The building has always been impressive with three floors and raised seating the owner has outdone himself with huge trees and twinkling fairy lights. The food and drinks menu has been well thought out, clear and concise its not huge but I like the idea that they have picked a few dishes that they will do very well! The service in here started off a little on the shaky side having seated someone else in our seats we were a bit unnerved to see them move people for the the last booth in the raised area. Although it was explained those seating areas were for food only and the people who were moved were only having drinks... Moving swiftly on we were talked through the menu on what was a suitable amount for starter and main etc. We ordered a selection of starters to share; the prawn dynamite sushi was tasty although reading the menu you would think you get a selection of the six offered you do have to choose one as it is handmade to order - nice touch! Next was the spring rolls with duck which were very good with more flavour than your ordinary vegetable variety! My favourite was the pork and prawn dim sum -arriving in a basket to keep them warm they were amazing! Cooked to perfection the rice paper was thin and the pork went so well with the fish. Served with a very hot chilli dip it gave it the kick it needed! Next was the tricky decision between the thai red curry or the monkfish. On recommendation I went for the monkfish (which isn't explained on the menu in detail but is in fact small bites of fish breaded!) served with rice or chips. The curry sauce dip on the side was refreshing and light and the sticky rice came served in the lotus leaf -again a nice touch! I wouldn't normally have went for a fish dish but the waitress had excellent knowledge of the menu which I liked! We finished the meal off with some coconut ice cream and some sake - again something I hadn't tried. Served in a jug and warmed through it was good - definitely worth giving it a go! With one final cocktail for the road - the Guava Royale is one I would recommend I will definately be coming back to try my thai curry! 5* for service - from drinks to food tips and a great atmosphere for a relaxed evening out!

It has taken years of trying different places to finally find this gem. I've never been disappointed with anything I've had from this place. The service has always been friendly and fast and the prices are very reasonable. The curry sauce is spicy but not TOO spicy (that is usually my main issue with chinese takeaways - the curry is usually too 'hot'), the prawn crackers are lovely and the chips are even tastier than the chip shop! When we arrived we noticed a lot of the food containers were nearly empty (at 19.45pm) the food in them seemed dried out ie the rice dishes The jelly seemed slimey and the ice cream had pieces of ice in. There was food on the floor that had been there from when we arrived and had not been cleaned furthermore when we were leaving the gateau that were on display looked as if they had been re frozen and thawed therefore giving a soggy appearance. The music that wa pllaying was ok and my taste but we found the atmosphere a little loud although the places aroma was portrayed as depressing (not what I would have wanted for a new year) there was no customer feedback offered whereas when we were shown. To our table we were left and not asked if everything was to our liking etc etc. The laminate flooring has started to lift in front of the dessert trolley and has not only just happened this must be several months of selling as there is a lip of about 6-7mm where it has swollen with moisture getting in to the wood and the dirt has turned the wood black. Above the soup stickers there must have been information displayed which has now been pulled off. The stickers remaining are torn and dont look very presentable and attractive to the eye. The staff were nice enough but personally I think they were understaffed as I only seemed to see two, and one of them was the bar man who was also bringing the food out when it was needed maybe this was why there was a shortage of food when we walked in. We are not one for complaining but really feel we have to let you know our feelings about this and hope this will help you improve your service for others in the future.

There are couple more restaurants that come close but Happiness Inn is definitely the best. Okay, it might not have the ambience or feel of a posh restaurant, but who cares! The food is divine and to die for! I have been 5-6 times so far, and every time it is has been full of Chinese people, which is always a good sign. Make sure you ask for the more comprehensive Chinese Menu, that's where the magic is ;-)
