridge which is an elevated circular bridge that gives a great view of the falls and parts of the Reedy River. We went on a chilly, overcast day and it was still beautiful. We visited here about 3 years ago in order to view the solar eclipse. We were back for a weekend visit to Greenville, and we walked through here several times. If you see a timeline of how this area was connected with the city over time, it is especially impressive what they've done with it in the last 20 years. It is hard to believe that it was almost covered up with vegetation, pollution, and a traffic bridge through most of the 1990s. Thankfully, someone had the foresight to re-focus and anchor the downtown on this revitalized area. There are so many restaurants and shops to enjoy (there were probably more pre-COVID). The fact that the Swamp Rabbit Trail terminates here and allows walking / running / biking for miles to the north is an added attraction. Any downtown would be lucky to have any sort of feature remotely similar to this. It really sets Greenville apart, IMO. read more

One of my favorite places to go when I want to be outside, in nature, with no need to spend a dime. Falls park is my must visit for anyone who comes to Greenville. A waterfall in the middle of downtown is something amazing to see. Just a few steps off Main Street and enough acres to keep you entertained for an hour or two With it being so people friendly: sidewalks, swings, and easy access to food, it's endlessly enjoyable. While there is constant worries about water quality, just be sure to minimize contact and don't let pets drink it. The gardens change amazing throughout all seasons. I particularly love the hydrangea season in May-June. The spring Shakespeare plays and the summer moonlight movies are always keeping me proud of how we use the beautiful park as a city. read more

Stunning Riverwalk and downtown area in Greenville SC. The Riverwalk itself is a gorgeous area with waterfalls near a lot of restaurants and shops as well. We walked for 2 miles along the river before turning around. There is a zoo if you keep going along the path. The main area/park is the best part if you're short on time. If you have an hour or two make sure you take a longer walk. read more
