They messed up my engagement ring which I took in for resizing. We got it back (after weeks of terrible communication!!) And a couple small diamonds in the halo (which Shauna got very defensive about and called them minute during her argument) are permanently black from heat damage. The band had a nasty Crack which we were able to get fixed elsewhere, and they lost an original "minute" diamond from the halo and replaced it with a lower quality diamond. Very different color. Went to visit to about getting some family jewelry appraised and to see if they would be able to make custom jewelry, to quickly preface this, I do not look like the general population of Walla Walla. (I am mid 30's black and wearing overalls because I was doing yard work and found time in my day to run downtown). While I was speaking with an associate, 2 groups walked in behind me and they appeared to be more affluent and the associated immediately said there is nothing we can do for you, dismissed me and greeted the other patrons warmly. It's taken me 3 tries and almost 3 years to write a review about my experience with Faulkenberg's Jewelers because of how traumatic the experience and the damage their outsourced jeweler had done to my wedding set and I am still paying the cost. I brought my wedding rings of almost 29 years to them to have prongs reset from normal wear. I have had done by Kay's with no problem and they outsource. No pictures were taken, I assumed it was an in-house jeweler. 2 weeks later, I receive estimate and told it would be done in a week. 3 weeks without wedding rings. I asked why so long for estimate and fix. Informed that it was shipped to outsource. What?!? When returned my rings had been reset and bent up but I was so thankful to have back that it took me an hour or more to register my setting and rings were resoldered off from center diamond. My wedding set had been changed without permission. My diamond was recessed with prongs way up. I cried. I brought rings in. No money back. $250 out and had to trust them to send it out again and return right. I did. Next time returned with prongs cut off, diamond centered but still lowered. No, my ring was specific designed to float. Fix this, please? I'm begging and trying to be kind. Another trip to outsourced jeweler. Almost 8 weeks total without rings the ring is returned. Holes filled wear they removed gold. I'm so thankful to have it back I can barely speak. Still no return on money paid out. 4 months later center diamond slides. I brought to Ben Bridges in Kennewick to have repaired. They outsource to jeweler, pictures are taken, measurements and grade (I'll never know will I if those were the ones that were in rings before Faulkenbergs). I returned to tell Faulkenberg's Shauna that my center diamond was sliding and having repaired and the cost. She wasn't apologetic but upset because I didn't bring my wedding set back and entrust it to them. How could I? Today, the soldering fell apart on my wedding set. I will never trust them. read more

I hate shopping for jewelry. I really do. Especially at mall-chain jewelry stores. All the stuff at places like Kay and Zales looks like its been mass produced. Designs vary from "meh" to "yuck" to "did toddlers design this." I've never made a purchase at a chain jewelry store I didn't regret. There's never anything original at a chain jewelry store. You never know if you're getting ripped off or if the diamonds are poor quality. I hate the sales experience at Kales. I hate the ambiance at Zay's. Mall jewelry shopping is just a big, fat pain and I hate it. Falkenberg's is none of these things. It's just about the only place I buy jewelry now because it doesn't make me want to impale myself on the eternal tree of pain. Here's why: 1. The prices are higher than mall prices, but it's local and I know I'm getting what I'm paying for. To me, forking over a few extra doubloons is well worth the knowledge that I'm not getting ripped off. 2. Every year my wife and I pop in and get her wedding ring cleaned, and in 30 minutes they make it look like it just came off the shelf. Fo' free. We haven't needed any repairs, but I know they'll take care of that too. 3. They always have something that isn't blase or generic. Even their jade isn't jaded. If I'm going to shell out enough cash to feed an Ethiopian village for half a year, I better be getting something that stands out and is one-of-a-kind. 4. They have an awesome dog named Bo that will play fetch with you in the shop if he likes you. That also tells you a little about the mentality of the owners. A jewelry shop where I can play with a dog is a jewelry shop I'm comfortable shopping in. 5. The owners and staff aren't oleaginous or pushy. Just friendly and helpful. (Yes, I HAVE been working to find a way to insert "oleaginous" into a review.) So there you have it. Falkenberg's is a good jewelry store. Shopping here won't induce vomiting or make you want to self-flagellate. Falkenberg's is good and wholesome, and has a great shop dog. That pretty much sums it up. I had an engagement ring appraised by them, explaining to them that the ring was made some place else and it was a one of a kind custom made ring. The appraisal came back at a lower value than expected, so I called them and asked for an explanation. They told me that well you should always have a ring appraised where you had it made. Well thanks for the great f-ing advise after that fact that I told you it was made some place else. I would never shop here again. There lack of help is just astonishing and angering. read more

I brought my ring in to be sized up one whole size. They told me it would be $80. I was shocked at that price, but I did it anyways. A week later my husband picked up my ring so I would have it for Valentines Day. They charged him $90.00 plus tax which came to $98.00. I called Falkners right away and asked about the price increase and the manager Skip said, "well the ticket says ylu were given an estimate of $90". I told him that was not what I was told. Then he proceeded to tell me in a very condescending tone of voice, "No you were not told that because I am looking at the ticket right now". He called me a liar. He went on and on how I was not told that estimate. Then he says, "what do you want me to do?". I said give me my $10 and have my ring sized up one more size because you never resized it. Its the same damn size as it was when I brought it to you. Then skip, ( the manager) says, it was sized up one size. But you can bring it in and we will look at it to show you that it was resized." Condescending once again. He was so rude and unhelpful and I cannot get my money back for a service that was not given to me.
