The proximity of Bridle Trails Park across the street is just an added perk. The people who board there are uniformly friendly and drama free. It doesn't get better than this.

It's a pleasure to pull up to the stable and see horses turned out at such a beautiful place. Kudos to the Hothis. Highly recommended.

Grass hay, twice a day, is provided with board. You may provide your own grain/supplements if you wish. Each horse has an open front stall, leading to a gravel paddock. During the day (after breakfast) the gates are open to fields. The horses are out until around dusk then back into paddocks for the night. Paddocks and stalls are cleaned daily. This is a family run business, with a number of people who have been here 10+ years. It's just a great community, and the property owners are so kind. There's a huge sand arena and nice big round pen, a locked tack room and just a really nice setup. For non horse folks: this isn't a horse rental or horse training business, and it isn't a drop in place to pet/visit horses. Just sharing as some people don't understand that many private boarding facilities don't offer those services. It does have a fenced Sniff Spot for dog owners who want to utilize that- reserve that on the Sniff Spot app.

Disagree with her about anything, and you quickly experience the freeze out, including rude behavior from her staff. All horses here develop horrible and numerous abscesses due to the 6 months of mud and rock in the pastures. I watched her have shoes put on one boarder's horse 'for his own good' like the rest of the horses have to, against the owner's wishes, as well as doing what she thinks is best with recovering and injured animals even when the owner and vet have made themselves clear. There is a sweet lady who comes out a few times a year to perform bodywork on animals and people, and I believe in that, but it was suspect that she always recommended supplements that Laurie sells, even suggesting a gut flora treatment for one horse that had "short stifles". Last year five horses died on her property, and although 2 of them were pretty old, the others were unexpected. There is too much iron in the water, so much that there is a filter for the house but none for the animals. Nobody knows if that is causing issues, but there are articles out there that say excessive iron can cause problems. Before I arrived there, my horse never had abscesses, and since my move he's hasn't had a single one. Laurie seems to have a genuine love for animals but takes 'treating them like they are her own' to an extreme, and I'd only come here if you are ok with a culty dictatorship.

When my daughter and I come for lessons often Craig Stevens or Mary Anne Campbell will be working with students from other countries who've come all the way here to work with them. Even though they are riding at very high levels, my daughter and I never feel lower in anyone's eyes because we're beginners. As a teacher, Mary Anne is encouraging and supportive, demanding without ever demeaning. Craig is just brilliant, and what he knows about horses can keep you really truly progressing for decades- many of his students have been working with him for twenty years or more, and they ride beautifully and they still keep learning! I find that exciting. As a boarding and training facility, my horse is progressing calmly and more fun to ride each visit, and he's healthy and well cared for. Mary Anne is always ready if I have questions and offers suggestions if she sees something that might help him, and my daughter and I love the facilities and the community. Very happy at NSAE.

Craig and Mary Anne break down the lessons into a language of manageable chunks that help us to find and use balance, space, and movement to work effectively with horses. My daughter and I both take lessons and every teacher is able to flex to our levels and styles. I especially appreciate that safety is always first; the teachers ensure we understand how to be safe - and keep our horses safe - whenever and wherever we are in the barn: grooming, riding, or horse-in-hand. The horses are well taken care of and there is obvious attention to keep them healthy and happy. The arena is large, clean, and covered; comfortable for riders or watching another lesson. There is an ever-present tone of calm and respect at the barn for horses and students alike. NSAE creates a welcoming space for everyone - new or experienced - who wants to learn about horses and explore the relationship we can create with any horse.
