We booked a 2-night stay this TownePlace Suites using our Marriott points. Surprisingly, it wasn't a TON of points either. (Foreshadowing?) Upon arriving, the area was SUPER SKETCHY. Like, vacant buildings, boarded up gas station, yikes. But we liked the location on 10, as we planned to go to Six Flags on this trip. Exterior looked a bit dated but not terrible. Interior was similar, looked a bit dated but not that bad. We booked a king suite with a pullout couch and a kitchen (we don't eat out much so we packed plenty of healthy food). Our room was small but cozy. No mustiness/mold (very important to us.) Friday morning we went down to breakfast around 8:30am, with breakfast ending at 9am. There was NOTHING left. No eggs, no potatoes, no sausage, no biscuits. The breadbox only had a couple English muffins left. Coffee was enough for 1.5 cups. We went back to the room with empty bellies. Took a sip of the coffee and it was horrible. Tasted like they brewed ashtray. (Sigh) Luckily, there is a brand new Scooter's coffee across the street and I ran over to get us some good coffee. I wanted to get in a workout before we went to the pool. The fitness room is separate from the hotel... unfortunately, there was an "out of order" sign on the door. I inquired what was the issue and it dealt with the door lock. (Such a disappointment). Checked out the pool since I was out there. Pool looked ok but there were only 4 lounge chairs and upon closer inspection, 2 of the 4 chairs were ripped in the seat making them unusable. Therefore with an 85 degree day in January, if anyone else wanted to utilize the pool, there was a good chance we wouldn't be able to get a lounge chair. (Sigh) I headed back to the room and went to get something out of the fridge and realized it wasn't very cold in there. Checked the temp and it was up the coldest setting. Checked the freezer and EVERYTHING WAS THAWED OUT and all the ice was completely melted!! Told the desk and they said they would get maintenance over but the damage was already done... ALL OUR HEALTHY FOOD WE PACKED TO AVOID EATING OUT HAD TO BE THROWN AWAY!!! It was HEARTBREAKING throwing out $10 packs of unopened lunch meat. All in all, we threw away $70+ worth of food. Needless to say, we decided we wanted to switch hotels at this point. The girl at the front desk was SO NICE. She was very apologetic and not only awarded us bonus points, they refunded our points from the stay. We really appreciated the staff's effort to rectify the situation BUT it doesn't outweigh the: 1. No food at breakfast 2. Terrible tasting coffee 3. Out of order fitness room 4. Only 2/4 usable pool lounge chairs 5. Broken fridge spoiling all our food We changed hotels and it was the best decision we made! Will not be back.

About 30 minutes later in they way out I asked the front desk to ask housekeeping to service our room which they assured me they would. Upon returning that night, the room had not been serviced. We were there 5 nights and didn't have any housekeeping service. The "hot" food in the breakfast room wasn't warm most days, so that wasn't great either. We'd probably stay somewhere else next time.

An excellent hotel experience…read more After our apartment building burned down last Friday, my fiancé and I ended up at the Hilton on extremely short notice. They managed not only to book us for several nights, but allowed our cat to stay as well. We were thrilled by their pet-friendly policy and our cat, despite the scary circumstances, was actually quite comfortable in the space as well. I only mention this because he is not very good with big changes, but took to the hotel room fairly quickly. The room we stayed in was pretty spacious with a large privacy curtain to separate the comfortable beds from the living area. A microwave, sink, cups, plates, and utensils are available to use so you can have a proper meal inside your room should you decide to stay in. Though we ourselves did not use it this time around, the gym looked really nice with tons of different equipment and machines to use. It's also worth noting that every time we went downstairs we saw a security guard on duty in the parking lot or inside the hotel itself, so we felt an extra sense of security during our stay. Breakfast is included with your stay, and my fiancé and I agree that it is the best hotel breakfast we've ever had. They have a hot breakfast and yogurt bar, coffee and cereal bar, fresh fruit, breads, toppings and jam, and waffle makers in both mini size and jumbo Texas shapes. I've listed a few of the delicious things we had in the pictures below. They also have a whole bunch of pantry, refrigerated, and frozen items downstairs at the register so you can pick up a snack or tv dinner to cook in your room. Though the circumstances that brought us to the Hilton were beyond terrible, our stay was wonderful. We're so incredibly grateful to the kind and efficient staff for helping us in our plight and would highly recommend this hotel to those looking in the area for options, especially those with furbabies. Small balconies for getting some fresh air. Pool and hot tub are indoors. Pool was a bit chilly. It didn't help that they had big fans blowing on the pool. Weight room was small and only offers dumbbells and treadmill-like machines. Overall a nice place. Would stay again.

