The current owner purchased this Falconry about 11 years ago from the previous owner who had it for 40 years. According to the current owner the previous owners passed away at the ripe age of 82 years only 3 months earlier as of this writing. Birds generally have long life spans and therefore can span the life of more than one caretaker. The falconry has various species of hawk, eagle, falcon and owls from different parts of the globe. They are allowed to leave the falconry when the owner permits it. On this particular day the owner wasn't doing any demonstrations so we just took pictures. On previous visits one of the big Hawks was taken out and flew to the owners hand. We also were able to examine Owl pellets which contained the remains of mice bones. Each bird of prey has its own place. The Falcons are the fastest birds of the world and the Peregrin is the fastest in the world and are still utilized for sport hunting today. There are a few educational posters on how these birds hunt and attack their prey. The location of this falconry on top of the highest peak in the Taunus mountains is special. During our visit one of the big eagles started to screech. The owner commented that he had spotted some buzzards high up and was attempting to initiate contact.

I will be returning often, it is just a relaxing place too sit and enjoy the sounds and sights of this magnificient creatures.

Zoo Frankfurt was a well maintained and relatively modest city center zoo. The theming and…read moreinformation is relatively light but there is a ton of great animal viewing up close. Restrooms were clean, it's right next to a transport stop and there is simple food and beverage and souvenir offerings. It's not going to be a top zoo in the world, but 2 hours here would be an enjoyable and affordable stop for any visitor to Frankfurt.
