Jim handled my 2 refinances quickly and efficiently. I got a lower rate than my local credit union.

I have never seen two individuals like Mike and Jim care enough about a client as much as they did with me.

Beacon and overlooking Beacon Falls will be owned and operated by the artist, Maria Lago. Maria intends to use the space as a working studio and on-going exhibition space for her art works. The studio will keep regular weekend hours and will be also be open by appointment for private showings. About Maria Lago Maria Lago is an accomplished artist whose work has featured prominently in private collections, museums and galleries in Europe and the United States. A long-time New York resident, Maria Lago is originally from Asturias, in Northern Spain and the magic and mystery of her art work is greatly influenced by the pre-historic caves paintings of the region. Each work is a thick mixture of materials such as plaster, glue, sand, shells, pebbles, and wood that she uses to cover the canvas, creating a base that resembles destroyed ruins or an eroded cave wall. The strong expressionistic works employ primitive symbols and archetypal images to explore both the universal human condition and her individual experience. The subjects of the paintings range from the artist in her studio, to landscapes to feminist visions of creation. Whether they depict a landscape, an animal, or a studio interior, the work explores man's origins and his integration into the surrounding world.

It's always had issues but there was a time I wouldn't have said it was any worse than any other place I've banked. However, I've noticed the quality of service has depreciated so much through the years. I've been hanging on thinking Heritage would find its legs eventually, but this place is crap and perhaps irredeemable at this juncture. As bad as it's been, I would always know at least one quality teller who instilled trust and fixed everyone else's screwups, but they are all gone, which should've been one cue among many to leave. My relatives already pulled most of their monies in the past few months and my friends a few years back with a few even preferring institutions with worse interest rates rather than deal with Heritage Financial Credit Union's incompetence. The problem is always being told something incorrect and/or being given the runaround for a minor service. From my own experience, I can't tell when staff are deliberately lying or just don't know what they are talking about, but I've lost money either way. And I can vouch that it's nearly impossible to find anyone competent enough or willing to attend to even the smallest of issues. For example, some time ago a business sent out a fraud alert because I paid for some things with a small value check then returned to the store less than 10 minutes later and paid for another transaction with a very high value check. Apparently that's something that scammers do, so an agency representing the company put out a block so no company represented by them would accept any checks from my account until I proved my identity to the credit union. I was told not to worry because such an alert takes mere minutes to resolve. The cashier initially told me not to even bother moving my stuff or leaving the line because everything would be fixed by the time I moved off. What's supposed to happen is that the agency that represents the store contacts the financial institution, and the institution verifies you're the rightful owner of the account. This took nearly three hours to resolve! The actually verification took seconds but it took hours for the agency to get through. The agency said they've never had so much difficulty contacting someone at a financial institution before. It was subtly suggested I leave the credit union, and I should've listened. Heritage rarely answers my phone calls or they'll transfer my call to anyone but the person I request. The quality of service depends on who happens to be on shift any particular day. And, this can't be resolved by just booking appointments. They will cancel appointments without notification or say it wasn't on the calendar. Booking an appointment sometimes takes longer than the actual appointment. And, as a cherry on it all, now they have staff with awful attitudes and low comprehension skills who flat out refuse to do their job. I'm willing to bet the high turnover is because it's grating to deal with such people. I can barely tolerate it for a few minutes as a customer. I can't imagine what it's like having to work beside such characters for an entire shift. Try to address such behavior and you're basically told about the services that can be done via app or phone. They clearly have no intentions on bringing back professionalism. At this point the only positive I have to say is that there is always ample parking. Take your money elsewhere. I will.

Teresa, one of the managers there is very rude and condescending. There is no follow-through, and no one seems to know what they are doing. We have been lied to many times. Should you have a National Service Park Pass, you'll be able to enter for free. It's best to call at 9 AM just to be sure there's availability. Inside the center, you'll find restrooms and a large display of the Vanderbilt family tree. Our docent Mike first started the tour at the visitor center. Mike was very knowledgeable and had wonderful wit. The visitor center used to be the guest house for Mrs. Vanderbilt's bachelor friends during their stay over. Mike walked us over to the main estate. The outside of the estate is stunning. We then entered the beautiful estate. All the furnishings are absolutely gorgeous. The last part of the tour is walking down the servants stairs. However, the best photo view is probably looking up from the bottom of the staircase. Hope you enjoy the photos. Photos are allowed, but without flash.

It was well worth the stop! Tours are required to enter the mansion and last an hour. It was well worth it - our tour guide was fantastic - engaging, knowledgeable, and fun. This 54 room estate was owned by what our tour guide described as the "Vanderbilt least likely to star in a reality show," his wife Louise was fascinated by France so all of her spaces are heavily French inspired, and despite a very clear upstairs/downstairs division, these Vanderbilts left significant portions of their fortune based on individual years of service to their servants in their will. The story of how this mansion ended up with the National Park Service was also interesting - the home itself was left to Louise's niece, who, while wealthy, was unable to pay the taxes on this additional large property. So she attempted to sell - but it was the Great Depression and there were no buyers. Neighbor Franklin D. Roosevelt proposed a plan: offer to sell the property and home intact to the NPS for $1 as he also made arrangements to transfer his neighboring property to them, as well. The grounds themselves are lovely - the Vanderbilts maintained formal gardens and are free to explore. There is a stunning view - referred to as "a millionaire's view" at the time - of the Hudson River. Tickets can be purchased for house tours in the visitor's center. Note that the home does not have air conditioning so it can get toasty in warm weather.