The outside looks haggard due to over grown weeds and there is a fair amount of litter on the property. There are small strips of grass to walk your dogs, which is good. I waited for about 5 or more minutes for someone to come to the front desk. When he arrived, he was friendly, explained everything and gave us our keys. We got to the room and the keys would not work. Went down to address, came back, opened the door and someone was already staying in that room! Talk about embarrassing. Luckily, he was light-hearted about it. (This is why it is a GREAT idea to throw the extra lock out while in your room. That said, I do not know how to combat this gross mistake if you are not in the room, but your stuff and dog is in the room.) Finally, we got the right keys. Got in, the room is spacious and pretty clean. The bed was comfortable. We went down to check out the pool and hot tub. The water in the hot tub was quite hot, but the water was visibly dirty. The small outdoor pool looked okay, but people were splashing about, so we didn't get a close look at the water. In our opinion, the property manager really needs to place some focus on the overall maintenance needs of this hotel. Otherwise, we might stay here again.

They made the potatoes with (and without) the veggies and sausage mixed in so there were options. Sunday was pretty standard. I miss the in-room coffee maker. There was still signage for it by the fridge but no coffee maker in our room. I did have some minor reaction to the strong smell of the bedding. It was either the detergent or maybe fabric softener but it was overwhelming!

Our double queen room was huge, and the rates were extremely reasonable. There was plenty of off street parking available as well. Check in and out we're both quick and efficient. The best part of our stay was the complementary hot breakfast, complete with a waffle iron in the shape of Texas. We also had a lovely conversation with the woman who was running the breakfast area. We would definitely stay here again!

Front desk staff has always been accommodating and friendly. The rooms are sound proof and very spacious with kitchenetts that are stalked with everything you could possibly need, except for the food (haha) including full size refrigerators with ice makers, a plus in my book. No more having to run around, looking for a nice maker. With that a stupid little brown bucket that doesn't keep ice for a very long.This location is conveniently located. Its close to Walmart and HEB as well as several good restaurants. They are pet, friendly and my pup loves staying here. We usually take two walks daily , this is to say that it's a nice area for dog walking. We venture out of the property and explore. I recommend this place highly.

Spent 1 night here and here are my quick thoughts on this "minimum frills" property:…read more POSITIVES: - Staff are friendly & helpful - The entire place looks like it's gotten a fresh coat of paint and other refreshing - Bed (queen size) & pillows were very comfy - A/C worked well - Bagel bar was appreciated even thought it was no frills (they also have yogurt cups, fruits, and packaged muffins there along with various spreads for the bagels). They didn't have eggs, breakfast meats, toast, etc. - Parking was not an issue COULD USE IMPROVEMENT: - Bathroom could have been cleaned better. There were signs of urine splatter on the floor from previous guests which wasn't cleaned up well. And the toilet had an unpleasant looking stain/discoloration near the jet hole inside. - The TV would not work even after I noticed that the 2 plugs behind it were not plugged in. Since I only noticed it as we were preparing to check out, I didn't bother reporting it. But if management reads this, it was Room # 203. Final observation, this Spark seems to have opened fairly recently but it's not a new build and has very obviously been renovated/painted with Spark colors/theme. It's a good place for grabbing some shut eye but not so attractive that you feel like you are in a "nice" property. Though the look is pretty straightforward and bordering on spartan, it checked the major boxes for what we required during our stay - a comfy & quiet place to sleep that was conveniently located off the highway and which had the basic amenities we needed (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand soap bars, and a few packaged Styrofoam cups). While it's not a place I would "vacation" with family, it's solid for a quick business trip, or to crash at after a sporting or other event in the area, or for a place to lay your head if you are driving through town.
