It was such an easy, painless procedure that if I ever find myself in need of such items again I'll definitely return to them. I rented a Bose system that was a stand alone speaker that worked perfectly for an art gallery space filled with around 100 people. It came with super easy operating instructions, an adapter for a computer or iPod, and a microphone, all for $30. The entire rental took me about 10 minutes and I was able to drop the items off the next day. It could not have been easier. They also sell musical items and offer lessons on various instruments. It's definitely a place worth checking out if you need anything musically related!

Charging $100 to change strings and make a quick adjustment on the neck as well as it taking up to five business days is ridiculous. It takes less than 5 to 10 minutes to change strings on a guitar. If you want to learn how to play guitar, become a better guitar player or even become an expert…read moreguitar player, Dempster Guitar Studio is a place you should check out. Stephen Dempster is very knowledgeable and Passionate about the guitar, music and his students. His rates are cheaper than I was paying at Long and McQuade and the program is stellar. In addition to lessons, he provides many workshops and even a FREE guitar "gym" every week. He has a great website and is always adding more resources for students (such as access to him over Skype for practice help). If you are interested in becoming a better guitar player - at any level or want to make sure your child is set up to succeed give him a call. If you are a beginner I would call him before even buying an instrument. Before I even started, he had me come to the studio for a FREE consultation to understand better what I wanted to achieve and also explain how he approaches instruction. I have a long way to go, but I am a better "musician" as a result of Stephen's mentoring and it's been a fun process along the way.

(Learned this after hours of trekking around…read morethe city) I came here in pursuit of a replacement pedal for my Yamaha C5, (which was damaged when I moved back to Halifax- still on the mover's case for that one!). Anyhoo, Dr. Piano did not have the part in stock, which is to be expected, since most piano stores don't have the exact pieces directly in store. What was unexpected was how quick the staff was to call up the manufacturer and have the piece delivered- didn't take long at all Then when the part did arrive, they sent a techie to come and install the part properly. The sound is perfect, just like before my piano got damaged. Very satisfied with the quality of service here- this piano store struck a perfect note with me!

Shows also tend to be a little cheaper than similar auditorium style shows at the Rebecca Cohn at Dalhousie University, although no bar service (which makes sense since it is inside Citadel High). I had such a horrible experience as promoter in Spatz Theatre recently…read more Rented Spatz theatre around dozen times for events I promoted in 2018-2019. Spatz Theatre was managed by Sara who always did a great job. I had a show scheduled for March 2020 that was postponed due Covid restrictions. I was so excited finally to reschedule my show for March 21 2022, day when NS was going to lift some Covid Restrictions. Around 2 weeks ago i got an email from Cathy, who replaced Sara as manager, informing me that Spatz Theatre and school board decided to cancel my event, because " they are not ready to host full capacity event yet" even i told them all patrons going to wear masks at the show so that would help to avoid some risk. They also told me that even if they would reschedule my event all tickets should be refunded first because they want to change a box office provider. That really disappointed me because unnecessary refunds always are stressful for a promoter and ticket holders. 2 weeks before an actual event i had to look for another venue and change so many things: advertising, contract, setting a new box office for event , etc. Luckily Rebecca Cohn Auditorium was available for the same date and they had no issue to host a big event even they are located in educational facility as well. Just couple hours before refunds to ticket holders i found out that Spatz and Ticket Halifax want to hold CC fees and box office fees and do not refund it to ticket holders, even cancellation of event was completely not their fault. I literally had to fight with Cathy about it and made them refund my ticket holders in full amount. After posting announcement about changing venue on event page and refunds started to get processed i was receiving a lot of messages asking about directions to buy tickets on presale even it supposed to be sent in email with cancellation explanation that supposed to be sent before refunds would be made and then few more times after that, to be sure all patrons was noticed about changes. I asked Ticket Halifax representative Lindsay to fix that issue but they denied it and didn't do anything to help me and my show ticket holders. Just now i received a copy of email from Ticket Halifax from one of my ticket holders and I found that text of letter was not one that i approved. They changed it and removed an explanation why Spatz Theatre cancelled this event. Not only actions of Spatz Theatre and Ticket Halifax caused stress and financial loss for me and ticket holders but they also lied to me. I don't think that's behaviour appropriate for people who manage the theatre. It's not ok to treat your loyal customers like that! Extremely disappointed.

Very poor service when leaving an instrument for repair…read more When I contacted them about it after to speak to a Manger, I still havnt heard anything and that was 2 weeks ago. Major issue was that my daughter needed her rented flute repaired. The sales guy first told us nothing was wrong when her music teacher told her to get it looked at, then scoffed when we wanted it done. He was very condescending, and then gave us a loaner instrument and told us had to pay a fee for protection on it. We aren't allowed to use the insurance we already have, must be a new one. Seems kinda ridiculous. I'd give lower than one if possible, won't deal with here again.

This is one of three Long & McQuade locations in Halifax Metro…read more Coming from Halifax it is on the right hand side of Bedford Highway. Unfortunately there is little parking available -- on weekends it can be difficult to find a spot unless you are willing to wait or circle around for a few minutes. The entrances to the store are not very well signed -- the entrance at the very left is to the lessons facility whereas the entrance at the centre-right is to the store itself. The store is surprisingly small. When you enter it has acoustic guitar, keyboard, piano, and sheet music sections on the left, an electric guitar section straight ahead, and drum and wind instrument sections on the right. You can use the Long & McQuade website at http://www.long-mcquade.com to search for in-store stock. Unfortunately this feature requires two extra clicks from the product page. The employees are very friendly and seem knowledgeable but they make a bit too little effort to ask customers whether they need assistance. I usually complain that employees in many stores are too obnoxious but at Long & McQuade in Bedford it can be the opposite, you can easily spend 15 minutes there and nobody will ask you whether they can help you.
